Please, check your Wifi connection with a N router and let's see the surprise:
Xperia Neo doesn't support N mode, it just connects at 54 Mb/s also if the router is set to N only !!! (In N mode should be at least 65 Mb/s)
I don't know why this happen, but in the spec of the phone I read WIFI b/g/n.
Onother bug or horrible mistakes by Sony ?
Usually in ICS, N mode is a default settings but in this case or the hardware isn't N or there is a bug somewhere.
I don't remember in GB but I'm not explaine why nobody talk about this here or in Arc/ray threads.
I understand ur havin wifi issues...what i dont understand is..why arnt you tryin to solve it...*****in bout it aint helpin..
i've never had wifi issues in .431, or .587, or any custom rom i've tried so far..lucky me
my neo v connects fine to 'n mode only'@72Mbps nd i guess neo nd prolly all the other 2011 phones do as well.. :good:

I haven't problem with wifi in 431 while I have it in 587, however this is not the point.
I'm talking about N mode, my Neo connects only to 54 Mb/s, and I though every xperia 2011 did the same, but you are saying the contrary.
So why you get N mode and me not ?
Other experiences?

Mea Culpa
My Neo can connect with N mode :good: but my personal router doesn't allow it for unknown reason, with other AP all is fine.
So please close the thread. Solved.

Hey everyone,
After flashing via flashtool the global 2.3.4 i noticed that the battery was draining way faster than normal. I should mention that i didn't wipe user data before the flash.
From what it seemed, "Android System" took up around 65% of the battery overnight without letting the phone go to sleep mode, losing 90% percent of battery in 8 hours.
My original setup was the stock rom and the doomlord v9. kernel. While trying to fix the issue n make the phone be able to go back to sleep i wiped user data n flashed the stock rom n kernel again with/without root, the SE tweaked v.5 rom, etc n the issue didn't seem to get fixed.
If anyone has any ideas on fixing that, or if it's safe to downgrade to 2.3.3 please share.
~The only thing running was a messenger app which usually uses 2-4% n my battery drain was around 3-5% overall with no use on 2.3.3 with the same setup.
(I'd post screenshots but the forum isn't letting me post outside links yet)

i have the exact same problem on a neo, a arc and a play sony f*** something badly with first 2.3.4 release, in the new 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware (not out for neo yet) things are better but not perfect, aaaa i forgot to say, if you stop wi-fi then the power consumption will be normal, or at least this happends to me, without wi-fi on everything is ok
use juicedefender it works for sure

yeah, i noticed the same thing last night too. wifi causes a wakelock for some reason which didn't ever happen on 2.3.3.
I even relocked the bootloader n upgraded to 2.3.4 via PCCompanion just to be sure i'm not doing anything wrong with the flashing and roms but doesn't seem to be fixed in any way..
Thanks for the info!

I just checked on pc companion and it's not available for me yet in the UK with 2.3.4 global.
It's not available for me here in Greece either.
I've done some reading around at forums n see what other people have been experiencing, n i somewhere read that in one case the issue was the SD Card (which is weird) and in another it was the automatic time setting via internet. I'm doing some tests right now trying different combinations, but from what i see the phone did go to sleep with Wifi on after i turned off the auto time setting.. Nothing's for sure yet though.
Interesting. I've make ftf file with LT15 loader and uploading now.
Tonight I'll try and share it.
Well, i'm confused. My phone seems to be back to normal for now. I put the SD back and enabled internet time, restored most of my apps to see if the wakelock would happen again but it's still working properly. Which means i don't have a conclusion of some sort.
~Update: Sim Card doesn't seem to be recognized now for some weird reason..
~Update 2: Backup & Restore was the issue here, after i deleted it n rebooted the phone SIM is working fine.

the only think i found is that it doesn't stay awake with all routers, it only happends if the router is WPA2 locked and it is "n" standard, the phone will do no problem if it is connected to a open b&g network.

You can either flash the doomkernel v9 that roots the phone by itself, or boot your phone into recovery mode and install the RootXperia if you prefer stock settings
Use Juice defender, you can allways gain some battery time.

hmm, what rom are you using? actually when i was on FXP 128, when i was charging my battery, it's just too hot, it's extremely hot! but then once i switched back to my ported miui, i never encounter such problem, to my opinion, it might be due to the kernel. :s not sure, though

thus i think the problem was your battery not ray, when the lion battery running out more then its lowest limitation, usually it would be badly hurt,

My data connection is always on, and I have no issues.
On-topic: you'll have to be more specific. Battery draining can be caused by a number of different problems, and unless someone here has encountered the exact same problem, we can only guess at this point.

Actually, the H represents HSDPA, which is faster than 3G (UMTS), it's 3.5G if you will. It's not 2G at all. Also, I have the H pretty much always, and I don't have any overheating problems. So I think your problem is either ROM or kernel related. For your interest, at the moment I'm on JJ's hybrid 3.2 and sirkay's XRay 7.3.431. With this setup, I don't have any overheating problems at all. (Thank you sirkay and jj doctor! :laugh

Try charging it via USB, it probably won't get as hot. Then change the kernel and/or ROM - something there isn't suiting your phone!
Overheating is a combination about rom+kernel+ baseband.
Make a clean install of your rom+ kernel and then flash the correct baseband. After i change mine my phone get cold than before.
BTW, wich rom ,kernel and baseband are you using? Maybe with that info we can help you better.
^^
I m using stock kernel and fresh gb,but still same.now I just ub my ray and gonna try custom rom and kernel
Guys wrong section, this shouldnt be in dev, this is for Q&A forum, next time pls post in Q&A....

Hello.
My girlfriend recently got a Sony Xperia U.
There are a few crucial problems.
First of all, the speed whilst being on Wi-Fi is ridiculeously slow. Did a comparison speedtest with my Desire HD, next to each other side by side, and my HTC got (literally) 10 x faster download speed than the Xperia U. For some strange reason though, the upload speeds were comparable.
Anyways, the slow download speed (reached only maximum about 114kbps) results in poor web browsing, facebooking etc so it's really annoying.
Another problem is that the network signal of the Xperia U is very low to sometimes non-existant.
The phone has the stock rom and is not rooted. So it's running on version 6.0.B.3.184.
Who can help me ? Or do I need to return the phone in the shop right away ?
Do software repair using PC Companion or Sony Update Service (SUS)
if that doesnt help give it to service senter.
After trying out a few methods, it seems that going to Menu - Xperia - Download internet & MMS settings seems to have solved the problem, download speeds are now over 20mbit with the speedtest whereas it didn't even reach half a mbit before.
Will report later after some longer time of testing to see if the problem is permanently fixed.
Had the same issue when brought my wife's brand new U from the store two days ago, extremely slow WiFi compared to my SGS. Reflashed the 184 firmware using SEUS this morning and since then it appears to be working just fine. Fingers crossed still, though...
Just read on this forum that the ST25a version of the U may be getting the ICS update in the coming days, so chances are our version will follow shortly. So, if reflashing the current GB doesn't help I'd still suggest to wait and give the ICS a try before considering the service shop.

How can I know if it is a ST25a version ? Anyways the problem sometimes comes back that download speed @ Wi-Fi is very slow.. like it totally blocks/lags (or goes ridiculeously slow) and then peaks again @ max values..
Is there any source for the ICS update of this phone ?
The ST25a the American version whereas the “i" refers to international, I believe. In any case the ICS update has not been out for either of these two yet afaik. Concerning the Wi-Fi issue I really have no idea what's causing it and/or how to actually fix it completely, I haven't been able to replicate it as if it occurs then it does it randomly and I suppose rather rarely now (I didn't receive any complaints from my wife during the past days).

Too bad there is no real clue for this wifi problem.. thanks for your feedback anyways.
Trying this application now
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wifiboostereasyconnect&hl=nl
Will report later.
Not working -_-
Thanks for the update! I guess the best option for us now is to wait a few days until the ICS update is made available (hopefully) and then if flashing that doesn't help we'll really be left with the one last option of claiming our devices with the service shop...

Will test this now, thanks for the tip.
So far so good, made my other half happy lol.. Although I don't understand such workarounds are needed to have stable Wi-Fi.. Glad it can be solved like that though, hope the ICS update (if it comes..) will solve these kind of bugs (and I didn't even start ranting about PC Companion bugging ****loads, sometimes not finding the storage, having to remove app data @ mtpapp etc etc..).
Reminds me again why I got myself a Nexus.. Xperia, sense, touchwiz, it will simply never work flawless.
Regardless of all this though for 200 euro/dollars this is a solid-feeling phone with decent hardware specs, front face camera and actually the interface is very smooth. Can't have it all I guess.
Use v6 SuperCharger, & 3 G turbo charger, it will. VERY VERY fastest for u (our XU), I installed v6 supercharger RC8.1 LASTEST & 3G TURBO & KISSASS KERNELIZED Tweaks Scripts.
They can do for ur phone fastest.
wifi, ram, scroll smooth,3G,etc...
(now I will answer my exams at 17.9.2012) I will link for u how to do.
Now u use google search how to do with Upper Name Scripts. O.k
Sorry for my English bad

On another router the Wifi is great.. Kinda ridiculeous workaround but at least it works, well a least the last few hours we tested.
She been on facebook all the time lol and no lags or drops so far.
Can confirm now that the problem is 100% solved by having connected to another wireless network (stealing unprotected wifi from the neighbour lol ).
No idea why on our own wifi here at home her XU is having big problems with wifi whereas with my own phone it never ever has any problem..

I'm not sure if your solution(stealing the wifi from neighbour) is valid for every person who can read this.
I have another solution, in your router wifi settings you probably have mixed networks enabled, like g and n standard. So, try to switch to
the "g only".
I'm quite sure it will help, in one of prev posts there was autosync disabling , this was temporary solution for me, I also re installed the soft,
But as far as I'm testing , the solution with router is solid.
i hav been using X10S v8.3 rom back in july.. and d phone ws smooth and all functions working properly except som bugs. camera ws fully working with not much probs... but after abt 2 weeks use..camera video recording starts malfunctioning... lik wen started video recording the phone shuts down in abt 10 to 20sec.. .it happens only in HD video recording.. al other modes is normal..
in august..i installed new FXP kernel and VR ICS cm9 rom .. as camera bug is known.. i dont use it.. yestrday..wen flashing latest rom leads to build.prop error.. so i decided to go back to sonys stock GB 2.3.3 stock rom by SE PC companion repair and returned to stock.. nw wen tested d camera.. dat same HD video recording bug returns.. it just turns d phone off after 6 sec.. also just before d display goes off, it shows sd card can be removed now and OFF..
why this happening to camera..even in the stock GB rom..??? is this bug related to sd card or due to X10S made it this bug???
i want to say one more thing...
wenever d phone is turned on or rebooted irrespective of any rom installed it used to hear a smal "tic" sound from d rear of the phone..and i tink its from d camera area.. if d fault is not roms.. then may be dat tic sound shows camera hardware damage may b dat causes d phone shuts down..automaticaly.. anyone with this same problm?????

Try clearing data and cache of the camera app.
If it doesn't work copy all your sd card content somewhere and format it. After this try to record hd video.
Also if above solution doesn't work go back to 2.1 by flashing via flashtool. As HD video was introduced in 2.1, a reflash to 2.1 might help. There's no harm in trying

I see I'm not the only one that has that problem. I thought it may be a battery problem. I've noticed also that shut down happens when the battery usage goes to max (max cpu. usage etc.) , not only by recording but also by taking a picture. Also when the battery is below 50%

Hey. guys. first off, i hope this is also the ray general forums.
now, my problem is that since i've started using custom roms and kernels the wifi is quite ****ty. i tested the range step by step and just after three feets and 3 of 4 bars of wifi strength, wifi just disconnects as if it is out of range !! is this a know problem ? is there a fix? i've used FXP, Pa, PAC and JellySandwich and all have the same results except for pac 15 and it's kernel and after updating to v16.1, it got screwed as well !!
HELP PLEASE !
