Now seeing that nearly every hd2 owner is no longer content with the winmo os it seems that all development goes into the other os bases. I have no problem with that but i believe that the native os for any device is the best, yes there is better and you can run them, but would u rather develop a means of running a better os or wowing people by bringing back a dead os?
Now to what i actually want to say... before i had the hd2 i had the xperia x1 (still my favourite) i thought of the panel interface as stupid and useless and with the new panel manager i realized something.....The problem is not the concept or the panel manager its the waste of its potential....
Now consider that the hd2 only has the call button to map to an app......if that app was the panel manager and devs created useful panels that the hd2 can utilize instead of stupid uis and half made programs.. ie
1. system panel which would control all the connections and commands like reset
lock ect. Also with a process manager, a ram cleaner and benchmark.
2. fun panel which would control all multimedia playing, uploading social sites and
of course a link to the xda forums.
3. update panel which would sync all the norm ( email weather ect) and also
use app to date for your apps.
4. streaming panel which could be as simple as the youtube app for htc but
could play stored flv files and stream from other sites in the best quality
5. ui and os panel which would either change the current winmo ui eg from
sense to bell or titanium and also boot all the stored os bases from the
storage card ( which is easy it can be a profile system where the user
chooses a profile and navigates to the location of the haret.exe which will
be saved by the panel.
6. hd2 panel which is basically the master of tweaking the hd2 via already
known registry mods.
i know this project would be alot of hard work but think abt it, i just made up 6 great panels off the top of my mind imagine what could happen in future development and dont forget all of this would be at the press of 1 button!!!! .
if you read this please comment this is a place of learning. stop reading only for benefits i really want to know what YOU think about this.
1-3 - can be created using sk-i as a base or many of the endkeys (mine in particular). just need some time and a graphics editor. also, why a panel for updating email, etc? just want it do do it.
4- quick link using sk-i. also search VideoLauncherv1.3WVGA for another good video browswer.
5- imo, CHT and CHTS makes all the other windows ui obsolete. also lots of boot programs for haret exist; quick links are your friend.
6- a lot of programs already do this. not sure a panel would be needed. could add the program link to your panels.
seriously CHT can do what you want. SK-I can show you how to spruce it up with panel type system.
cheers.
My Rezound seems to offer no way to change the Home Clock. I can add clocks, but I can't change or delete this one clock that is set to Arizona. I turned off Location Settings, too, but I still have the one Arizona clock (presumably because that's where Verizon ships from).
I am also trying to show a summary of a few scheduled activites on my Home screen, to no avail. It seems useless to me to have a Calendar widget that only shows one activity, because I would think people would want to see at least a few so they know what their day might be like, without having to always click on something. I know I have the option to select different views; trouble is that the other views are too big to be allowed to fit on the Home screen.
Any help in these areas would be greatly appreciated.
FWIW, I don't know how Android got to be so popular. Although it LOOKS cool, it seems very clunky trying to find things (things are often not sensibly placed), and the stuff like changing a clock or displaying activities should be easier to do. Perhaps I am missing something? :crying:
That is a bug in the stock HTC CLOCK.
I live in upstate NY and my clock insists I am in new York city (if I use current location) and there is absolutely no way to delete that location.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the clock etc and NYC just keep reappearing no matter what I do.
If I go to edit where it should be possible to delete NYC it isn't even listed.
This phone has been out for how long now? I run a software company myself, and there's no way we'd let a simple little bug like that ruin our reputation, never mind leaving our customers frustrated for this long. In fact, we'd have fixed something like that within days!
Thanks for letting me know that I spent nearly 20 hours on this phone, trying to figure it out. Do you happen to know if there is anything like a registry editor or something we can use to edit settings under the hood?
What about having an agenda listing on the Home screen, like Windows Mobile used to have? Know anything settings that might allow that? Or, am I wasting my time, there, too? I mean, first the clock, then I beat my head against the wall trying to get my Windows Media Player playlists to go across with HTC Sync, only to give up and manually copy them using "disk drive" mode. That's actually almost worse than the clock thing, in that HTC Sync offers the playlist option, but doesn't even see them on the PC!
For the calendar, which widget are you using. If you are using the one that is only 1 grid tall, that one is only made to show 1. If you need more than 1 event, just use the larger calendar widget.
Problem is that the other larger sized widgets aren't allowed to be place on the Home Screen, because a message says there is not enough room. SIGH

Tap the home button while on the Sense Rosie homescreen to bring the view out to display up to all 7 panels of the launcher. If you don't have all 7 active you have an option to add a panel. You may also delete an entire panel at once by tapping and holding the panel, then dragging to Delete. This allows you to add a fresh blank panel afterwards.
Alternatively, choose a panel to clear out manually. Tap and hold on icons and widgets until you enter an editing mode where you may reposition items or drag to the Delete icon.
It is simply wanting you to add a panel and/or clear out clutter manually first to ensure it doesn't delete your existing items.
Also note the Play Store has other launchers available you can try instead of HTC's Sense. Some allow more homescreens, but you will lose use of the widgets exclusive to the Sense interface. Some have comparable widgets integrated and there are apps with widgets in the Play Store too. It is suggested to get a feel for the stock Sense launcher a bit longer though.
Apologies for the double post, but wanted to address each topic seperate and Multi-Quote after the fact.

Take this with a grain of salt since I'm unfortunately running Sense 4 and not 3.5 or 3.6 right now. But I believe there should be a setting if you tap on the clock widget on your homescreen, go to the World Clock tab and hit the Menu button. If not there, then *somewhere* with the Menu for World Clock, perhaps when you select Edit if not the first option. If someone else could chime in on this.

A note to both of you: as far as this World Clock tab is concerned, this is precisely how a traditional traveler's clock works. It makes more sense when you realize the Home Clock is meant as the Home Time Zone. Just as when you set a time zone on a PC or forum, it usually just provides a list of major cities to choose from. I will say Sense 4 shows the current location in addition to this "Hometown" and unsure about older Sense but again, the primary function of World Clock is "nearby major city's timezone + time zones across other frequented or contacted locations."
Now jmoreton10, if the *weather* widget isn't showing your proper location, there is an issue with your Location settings. While the World Clock only can add and locate major cities, Weather should be able to tell where you are exactly by zip code. I may have had issues like that with both Verizon and Google location on; try using just Google location if you confirm Weather is not showing current location properly.

I don't think you understand what we're saying, or maybe we don't understand what you're saying. The Home clock does NOT display MY home. It displays someone else's home... in Arizona. I am in California. Moreover, the Home clock cannot be edited or deleted on the Home screen. However, if I add a traveler clock to ANOTHER panel/desktop/screen, I can choose what cities I want on it upon adding the widget, but once again, once the widget is added, if I click on the clock, I see the same Arizona Home clock in addition to the other cities I added. IIRC, Arizona does not change times when we "spring ahead" or "fall back" like we do here in CA. So, I think that kills your theory of a nearby major city in the same time zone, doesn't it? Same with those people seeing Detroit when they live in NY. Personally, I am really starting to hate Arizona!
New phone came in. Don't know if there's a difference, but it appears that there is a way to change the Home Clock. It's not very intuitive, but:
Click on the Clock Widget. On World Clock, choose the Menu button. Click Home Settings. Type your City, or SUPER HUGE MAJOR CITY nearby. Type VERY slow, because there is a very limited number of cities. If you type too fast for the app, it will give you a "not found" error. Dumb, I know, but at least we all now know WTH is wrong with this thing.
I have tried numerous searches, both here and google itself....and can't find an answer. I seem to find other people with a similar issue as I am having, but no resolution. I have 2 types of Clock/Weather widgets I have tried to use...both display the time correctly, but no weather. It will show my location, but again...no weather. When you click on where the weather would be, it will tell that there is no forecast details available. When I go into the settings of the widget app I am trying to use, and try to manually put in my location, It will say it can not find my location...no matter if i input the zip code, or city name. But again...the corrct location shows up on the widget itself when the GPS option is selected in location settings. The two widgets I have tried to use is, FANCY WIDGET - and LP SENSE CLOCK WIDGET (Both of which are HTC style clock/weather widgets, just the LP SENSE is the updated 4.0 version)
If anyone has insight on this, It would be appreciated. All I can seem to figure out the issue is, is that something on the phone is preventing weather to be displayed, as the problem happens on 2 different types of widgets.
I have tried a reboot, reinstall, wipe cache, etc
A lot of weather widgets that was using iGoogle's weather API is experiencing this because they shut down Google that API. Either wait for dev to update the app to use a different weather provider or switch weather services.

By switching weather services, do you mean by finding a new widget...or is there a way to change the widgets weather service? I have been trying to figure out a way by editing something within the widget by accessing the files with root explorer, but cant find anything.
You need a new widget. Something like AccuWeather, Weather Channel, Weather bug, etc. You need one that DOESNT use Googles weather service. I've never seen one that let's you change it.

Beautiful Widgets had an option to use either Google or Accuweather as a source, then again it's a paid app. I'm sure it's not the only one out there.

It appears Google has quietly killed its weather API
Reported story from http://thenextweb.com
Last month, Google announced plans to shutter iGoogle, among a bunch of other services. Many developers and users were (and still are) outraged, but at least they have some time to breathe: iGoogle isn’t going away until November 1, 2013. That means there are still 15 months left to adjust and export your data. Yet some changes are already starting to take effect: the company’s private Weather API, for example, appears to be dead in the water.
The Next Web has reached out to Google for comment. While there has been no official announcement or communication indicating that the API has been closed, it is noteworthy that iGoogle — the product that the API serviced — is now using Wundergrond.com instead, as you can see in these two examples: 94102 and Mountain View. This would suggest the search giant has knowingly made the switch.
It would appear that this error is happening because Google has quietly phased out its Weather API. A quick check over at Status Dashboard shows that the response time has dropped to -1 today.
In spite of no official word from Google, Web developers, many of whom have been experiencing issues, seem convinced that the API has been quietly closed down by the search giant. A Hacker News submission points to an error message that Google throws up when you try to query the Weather API with the 94102 area code in San Francisco while another developer over on Stack Overflow points to the same error when you search for a specific city, such as Mountain View:
We’re sorry…
… but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users, we can’t process your request right now.
See Google Help for more information.
The error page features the old Google logo and a 2009 copyright stamp. Twitter users also don’t seem pleased:
Google a coupé son API Google Weather, SUPER…

Things I did not plan on doing this week: Rewriting weather app because Google shut down their weather API!
— Bradley Batt (@bradbatt) August 27, 2012
So Google pulled the plug on their undocumented Weather API? Expect support tickets.
— Joël Cox (@joelcox) August 27, 2012
Web developer Jordan Stephens isn’t even bothering to look for alternatives. In fact, CurrentlyIn has been completely shut down as a result of the Google Weather API outage, according to an error message from the service:
currentlydown : (
Google has shut down its undocumented weather API (which was used by this site).
currentlyin.net will be down for the forseeable future.
As this is a private API, Google is arguably entitled to pull support without warning but that won’t stop developers being disappointed by the move and lack of communication. Since its main purpose was to serve iGoogle, it is perhaps unsurprising that Google has axed it.
I was using Beautiful Widgets. The update as of the 03/09/2012
version 4.12 - 3rd of september 2012

Yes Beauriful widgets is your best bet.
Well that explains a fair few things like why W&TW wasn't updating like it should've. While it's currently like 30°c outside today, it (W&TW), was only reporting a current temperature of 15°c, markably cooler then. Having taken the advice to uninstall and, then re-installing the App, has now left me with a dead App that can no longer pull in any Weather data here or from the States. beit by proper Place Name, or by Zipcode.
And I really loved W&TW too...
I for One am gonna miss the Cloud Animations.

I have an HTC HD2 too
and have had the same problem with Fancy Widget not displaying the Week's forecast:
This was resolved by going in to
Opening up the setting of Fany Widgets
Open Location & Settings
change to AccuWeather
change Geocoder to "Weather Provider"
and i only Tick "Geolocation" = dont tick "Use GPS" to save on battery life
This should also help with your Weather location remaining up to date
For catching bus every day, I needed better than minute resolution without the need to twist my wrist - and this is an watch face I came up with: Everyday.
The current version updates the time even in ambient mode every 20 seconds and it doesn't seem to have almost any noticeable effect on my battery. I usually end up with 65% when returning home from work and it is the same with this watch face.
So far the face is tailored a lot to my taste and preferences (black and white, 24 hour mode, date format etc) and it's not configurable. I might continue to experiment with more frequent updates.
Am I the only one who needs seconds in ambient?
Perfect! Thank you! :good:
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Using it with Sony Smartwatch 3.
Does not work
I get an error messsage: "Error: null" when trying to select background picture. How can I transfer the app from my phone to android smartwatch?
If anyone cares, here's the new successor watch face "Just Time" (for Android Wear 2.0+) I created. "Everyday Watch Face" will no longer be updated. Most of the functionality is there plus it handles complications (up to 2 long texts). Native wallpaper support was replaced with support for large background complications. One missing feature is support for custom fonts (TTF). There are also no configurable colors. Let me know if it's something you'd want to use.
It's still free, available from Google Play at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brouken.wear.face.justtime

I'm afraid I can't include it directly in the watch face as Product Sans license doesn't allow that. I count it as a request towards custom TTF.

Thank u very much. New widget is super. Would it be posible to make the font of the new widget like aod font? Further best weather app ever!
I tried this app, having used Weather Underground for the last couple of years. I found the interface of Today Weather to be much nicer looking, but I had a few issues which drove me back to Weather Underground.
1) The temperature graph on Today Weather is nice, but I missed the graph from WU, as well as the graph of rain chances over the next week.
2) The top two things I use a weather app for are looking at the forecast and looking at the current radar. Today Weather buries the radar at the bottom of the screen and you can't move it, plus....I just don't know. Is that really radar? It looks like no other radar I've ever seen. I certainly didn't trust it for accurate data. Plus, THIS is the thing that you have to pay for the premium version to get?? I paid it, and I was very disappointed.
3) This is perhaps trumped by #2, but I love that WU provides a radar widget.
4) Furthermore, I wish that the available widgets (which also looked great) had a bit more data.
Today Weather seemed to be primarily about looking nice, which it accomplishes astonishingly, and secondarily about giving you weather in multiple cities. As someone who spends 99.9% of my time in one city, that's not an important thing to me. If I traveled more, maybe...
I like this app. I bought the ad-free IAP on the Play store a few weeks ago to support your development efforts.
Tested your weather app (via above post ).
Really impress with app interface, animation, icon sets, and relevant info. .!
Your options /list re Weather Providers i like.!
Plse note that, I am a sucker for top quality, weather apps.
Have paid versions of most of Android
best weather apps.!!
Bought your app, Today Weather within
10 minutes of testing.!
Only negative comments i have
at moment is you weather radar...?
Could be better.!!!!
eg in G map it shows precipitation
as a white blob...? (instead of blue animation?)
Widget with hourly weather summary
would be nice ?
Good luck with a promising quality app.!
I have tried a few weather apps, but this one is one of the best

Great weather app. Beautifull. But...please please please..make a widget with fong and look like stock s8+ weather app.
Thank u very much.
Really liking the app and have unlocked with the IAP. Probably my only feedback is that the various sources for forecasts don't align with the official forecast issued by the Bureau of Meteorology here in Australia, they are all off by one or two degrees.
purchased the app. overall, I really like it..the look, information provided. The one thing I would like is a better radar. Live in an area with severe storms and it is very important to watch radar to see which way the storm is moving to know if you need to take shelter or not...Please add a better radar...thank you for a beautiful weather app.
Is it loaded with ads?
Purchased it a while ago already, really like it.
The only thing that annoys me is the temperature in the notification bar. At some point, it just stops updating and I have to click on it to open the app and only then it updates. For everything else, it's all good!

Thanks for update ( v 1.2.2.0905017) to weather radar ( G maps )
Already a big positive improvement from previous version !!
It"s a bit jerky and i noticed that the weather radar
does not keep data for offline mode ?
For me it's a big help and saves time , if during the day ,
I have to quickly refer back to weather radar (whilst in offline mode )
only to find no info available ?
......and have to reload the G map radar data ?
Great app, any chance of a mini refresh button in the widgets or a update interval section in settings? Like a previous user stated, sometimes the widget doesn't update.
not working in China
