My mom wants to get an iPhone, crazy! Could you guys give me reasons why she should get an android phone.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Well, if she isn't a tech savy person and will be using her phone for basic use, then it's probably the best choice to get an iPhone. The learning curve is much greater for an Android device. I even have trouble explaining how to use an iTouch to my parents.
The iPhone is a good phone, but for me personally, I wanted something a bit more involved and customizable. It's all personal preference.

Androids rock
iPhone's seem too locked down to me there's no real way to personalize it (e.g.-themes) so every iPhone looks identical. Androids u can make your own unique setup that no-one else has. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but i don't even think u can even have widgets just change wallpapers on the iPhone.

I liked it, next time since we all know you're "Blue Collar" you could call it "Blue Collar Review: HTC One" or w/e phone you do next.
That way you don't have to feel the need to tell everyone that you are. Other than that I think it was pretty good, no one starts out great, you'll get there!

I liked your opinions, they were helpful. The only critcism I would say is your camera angle and view. Maybe you should have a brief into looking at you, then after your intro flip your angle to the phone and show demo's of features of what you like on the phone itself. Typically when I watch reviews I want to see the product. Just waving it around didnt do it for me, but I liked your thoughts and opinions.
Good work man

I really like this review and I didn't mind that you added the bit about you being a blue collar worker and you wanted to look at the phone with a bit of that perspective. I thought that was a good addition to add. The only thing was a lot of "umm" here and there when you were trying to get a point across. I like that it had a more informal style and it sounded like it really came straight from what you were thinking there and not scripted and very formal. But becoming more confident and getting over the nervousness will really make it a lot better because when your nervous and using "umm" a lot, it makes it sound like you aren't too sure of yourself. I liked the video and subscribed because I think you got potential and I liked the style. Hopefully you'll do some more reviews of stuff and maybe even go over individual features you like about the One. Would be a good way to get more practice. Keep up the good work dude!

it's very helpful:good:
Heres a few tips.
You tried to give the viewer a diffrent real world perspective from your point of view.
1. You mention blue collar and im a welder etc.
Suggestion. How the htc one holds up well on the job. Beign a welder myself battery life etc etc is very important. And you can site more examples like importance of it in remote locations etc. Where my job takes me etc a Real world outdoor experiance with the htc one.
People dont need to hear/know blue collar etc. And office job etc.
What you can do is spin it in that sense. Not only like does it connect the user with a scenario but it highlights the devices strengths.
2. The method your speaking etc is just like the way you'd speak to a friend. You can use this style just need to refine it more.
Ill keep pondering and update.

No trolling!! Thinking about moving to iPhone?. I really like the design since the iPhone 4. I love big phones phablets. I love android I'm a neutral. But recently Apple's new gold iPhone caught my attention, not just the design but updated internals, I know I know, overpriced. Not as open as phones. But is it really bad to try something new, see if they really talk true about how perfect the iPhone is? Please no trolling. I recently was offered an iPhone 5 64gb in trade for my ultra. Let me know your thoughts guys. Thanks

Lol, I mean yes. Restrictive and small. But games and apps are more popular and big names like Disney and stuff like that, my daughter likes to play and not much of that is available on android.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
If you're not feeling the borders of restrictions due to your way of usage, then its just about the screensize. So if you want a way to use the apps, then go for an iPad Mini.
Gives you the best of both worlds.
Disney option for your daughter, and a good phone (XZU) for you.

There is nothing wrong or bad about the iPhone. It is the best out of the box solution for most people. No need to add apps or do more than minimal set up. It works and works well. Not for me though-I like big screen, customization, variety of apps and the ability to experiment. Android is less defined and more challenging-a tinge of excitement in an otherwise mundane landscape.
Android is more defined and less challenging than ever-it's losing its edge. With CyanogenMod going corporate, hopefully someone new will step into the captain's chair and boldly go where no one has gone before. We are talking Smart watches, Google glass, flexible phones and credit card phones that slip into your wallet. Maybe a phone implant with your hand as the dial pad? What about a phone you never touch? Sounds like something Steve Jobs would like to do. After all, Android fell from the Apple tree.

Weird, Android was created 4 years before IPhone and by a team of 4 people who never worked for Apple.
This is a really personal matter. But if you like phablet, you have the best of it in your hands. The guy who offer you an iPhone 5 against your XZU know what he is doing. He would be all winner.

Urm, sorry, but android was only in beta in 2007, not released publicly until 2008, iOS was mainstream in 2007. And Eric Schmidt came from Apple. Just setting some facts straight.
I think for a child's needs, iPhone is a lot more suitable. Has better security and apps. But agree with above poster, get her an Ipad and keep the ZU for yourself!

Android was actually meant to power printers back in the days, and then they concentrated on making it into a smartphone OS - but with physical buttons like a good ol' Blackberry. Then when the iPhone got released, they scrapped all of that and went with the touchscreen experience. A smart move, but Android wasn't the first touch friendly OS.
But let's not make this thread into a flame thread. OP is curious and is thinking about jumping ship. I was an iPhone users before I got a Desire HD, and it was "fine". iOS is an okay OS for what it is, but I quickly grew tired of its restrictive nature. I jailbroke and what not, but let me tell you that things that isn't "native" to iOS ("widgets", and other springboard mods) ran like complete ****. If you want a simple and straight forward experience, then iOS is the perfect solution. I've recommended the iPhone to a lot of friends who only send SMS' and do simple things. If you're an advanced user that likes to modify and actually DO stuff with your device, it'll be hell on earth.
If you want a PHONE, get an iPhone. If you want a flexible DEVICE, keep the Ultra.

I dig apple products. I own pretty much every apple products, except for the iphone. I had the first gen up to 4s. I needed big screen phone because of poor vision..hence the Note1. But now im a much happier camper with zu.
Iphone5 for the ZU? Heck NO. 5s maybe.
I very like iPhone 5s hardware specs...it's sick....nothing to say.
To each of us their own... I'm quite happy with the Ultra, could be perfect if Sony fixes the SOD. Nevertheless I was playing with the 5S yesterday and it's silky smooth, couldn't avoid imagining it with a bigger screen... But that doesn't exist, so far there is no perfect device but at least we have plenty of options.

Yes. That's what I'm saying. The iPhone has an amazing design and the internals are eye candy. I would go with like a 32gb since no sd slot. I see the iPhone as a more professional device.

I had posted this in the Carbon thread but figured I'd make it easier to find. It's not very in depth and it really turned into a cRookeD ROM review (that's my totally awesome nickname for my tweaked ROMs based off other people's incredibly amazing hard work). It's pretty unorganized so if there is anything I didn't point out or cover, let me know. I had fun doing this and wouldn't mind doing it again. My only worry is that I've broken some rule by doing this so if I did, let me know and I'll remove the link faster than you can say h...
Much obliged to Carbon and oblikas for giving us this greatastic ROM.

Uploading another video. Not a review but I talk about my purchase of the Nexus 5. Yea, I'm on VZW but I gotta see what it's about. I ordered pretty early so with reports of people having theirs being shipped already, I will be close behind. As soon as I get it, I'll post a comparison. I've no doubt it'll make us feel OK with the fact we VZW users haven't missed out much.... Better camera, bigger screen, bigger battery and the best coverage available. I'll just provide proof.

So disappointed on the nexus 5 and the issues it has. Glad I got my G2 and waited for some reviews first. I'm sure the Dev. Community can tweak the display on the N5 to make the whites whiter and fix the under saturation.
I'm big on the Nexus devices but just don't see a reason to buy the N5 right now.
Thanks again for the video review

No problem, I enjoy it.
The color... Yea. I'm getting a replacement for the defect and while neither the Google rep I spoke with or I believe this to be the case, maybe the screen colors are effected by that defect. Or maybe that's just representative of a bigger problem. I suppose I'll find out.

Hi guys, I'm set to be going coasteering again soon, if you haven't been, if definitely suggest it! But, back to the point, my girlfriend is leaving soon add I want to get some photos and videos if the experience for memories sake, I know the phone is waterproof, but if I'm jumping off cliffs into the sea, I may drop my phone and then it'll sink and I'm screwed!
So I was just wondering if anyone know of any cases that float or any other way I can keep it from sinking apart from just leaving it at home?
Thanks in advance!
Sent from my D6603 using xda premium
I've never tried coasteering, sounds like fun though!
Not sure about cases, but there are buoyant lanyards available if you do a quick google search for that - might be the right sort of thing for your situation.
Yeah, really good fun!
Ill have a look, I just need it to be secure and float, so that should be cool
Thanks for that!

I'm also looking for something similar to the HitCase or LifeProof ones for iPhone (don't want a lanyard version).
