[APP][JB] ApolloMOD - Modified Apollo Music player(updated 3/10/13) - EVO Shift 4G Themes and Apps

Description:
This is the great thing about Open source, you find an app that is almost exactly what you want and you can tweak it to make it perfect for yourself!
This is based on CM10.1 Apollo Music source code, with lots and lots of changes. The package name will be ApolloMod from this version forward.
NOTE: You will have to hit 'play' or another button on the widget to get it to change themes after altering settings, I am working on getting the widgets to update themselves after a setting has changed.
Features:
- Reworked ALOT of the UI, some big changes & some small(check the screenshots below)
- Fetches album art from files before fetching from the web
- Ability to edit album, artist, playlist & genre images(long press images on their respective views)
- Tab visibility controls(only show the tabs you wish)
- Grabs highest quality images available from the web
- Ability to choose widget style (holo dark or holo light)
- Extended notifications
- Audio visualizations on now playing screen(experimental at this point)

To be honest it could have been any of the newer devices... No lag, big screen, dev support... Doesn't take much to make me happy. I pretty much only run AOSP anyways.

I'll probably have another update to this today, there was something else in the UI that bugged me a little that I am changing now.

EDIT: OP updated with stuff I posted here

new version is up

Re: [APP]Modified Apollo Music player(updated 2/17/13)
Awesome:thumbup:

Ok, I will probably have another update for this again today. This time it will be some new option/functionality added.

This is nice, I likey. bilgerryan hipped me to this in the E4GT forum. Thank you BigSplit

Version 2 brings alot of changes in the ui, some subtle and some not so subtle. These changes started as me wanting to make the controls on the bottom actionbar more prominent and became something more. Some may not like the changes, but at the end of the day i'm doing this for myself first sorry.

It's an apk not a zip. Install it like an app.... With a file explorer. Nowhere does it say to flash in recovery.

It's an apk, not flashable through recovery. If you don't already have Apollo installed you can simply side load it by putting it on your sdcard and going through whatever file manager you have to install it.

Oh, and no update today. I originally started adding native last.fm scrobbling support when I made my post earlier, then realized that now it actually does support third party scrobbling through last.fm's official app, simple lastfm scrobbler and etc. Thats good enough for me, for now atleast.
So I moved on to making it load album art from the files first, before fetching it from the net if it doesn't exist in the file. I actually do have that working, but I have an idea of how to implement it differently. So I'm going to start over and do it differently.

This is a work in progress. The goal of this project is to move it into a Theme.apk for the new "Theme Chooser"
Credits:
tnpapadakos (buy him a cappucino)
This is his hard work, and it's very good looking, I'm just trying to help minimize the zip size and get it moved to an apk for Tmobiles Theme Chooser
this is a good start in the right direction, dueces
Awesome, thanks!
*sigh* - DON'T
Seriously, guys... The themeing engine was added to CM7 precisely to avoid this kind of messing up with the ROM, so *don't* do this. Themes can now be built and distributed as APKs, you can even market the damned things...
This comes from an installable APK, for example:
xttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/10355648/mau5-land.png
Check the vendor/tmobile/themes/Cyanbread and Androidian stuff for examples.
Awesome I love it thanks
So this is a .apk or theme? Could you explain a bit more why you say this is a bad idea?

Had some issues, working now on #15. I edited the link in post #1 for the working full colorized build #14
I dig this, but am not keen on flashing something on top of nightlies that could jack with the ROM that's already a WIP.
Once you convert to a theme I'll definitely give it a whirl (not much liking the current 3 themes, but love the functionality & options it will bring).

It's a theme, installed as an APK. Messing up with ROMs to change layout has always been a problem, it's _very_ easy to mess up something, especially when those changes are done by simply repacking the resources (unzip, replace, re-zip). It's a fairly frequent source of support problems for developers, and it's just an ugly way of themeing a phone.
CM7 includes a themeing engine developed by T-Mobile, and the main reason for it is to prevent these problems (and it is _very_ powerful, allows you to change almost anything from layout to animations, not just graphics). If you're running a recent build of CM7 (or any of the many CM kangs) , open the "Theme Chooser" application and choose one of the 2 samples: they are a very small example of what can be done. Note that even the window transitions are changed. Then search the market for "greybeard", and have fun installing your first market theme

well, no, its not a theme yet
its actually a kanged version of cm7
THE ONLY THINGS THAT ARE CHANGED ARE:
images in framework, SystemUI, Settings, Bluetooth, Browser, Calculator, Calendar, Contacts, Deskclock, Email, FM, MMS, Music and Phone
no layouts or xml files are changed, only images
the images changed have the exact same names, they have only been colorized so that the menu icons and notification bar icons that were grey/black and white before are now colored...some others that were colored before (like battery for instance) were changed to blue or some other design that i preferred (i personally cant stand the signal bars/wifi indicators in gingerbread)
this was originally just something i was doing for myself for a few months starting in july, 2010, but after i finally shared it in october over at cmforum, it took off as people liked it
there is nothing else changed in the ROM itself, so flashing this overtop of your current version of cm7.*** doesnt "break" anything else
so really its as simple as having both versions available on sdcard and flashing one or the other
honestly, its much to do about nothing, its just a different look
if someone can tell me how to "theme" the framework, and all those apk's listed above without doing it this way, i'd be glad to do it, it would save me alot of work, but i like doing it anyway

For those of you crying that this will break ****: No, it won't. It is a full rom. Nothing is broken/breaking.
I am working on adding it to the theme chooser, as that's the goal here.

fixes
1.there is a small glitch with the market after the first few times you use it
to fix it you go into Settings/Applications/manage applications/all and click on the following:
Google Backup Transport - then click clear data
Google Partner Set Up - then click clear data
Google Services Framework - then click clear data
Market - clear data
Reboot the phone, and Market should then work
Make sure you add your gmail account 1st and attempt to use the market
2.in order to get the icons back in the wp7 build you must go into launcher settings and change the color of the tiles
3. i seem to have forgotten to change the "rel_path=" in the magldr startup.txt, so to change it just rename android to the folder name you use and make sure to add your gps zone
Q & A
how do you change the lcd density?
you go into the included build.prop folder and copy the root folder into the honeycomb folder. like this: sd card/honeycomb/root. the numbers of the folders are the lcd densities
ugh more forgetting...
now you must create a path in your android folder... like this honeycomb/root/system/ and you place the build.prop there

Are they all CM7?
Guys, you know you could just use CM7 theme chooser to mod WP7, Xperia, Sense, Honeycomb, Galaxy S, and even Motoblur.
All in this forum thread right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=527
This is sort of a useless thread. Isaiah, work on that Honeycomb sense build. It's pretty amazing.

i appreciate the input for the users but i try to do a little more than just the theme chooser in each one of my builds. i use several different apps to make it as much as what i'm trying to do as possible. these builds will eventually mature and move more and more away from just a theme. and if you have any ways of doing that i'll be happy to listen

Be sure to thank kevin2516 for his MotoBlur theme for CM7 theme chooser.
Here's the theme apk and launcher icons.
You're smart enough to figure this out.
I posted in the AmericanAndroid thread how to mod the launcher, if you need help you can always check post#3 there.
BTW, it looks identical to the real thing. You could pass it off as one of your new builds. xD

kevin2516 is just Quietly Brilliant!
First impressions:-
1)Boots and feels faster than other SD builds
2)Wifi works, even with Adhoc
3)The market didn't let me download anything until I cleared the data for the systems apps as it's mentioned by Isaiah in his fourth post.
The only thing that is preventing me from using this awesome build is that every time I try to install anything from the SD-card or from the market the phone restarts itself?
-tested on both Honeycomb and Xperia builds.

Loaded honeycomb for a while: First impression, stable and fast, had no problems
with wifi, market and some other apps I tried but if I change the density with included app
and reboot I can’t unlock the device, I tried 160,180,220 settings with no luck.
Any advice?
Thanks.

changing with the app is only temporary. you should change it by copying the build.prop in the included folder. you just copy the root folder to the honeycomb folder. if you want to change it to a number that i did not include use es file explorer.
isaiah,
Which sense software/version are you using?
Sense: My report
First of all: Thx for this very fast sd-rom!
Usability: very smooth
Graphic: no glitch!
WIFI: ok
Sync: MyPhoneExplorer (I'm searching for HTC Sync )
Phone: ok (3g,2g)
Data: I'm not able to connect to my mobile operator
I've tested it with national and international roaming settings - but no success.
Maybe this issue occurs because i'm using a virtual mobile operator?
Please keep on developing such interesting build.
Please let me know, If I can help with testing a new version.
bye
peter
jus tried the xperia v1 sd rom..
vr fast boot n smooth during the operation.
but i cant get to log on the facebook with error..

This is a port from CDMA EVO 3D Paranoid by Lens_flare so credits for him Here, of course the base is Disarmed toaster by Agrabren, so also credits for him. This port was made for my own use, but some users asked me to publich it on a thread so they can have a place to discuss the bugs and the ROM stuff.
Note: I don´t have much free time to dedicate to this thread so please don´t expect much support or fast bug fixes.
Note: Please note that this ROM wouldn´t be possible without the great work by Lens_flare so please thanks him on his original post Here
PER-APP-COLOR, Paranoidandroid´s newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel (same that allows you to scale apps individually and choose their interface). See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.
•Chose your statusbar style, regular PhoneUI, Nexus7-PhabletUI or a combined TabletUI systembar. Choose from a variety of toggles and toggle layouts, switches, holo-buttons, toggles or icon-text-toggle rows.
•Get a ton of features on top of Cyanogenmod’s catalogue. Dabble with opacity, see-through options, eventualy colors, etc.
•Our images and graphics are made by a dedicated artist, www.krebsmilk.de
•Hybrid mode is the heart and soul of paranoidandroid. Forget tablet mode or build.prop changes! Hybrid mode will not break your phone, your apps, your market, nothing will shrink or become unusable. Entire parts of AOSP have been rewritten to make this possible, you will not get anything like it anywhere, this is the only rom on Android capable of these things.
•Hybrid mode means you can control the size and the actual layout of any app individually. Keep in mind, apps bring their own layouts, they will display according to your device. That’s why apps like gmail, settings, youtube, camera, chrome, etc., transform completely when you run them on a tablet. This rom allows you to choose whatever layout you like best, we don’t fool around with DPI, we extract the actual layouts from your apk’s and you select them with a tap. Apply and you’re done. No reboot necessary. You can target anything: apps, system components, widgets, launchers, keyboards, statusbars, lockscreen, etc.
•Finetune your workspace or apply hybrid settings to all your apps if you don’t like to set them up individually. Individual settings will still override this so you can still get the look you want.

sorry, i will fix now.
Music is only playing through the right headphone, with both my PC headset and HTC earphones. Is this a bug, or did I do something wrong?

it may be a bug.
Anyone else have the same problem?
Other than this one little problem, it's a great rom, and since it has gapless playback with audio then once it's coming out of both headphones it will be amazing
Camera is more stable than agrabren's, scientific calculator, yes sound only comes out of one hear phone, use wifi file explorer to access sdcard, phone calls are clearer and no buzzing sound or clicking sound when disconnecting from calls, overall, yes some bugs but it is an improvement

My sim card is not being read with this ROM is there any fix?
EDIT: for anyone having this problem, I fixed it by disabling 2G data mode only, for me set by default

Index
Hi, this ROM it's now featured on the Index of ROMs from the Android Development Forum.
Any observation please send me a PM.
Finally a ROM which is creative in their looks! Nowadays you see new devs coming with almost the same ideas like putting the best tweaks/mods in it and it's done (no offence). I really love you put CM9 and MIUI together. I am downloading it right now and cannot wait to flash it!

Okay.
Its actually quite simple to port from i9100 to i777... It usually takes 30 minutes top to port at least for me.

Hi, first of all my congratulations! It is something completely different! Bravo!

Then I was trying to synch my contacts with my google account but there is no such option, or is it me that I can not find it?
So much thank you

Please install Gapps package to get a file explorer. Since the ROM is based on cyanogenmod you can download the Gapps package from cyanogen. I will edit the post and add a link in the description. Here is the download link for Gapps

I really like the idea of it, but there are still some couple of graphical bugs. For example the status bar, if you drop it down you see a little line on the bottom which is from the normal screen. The status bar isn't fully on the screen. Another bug I had is when I restored my apps via ROM toolbox. After I restored them and opened the app drawer some of those restored apps had a large icon. I couldn't find how to make it smaller.

Thanks for trying out the ROM and providing your feedback. We are still lacking on some graphics and we will improve it in coming weeks and we will also have more themes to try out. Regarding the large icons issue, we haven't observed it during our testing. We will test specifically on this and get back to you.

** Install Instructions **
Clean Wipe and Flash Talon 1.0.zip (Flash boot.img if you are S-On)
The first time the ROM boots after install, the boot animation will appear to freeze. Just give it a minute and it will finish booting to the home screen.
In the welcome wizard, uncheck the two settings that say "Backup my account to Google." If you have a backup app, Google backup is unnecessary and can confuse the ROM.
At the end of the setup wizard, it may appear to be frozen. Press the home button to open launcher.
By default, the ROM has the system theme. To get the ROM how it looks in the screenshot, first go to System Settings -> Themes and choose to apply your choice of Pitch Black (blue on black) or Jelly Black themes (white on black).
Press home to go back to the home screen and open the Nova Launcher settings. Look for the section that says Look and Feel -> Icon Set. Choose the Minimal icon set (which are black and white icons).
To get the AOKP wallpaper, long-press on the desktop, click Wallpapers then choose "Swag Papers" as the source. The wallpaper in the screenshot is the very first one in the gallery.
For some reason, the Camera icon isn't in the dock by default. All you have to do is open the app drawer, long-press the camera icon and then when the home screen shows up, drag it to the empty space on your dock.

I know lol. I just downloaded and came back to give thanks and the thread was gone.
To anyone who downloads, I just realized I forgot to tweak the MMS app to not split text messages over 160 characters. If you don't want split texts, just use the MMS.apk from one of Neo's roms. I will upload the one from Infection in a bit.
So good to see you back. Love your rom's. Thought you may have gotten a new phone and were gone for good. Thank you for the ROM.

No, a coworker accidentally knocked my 2 TB external hard drive off my desk and killed it. I tried to dev on another PC and ran out of hard drive space. You literally have to have a minimum of 50+ GB free just to work on one ROM.
Neo helped me find a working build setup. It's good to be back! And I plan on being with the Rezound probably at least through January, if not longer. Glad to be part of our little community.
And hope you like the ROM. It's not as fast as Neo's ROMs, but the CrossBreeder mod I baked in makes things pretty snappy.
I gotta say, this is awesome .

Yep running very smooth so far. I love AOKP. For those who still use openpdroid, it works fine, no issues.
As always Brenuga, amazing work. This is the fastest aokp rom I have used to date. I love aokp and am really happy we have you working on it. Great job. Gotta send you some money sir.
Google backup is unnecessary and can confuse the ROM so if I use google to back up should I not try this rom? Confuse like not run like it should.?

Cool beans. My wife now has my Rezzie these days but Im thinking about replacing the CM10.1 build on it with something more recent. Is this pretty much stable/bug free?
Thx for the work! :good::good:

Been running amazing for me since it was released. No random reboots, lock ups, and getting great battery life. Thanks again brenuga
issue?
I have flashed this and the rom itself is great so far...but when I went to change the wallpaper to one of the photos from my phone it says "no external storage". I cant even use the camera, says the same. I can mount the phone to pc and see everything as I should and via card reader. Strange thing is I can flash things in recovery with the rom from the external sd...I don't get it. Gonna switch back to previous rom and see if it finds the external storage. Will post back.
