Oh, you're serious...
Tried it: Yes
How does it play: Well... it does play, but there is CONSIDERABLE lag.. but it is smooth lag, if that makes sense.
You can see stutters in the game start-up flyby and the initial beach landing. but the FPS are just enough so that you can move and engage the enemy, Just don't count on reaction time... you have none.
ROM: GB 2.3.3 (ALL bloatware removed and I include FB, twitter and etc as bloatware) approx 150MB free memory
Kernel:: DoomKernel V6 @ 1190MHz Governor: SmartAssV2 I/O: sio
If you're paying money to play Modern Combat 4 on the XPERIA X10i only.. Don't do it, you're wasting your money
The XPERIA X10i will play "Front Line Commando", but again there is considerable lag.

Just be aware, you will need EVERY drop of memory you can wring out of the XPERIA X10i.
I would say 150MB of free memory is the minimum and that'll mean Force Closing any service application you have active.
I couldn't even get a screenshot beyond the initial loading stage as aScreenshot.apk was swapped out of memory.
At least on the XPERIA X10i with MC4 the easy level becomes the new extreme level
Enjoy...if you can.

Thanks brother i have installed it and playing campaign as well as multiplayer and to my surprise nothing lags. I have ~135 mb free ram when i start the game. I think the thanks goes to zerta x (buda1996) and fera kernel 3.6. By the way, are the graphics same on other devices as on ours???? Cz i dont see that much detail
It's playable very much on DiXperia 8 Gaming version, but to be honest, this ROM is not free. I think DiKeJ shows on his YT channel how games working on this version, there wasn't MC4 there (video was recorded before relase I think), but still there are games like N.O.V.A. 3 or The Amazing Spider-Man and I can say that having Premium by DiKeJ is preety awesome feature .

If I compare a 480x854 X10i with BRAVIA engine v1 to an XPERIA LT26i 720x1280 with BRAVIA engine v2 ... then yes there is a lack of sharpness and picture depth.
But that's a bit unfair as you're comparing a WVGA to a HD 720p screen so there has to be a loss of clarity.
My screen captures in previous post are 80% reduced jpg, so if your image on your screen doesn't look 20% better than my screen captures, maybe your screen is not reaching it's potential. Maybe if I 'kill' the BRAVIA engine (if it does have some benefits/impact on X10i) then I may get a few extra FPS with a slight loss of screen sharpest. Swings and roundabouts.
BTW. The battery gets pretty toastie.

That battery definately gets toastie. And game is 30~40% better then your screenshots... Is there any difference between no. of players playing if we get game officially or we get a cracked version cz i play mc3 also and there are much more players as compared to this one

Yeah I know it can be preety hard for those, which one dollars are not normal currency . But ...You can always ask DiKeJ not to buy full Premium, but only DX8 Gaming, then the cost should decrase much ^^.

hey guys i wont try mc 4 because mc2 runs (ran too on stock) and so on. I have dixperia 8 gaming and it is just awsome! also if you are not mainly a gamer you will love it.
for free roms you can try techdevils gamimg rom, it was very near to dixperia 8 gaming but it has an ugly notification background and no support at all while dikeJs still supports all his roms.

if i remeber correctly than this swap does nothibg other than compress the cache data of an app and save it on the sd card so you can use more ram. if you start the app again the data will be loaded into cache again instead of building it up again. So the app starts could take a little longer.
And i heard that the sdcard can crash because of this (what should take years so...) and thats why i dont use it. for much ram use some light rom, techdevils is very good.
and ram is there to be full so dont use a task killer, free ram is useless.

i have no idea i think i tested v20 but didn't like themes and now i have a ps vita so.... not much playing with x10 anymore. especially for gaming i had techdevils ultimate gaming rom (tug) and dixperia 8 gaming which are mostly at the same level in performance, but tug is ugly (notification background).
i mostly choose dx8 gaming because i like light roms. If you take techdevils meego light rom or some light stockbased rom and supercharge it you should be able to get everything out of your x10

My 20 year old cousin sister is looking for a Android phone and the ACE just about fits in an extended budget.
Is the phone good? Or are there any better alternatives at similar prices?
The internal memory at 158Mb seems too low, is this a problem?
Will she be able to run games like Angry Birds?
She needs a stable ROM and will not be messing up with the phone much. Which ROM / Kernel is recommended?

If you know how to install ROM's and the necessary additions, 158 mb is not a problem. And this phone is damn good. Easy to flash ROMs and make the phone easily modified.

Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman at almost same price in mumbai.. and worth of price as more ram + processor + 320MB storage + ICS + walkman quality.... so it would be worth that money...
if you like ace then you might want to wait for some time as ace plus is expected to be launched at 15k with some good improvements
since she wont be messing about with the phone much, maybe stock roms would be better(functions like swipe to call) try ICS stock by rushabh25 its in the development section

Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
This was my first Android phone so I really don't have vast experience, but I have learned to install CM7.2, many mods, hacks, etc and the phone is going like a champ, so it can take heavy modding and inexperienced users.
It is true that the limited internal memory is a problem, at least to me and it lags a bit playing games, even being OC'ed and optimized by scripts.
I do still recommend it, just make sure you install a lightweight launcher and try to keep the always running apps (facebook, twitter, whatsapp, etc) to the minimum those precious MBs of ram do hurt the performance, also disabling big, heavy widgets has shown improved performance.
Do not try to overclock over 902Mhz, I keep mine at 884Mhz though at 902 it was able to run normally throughout the day, but when playing games or doing CPU intensive tasks I do get hard resets.
I hope this helps you in making your mind.

I also think you should try for yourself.
You do get some more features like
i> Media apps (Album, Movie, Walkman)
ii> Extended battery backup (It works as it should)
iii> Backup and restore app
iv> visualizer in walkman
v> efiicient ics task killer
vi> upgraded notification bar
vii> Battery percentage
And lots more than I don't remember at the moment
as for performance it's good enough for me. free ram is about 150mb avarage but you don't need free ram, as you may have heard 'free ram is wasted ram'.
The games are a bit smoother and nenamark 2 benchmark increaed fron 29.5fps to 30.6fps
Considering all that
Q> Is ICS worth it?
Ans : that's your decision.

mark, I give a tip of the games you should try and see and have lags before releasing the rom, to see if the performance is optimal ...:
Need For Speed Most Wanted
The Amazing Spiderman
Wild Blood
AVP Evolution
ganstar Rio
Modern Combat 4
and Grand Thef Auto Vice City ..
These games are more commonly given lag, and thus always from my point of view, determine if the rom has optimal performance or not ..

OMG, the title says [ICS]
| CyberScopes |
sorry didnt noticed
markphyton can you make it multiboot aware please....
and if you want i can test it for you too...
well, i tested this rom since yesterday..thanks mark.
1-great rom, super eye candy, fast enough after 1 boot (takes a long time as he said, just wait it will boot).
2-music great,all features working,great look,nice sound.
3-with all my normal installation in a rom i didnt find any bug at all..
4-only play store get to stuck a bit.i did this, out of the app, force close, turn off wifi, and launch again..works fine then.
5-needs debloat..only 130-150 ram free..not bad but could be a little better. i used titanium backup to do it,and remove many things i simply dont use..everybody can do the same, but it was nice if mark do a light version.
6-gaming..i was really surprised..Vtennis 4 and NFMW runs amazing..(i recommend setting cpu max 1204 and min 249 to play better but its fluid..a tiny lag here and then but even in GB we have it sometimes. see here NFMW TEST CLICK HERE
7-battery life- i was surprised..since last night (12 hours or so after all my normal installaton to prepare the rom and all and after i sleep (all night network on, 1% battery spend only ) i spend like 12% overall..listen to music, playing for some minutes to test..so its great.
8-camera,video (1280x720)and panorama working fine.
kernel used LUPUS BETA V12 ICS 720p..i will try with new GB+ICS.:good:
so..this rom so far 9/10.amazing work mark.

Performance is a subjective term..
It varies from person to person.
Well, games do lag on our phones beyond a point and I've seen every android device lag after sometime of use while doing heavy multitasking, etc
Android OS as such needs to undergo a lot of development .
Well, you do have to pay a price for the seamless customizing option it gives us..

Would recommend you to switch to Super Jelly Bean v5.o + Fusion v5.5 kernel.
And yes, avoid overclocking. I never do. And if you switch to any SJB or moAOKP v3, you'd get enormous amount of RAM that you need not overclock!

I tried gingerbread. It works like a charm but I don't like it because many apps are not compatible with it.I am now using SJBX v5 and it is the best jb rom ever.

Well yes, not all apps are compatible with it. Just think like your phone was a computer/PC.
You install windows xp which is themable and can become like windows 7 (i think transforming it to windows 8 would make it less efficient.)
So you have the lightets and most beautiful version of windows ever on your pc. But still windows xp can only use directx 9 and cant use internet explorer10 (but anyway who's using internet explorer nowadays.). Also a lot of software is not compatible with it.
So you install windows 7. Windows 7 will give you an amazing collection features, apps and such but they will perform slower compared to windows xp. (We are always talking about a computer with about 1,3~1.5Ghz proccesor)
So you must choose between these two: A lot of compatible apps and slow speed OR excellent performance with lower app compability. Well you choose. Gingerbread or ICS/JB. It is up to you and how you are going to use your phone.
Also with the lemon cake (if i rember correctly) version of android there is going to be a huge performance increase because it is going to support phone with ram of about 512MB which is what our phone has. And with a fully working kernel 3 Performance should be increased [email protected]!

You're right. Each one of us has to choose what it wants.I think I will wait for the Lemon Cake.Hasn't our phone only 384 MB of RAM?

actually it is 335 for gingerbread
340 for ics and
384 for jb *as you said
Well because of the fact that i am afraid of unlocking my bootloader (no money to fix/replace the phone from any damage caused) i cant tell you about custom kernels. But our phone has in general 512mb of ram. Generally some memory is taken by the kernel for some functions for example camera/gpu. Camera 720p has been removed from jelly bean so thats why it has more free ram.
That happens on every phone i guess.

Thx for explaining me.Now i understood. But why does the gingerbread work smoother than jb if it has less RAM available
Oh,and i have another question(about CSR Racing). When I am on stock gb or ics when i press to shift the gears it goes late(doesn't matter if i oc or not).I mean like 3 sec late. But when i am on a custom rom it changes the gear perfectly. Why is that happening?

Well it seems to be lighter and probably I guess more optimized. Ram doesnt matter for performance in this case. Gingerbead was made to work on devices with even lower ram thats why no problems excists. Also my guess is tha Jb can work on even less ram smooth enough. Ram in android is mostly occupied by cached processes which are "useless" for the Os to operate correctly.
Anyway about csr racing i know nothing ).
I installed NBA 2k15 v1.0. I can feel everything is smooth with regards to menu transitions and the movements of the players and it loads fast. However, after 10-15 seconds on court during gameplay it force closes. I didnt enable anyhting like stamina mopde to reduce the phones performance and debloated the phone a little. Does anybody experience this? Can somebody make it through finishing a whole game?
hv u played it wifi 0ff? i'm able t0 play fr0m my z1c using custom rom,wifi off and 50% 0r ab0ve battery..i d0n't kn0w but maybe bel0w 50% the battery heats up easily..and i n0tice when the battery heats up the game f0rce cl0ses..

Now Playable
It is now playable after a software update. Loading time is fast. Im experiencing some minor hiccups and lags. It gets really hot and drains around 20% of my battery for 1 whole game of 6mins per quarter. I wish i have root and use GL tools to optimize or modify game performance.
I suggest to use greenify..its free in playst0re..i think y0u cn greenify even with0ut r00t in kitkat..i hv tried gl t00ls but n0 differences 0r maybe i jst d0nt kn0w h0w t0 use it..but i did evrythng in gl t00ls tut0rial and the only thing it differ are the jerseys..using gltools players are wearing black jersey n0 names n0 numbers.the performance is the same..
