hey folks, i was wondering if there was anything that can be done about the sound on our device (gt-p5113). Most Samsung phones has some kind of software-level sound enhancement that is baked into most roms, or flashable via cwm (or whatever recovery is being used). i was curious to know that was available for the tablets as well.
I am currently using the Noozxoide-eizo rewire app, and its helping, but its got nothing on my gs2 with the beats baked in along with that app...
If anyone knows if this even exists and can direct me where to find it, it would be most helpful.
thanks

Your in the wrong section, this is for GT-P75xx series (Galaxy Tab 10.1). Search Google using xda gt-p5113 and you should find your right section and people to answer your specific device question.
Sorry bout that...

No idea though about your question lol
Someone will get it sooner or later us cappy users have it through a i9000 kernel and from what I understand that isnt needed u could just change your build.prop to mimic that of the phones that are "ACCEPTED FOR USE"! I recall seeing a thread on this somewhere but im sure you know how to use the search function so good luck!

Nope... It's 2 parts. Stagefright AND an appropriate build.prop
Just curious as to what everyone uses to tether over wifi? I tried barnacle but my tablet won't find the network, barnacle works fine on my attic but not the S2. Any particular reason?

I just use whats already included in UnNamed (same as stock) for wifi/usb tethering.

Its honestly about how much data you end up using, if you go crazy and start using 50gb then they will want to switch you.
They give warnings before they do anything and they are starting to throttle people after a certain point.
You can try this for USB Tethering - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424676
He claims to found a way to hide it but they still know how much data you use.
Basically, don't use a desktop browser. It's one of the #1 ways to get the tether police on your ass. People are getting nastygrams after only using the "desktop useragent" feature of Dolphin HD 2-3 times.
Otherwise, native tethering (remove TetheringManager2.apk if on a stock ROM) works best. Only one that isn't adhoc.
OK. So I was in iHell for a few years and got pretty good with the file system/ jailbreaking. So I've since been paroled (from Jail-breaking :l ) and PRESTO!!! Im a noob again.
Im still debating on flashing but im gonna root for sure. I need to check my facts here. I can root via any mentioned method. I'll need to install titanium (?) to freeze that network check to use the native hotspots. (The name of that file escapes me but I can search it up later)
Anything else for now? Is busybox worth it?
On a semi-related note, I've not had multiple ROMs available to me. What's the benifit to other Roms? I mean what does CM have that stock doesn't? Is there a break down or spread sheet to compare capabilities?
This may sound goofy, but I can already do everything that I wanted my old iPhone to do on stock, but if flashing will bring more, cooler, and
as yet unimagined toys to my newly Android enriched life, I'm all about flashing. What say you XDA?
Sorry for the long post. Caffeine makes me type a lot.

Well follow the guide inn general about how to flash custom binaries, it'll help. Also, most rooms take care of the tetheringmanager2.apk sup you don't need to do anything else, it works out of the box. Make sure to use a mobile user agent while browsing, and you should be fine.
As a starting point, I suggest unnamed or icscrewed (both roms I've personally tried and that both are great)
The most common side effect of having a custom ROM is the desire to show it off, awesome battery life, good support and limitless customization. Just read before you do anything and you'll be golden.

You may have already seen this but if not, XDA member febcyv has managed to get google now working with ICS.
Link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749045
I have not tried this on my TF300 yet, but if anyone else has I would be eager to find out how you got on.
Good luck and enjoy
Just installed it, and everything wet smoothly. I have no idea what I am expecting now though, it appears to have just replaced the search bar. Nothing different seems to have happened so far.
Edit: I had to install the modified Velvet-theos0o.apk file in order to get it to work properly. Voice search isn't working but that seems to be a common issue.

if you search factual questions it should now bring up "knowledge cards" with your answer rather than a google search.
Also try holding home and dragging up, it may open "google now" which is supposed to act a bit like your PA and learn your routine
I'm also doing a bigger more widespread port of this over in the android development>apps and games section
We have both a flashable .zip and an .apk. It has a strong effort into getting voice to work. If you want check it out. Go ahead!

Is there any versions out for non-rooted devices? Don't feel too good rooting my new device, would lose the quarantee
Unlocking voids warranty, rooting doesn't.
It says that it requires a "A Rooted device running ICS AOSP Rom". I'm rooted but NOT unlocked and therefore NOT running a custom ROM.
This won't work for me. Right?

Im not 100% sure, but I would imagine that the stock ROM is close enough to AOSP for it to work.
I think it probably would work, but you may want to wait for someone else to confirm

I'm the head of one of the Google Now for ICS projects and you can probably install this normally. Just make sure not to delete your original "GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk" file. Just rename it and have it on hand to put back if anything goes wrong.

Hi guys
I've had a look around and understand that I'll need to edit the 'build prop' so that my device is recognised as another phone in order to have a more widespread choice of apps.
I want to install Need for Speed most wanted but the application cannot be found in the Play store and installing via the web based Play store is not allowed due to the app not being supported.
It makes me wonder how many other apps I could be missing out on!
Would anyone be able to recommend the changes to make as I don't want to make any mistakes and also how to go about making changes - I know this currently can't be done via a file explorer and probably has to be done via recovery.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Are you running custom or stock? And just throwing this out that I'm pretty sure NFS doesn't work on our phones. A review I watched showed that it just displays a black screen.

I am guessing that whether stock or rooted, by installing apps from unknown sources, you are betting (praying, might also help) that some nefarious developer out there is not smart enough to leave some "cool" bug on your device.
But I'm not positive by any means, either.
Don't know what OS you're running but both NFS run great on HD2 Ansar 8773 ROM (and in years of sideloading apps I've yet to encounter some mythical '"cool" bug' - even in WM6.5 but least of all in the protected WP7 OS..Android is a different story!)
