My ADB & Vibrant Story

Mods, if this belongs elsewhere, feel free to move it.
I read many many threads about people's problems with adb on the vibrant and while there were no individual threads that matched exactly, little pieces from many helped me in my situation; in case someone else experiences what I had, this is what I did to fix it.
Environment:
Win7 Professional N x64
Vibrant (SGH-T959:2.1-update1/ECLAIR/UVJI) (this was the leaked ROM mid Sept)
Samsung x64 drivers from TGA_Gunnman's thread (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929)
USB Debugging enabled
Problem:
I was able to get all the components of the phone recognized in device mgr & I was able to mount both the internal SD and my 8gb external SD cards, read & write to them with ease; I was even able to flash the leaked ROM via ODIN. I was NOT able to get adb to connect to my device.
C:\vibrant\adb devices
List of devices attached
T9596f3efa91 offline
I tried in recovery mode, no dice.
I had tried Droid Explorer, it was unable to find my device as well.
I had read somewhere that it was a driver problem, although dev mgr wasn't complaining and everything else appeared to be working just fine. One person noted they were able to use the Samsung Moment drivers from JuneFabric's website. I tried to install those drivers and was met with an error during the installation that said windows was unable to locate the file. Uninstalling, rebooting, reinstall (as many times as I had...) had no effect.
I grabbed USBDeview (thanks to masr1979's post in forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735534&highlight=masr1979) and uninstalled every android related driver. Rebooted and when prompted for the drivers, tried the moment drivers only to face the same "unable to locate file" error. I got fed up and tried going back to the drivers from TGA_Gunnman's thread which brought
me back to the start. Atleast I was able to mount my sd cards.
Solution:
Not satisifed with this, I went to Samsung's website and found drivers for XP/Vista... i can't for the life of me re-navigate to that download page, but I have uploaded the drivers here.
After running USBDeview to nuke everythign samsung/android related (again) and rebooting, I plugged my phone back in - pointed it to the extracted folder for the attached drivers, ignored the "unsigned drivers!" error for all three devices and re-tested DroidExplorer. SUCCESS! Droid Explorer found my phone and adb (console) also shows my device attached! Everything is golden.
Summary
Random-assed drivers found on Samsung's site for XP/Vista (attached) matched what my Vibrant wanted on Win7x64 in order to get data and debugging connectivity.
Thanks

The sdcard is the built-in 16gb storage.
In the guide you will see external sdcard too, that's the optional card
which is a removable one.
so just to clarify i don't need a SDcard to root if im following the guide that's stickied?

Looks like you are not using the Samsung Unified USB driver.
Try this one, this is what I use.
Here is the Samsung Unified USB driver: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13196871580881
Be sure to uninstall kies if it's installed and uninstall any other samsung usb driver,
then reboot windows before installing the unified samsung drivers.
Good Luck!

Do you have the newest KIES installed? I think I read in another thread where someone else experienced this same problem and it finally got corrected when they installed the newest version on their PC.

[Q] Nook Tablet rooting problems

I recently bought a Nook Tablet running software version 1.4.0, and tried to root it. I was using Indirect's method, and ran into a problem. When I downloaded the USB debugging app on the nook, I was unable to run it. I tried to install the drivers and to then run the app, but that didn't help, either. I don't know if the driver installer was done incorrectly, or if there is a problem with the USB debugging app, but I haven't been able to successfully root.
Is it that you can't install the USB debugging app? Not sure what you mean by "unable to run." Don't worry, we'll get you rooted in no time!
I downloaded the USB debugging app using the built in web browser on the Nook, and when I try to run the file, I get an error that says "Unable to install: This application was not able to install onto your device. Please "Archive" and then "Unarchive" the application to try again." The downloaded file does not appear in the downloads section of the file browser, and I'm not quite sure what it means by Archive.
Haven't had this issue. My biggest issue rooting on Ubuntu Oneiric was getting ADB to read my NT.

Hmm, check again to make sure you're still on software version number 1.4.0. If you are and can't get the TGPS Launcher app to install, you could use others methods to root. You'd have to use an SD card. Here are two methods:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488035
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439630
Solved.
I used the first SD Card method to successfully root cuttincow's tablet. It now works as a normal tablet, not locked down and restricted. I expect to see many more posts from cuttincows as he explores the depths of android and tries to install new ROMs. May we welcome him to the community with open arms!

T999 Connectivity to PC Issue [SOLVED]

I had a HARD time trying to get the GS3 to connect to my PC (like a lot of other peps)
Here is my solution:
Update the pc completely using Microsoft Updates.
Download the following:http://depositfiles.com/files/jfh66znxv
Un rar and copy the INF files (2) to your windows inf folder. I found that 1 of my original files (Microsoft installed) was actually the problem!
Install the Snapdragon Toolkit and install the Samsung driver using that software. (First option)
I already had done it via manual installs a number of times, but they never worked. This install using the toolkit worked.
(I only used it to install the Samsung Drivers)
Rebooted the PC and ran the toolkit again and saw the serial number in the ADB window, confirming a connection!
Rebooted the pc and connected the SG3 via the usb cable and it showed the files after a short moment!
All is Good!
Hope this helps someone make theirs work and alleviate all the aggrivation.
BTW:
There was not any problem with the Samsung software, It was the PC that had the problem!
I had that Samsung MTP error and the INF file installaion actually fixed that problem, so I included them in the file to download.
If this works for you, plz add a tag to this thread so that others will know this works.

[Q] Problem with adb

Hello guys
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Duos GT-s5302. I installed a ROM that has a bug for external storage (USB) and other bugs. I want to install another fine ROM. When i placed my external sd card in the phone, i entered the recovery mode and i do not find the option for update from external sd (i find only 4 options). When i placed the USB in the PC, i get "Please Insert a Disk into Drive E:" I tried some fix methods but nothing new
Can you do me a favor please ? I can't use my phone now
Thank you
Some changes are made
Hi !
I cherched for a solution and some people told me that adb is a good one. To resolute the problem i need to send a rom from PC to internal SD Card. So, i tried the push function and i got permission denied, i cherched over the forum i found that i need to activate the USB debugging in the phone (i can't do it because the ROM 'im using has a bug), run as Root (it told me that adbd can't run as root in builds production) and give permissions with "su" function (i got a text saying the permission is denied). Then i cherched again and i found that i need to run adb in recovery mode, but my Samsung Galaxy Pocket Duos GT-s5302 is listed on device only in boot mode.
Can anyone give me a solution please ?
Please Help
Thank's
