[Q] Will I still have touchwiz after rooting - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello!
So I need to root my phone and I looked at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207 thread. I would like to know if when I root the phone I will still have the Samsung touchwiz interface so I can use the S-pen and which sections need to be done to achieve that.

Yes, nothing will change.

No it will magically start running HTC's Sense 4.

Really don't need a smart ass answer. It's not like it's a common question just kind of a noobish question. No you won't lose any touch wiz functionality. If you flash a non tw ROM like cm10 or carbon then you will.

Honestly if he has to ask that question, he hasn't done enough reading and shouldn't be rooting at all.

Thanks, for the replies... I'm new to Android and I was just confused if the phone would be running the normal version of Android, like the Nexus 4, after rooting.

I would suggest doing a lot more background research and learning before rooting. Read through the threads and learn the terms (google is your friend). You will get a lot more out of have root access if you understand what it entails and you are far less likely to do something that messes up your phone. Rooted Android offers amazing capabilities, but requires a bit of input and knowledge from the user to really take advantage of it.

Then you aren't looking hard enough. There are plenty of AOSP GB roms, and plenty of roms just without Sense for GB.
Try the senseless script in the op here :

A) we must have posted at the same time so I didn't see your second post.
B) there are a minimum of 4 possible scripts here: the one he used, smokins script, the script I linked, and "THE" one you are referring to
C) if I am completely missing something; saying I have downs is an unnecessarily combative way to tell me. It's also immature and disrespectful. I have a cousin with downs. He's smarter than most of us in many ways.
Peace

I didn't call you stupid. You thinking that by asking if you had down syndrome was an insult made you insult your cousin.
Down Syndrome makes people have trouble understanding things. Not making them stupid. Your the one who thought I called you stupid. Therefore Your thought was the real insult to yourself.

I never understood why you would want to remove sense from a SENSE ROM.

I think this is a troll comment, but I'll bite. Everything in the Sense based ROMs, including 3d and Wimax, works while the AOSP ROMs still have bugs. So, if you want everything to work, you need a sense ROM. But, maybe you do not actually like the sense UI, hence the senseless ROM.
To destroy your analogy, it's like having two choices on the menu: Chicken sandwich or Cheesburger (both good). You want a plain hamburger with no cheese, but you have to order the cheeseburger and remove the cheese.
Just downgrade my 3VO, now using Cool ICS and desense it, since i prefer aosp look....
Thanks for your comments guys...

Yes you posted in the right place. And from what i have seen thus far the answer to your question is no. I pay more attention to the AOSP roms though so there very well may be.
Its really early to be asking that seeing as how everything for the S4 is just kicking off. if you really want to make sure go to the Verizon Note 2 Android Development forum and look at the TW roms changelogs and see if any of them have anything from the S4 in the changelogs. Last time I looked there wasnt anything but that may have changed.

Rom Toolbox Apps2SD

just redownloaded this app and saw the apps2sd option that lets you choose the install location for applications.
does it really let you install and run apps off the external sd?
if so, this is better than an sd swap, no? that only let's you keep app data on the external right?

No dice puts them on internal SD
A shame. Well I hope that update Sammy is pushing to S4's to allow them to truly install apps to the external is included in our 4.2 update.

Even if it's not included there is a possibility that it could be ported to the Note 2. In hoping that it's included though!

Hope so even though all the devs say getting phone specific features to another device is a time-consuming b1tch, even stuff that's like TW to TW.

Oh it is, there are still quite a few devs who have ported equally time consuming stuff to our phones so I have hope if we don't officially get it they'll bring it to us.
We have some of the best devs around, I may be biased but all our devs are excellent and amazing to me.

Hell yes we do! And the more the merrier! I saw someone in the Goodness ROM post in General being a **** and saying that we already had enough ROMs and didn't need any more..... I just don't understand that mentality. On the S3 there were more ROMs, albeit most were more buggy than the ones on the Note 2, and I am just shocked that someone in XDA would say what we have on the Note 2 currently is too many and wet don't need any more...... Even though we don't have the quantity of ROMs the S3 or Nexus has it's made up for by the quality of the ROMs we do have!

Though it would be nice to have this feature natively, I have found great satisfaction using Folder Mount for all my apps to external SD needs.
I used to use apps2sd but i didn't find it very useful.

android 4.3

so how long do you guys think we will have to wait until we get a rom with android 4.3?

I find that to be highly unlikely. There is going to be a ****load of optimization that will go into updating everything to 4.3 for our phones, while I know the AOSP Devs are fast as hell I don't think even they are that fast.
If you mean stock 4.3...... Well it could be a year before we see anything.

sbrissen posted a pic running 4.3.
While it's not released yet, and it AOSP, it does seem like it will be released VERY soon.

You know what's going to be annoying?

People taking the 4.3 update and then complaining about not being able to flash ROMs or having SS working.

Sort of agree, yet the title of this OP could have been a bit more informative to the point of something like:
Take 4.3, lose rooting and safestrap capabilities at this time.
Just my .02 c
There is at least one thread already for discussion..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2502597
