I saw a blog post on the cm site that explained why this change was made.
You can no longer reboot to recovery from the lock screen regardless of the advanced reboot settings. This prevents an unauthorized person from getting into recovery without first unlocking the device.

forgot the passcode :S

hello all,
i imported a phone from UK and the person i bought it from was dump enough to put a pattern lock on the phone, i tried contacting him but he is very stupid to answer the call. Is there any way through which i can hard reset the phone or do anything to get over the passcode?
i don't have the guys email id and password due to obvious reasons.
You could go into recovery mode and wipe data/cache basically factory resetting the phone.
Get into recovery by powering off the phone and pressing the following volume down+home+power.

Try flashing a stock Rom with Odin.
Have a look for the guides in these forums.

Wouldn't help as settings and setup don't get changed so pattern security would still be intact.

I went into the recovery by holding volume up+home button+power key and wiped data, now everything is good

Well I gave him the benefit of the doubt plus if it is stolen they'll just report it stolen and the imei will be blocked and then it's a fancy paper weight.

It's hard for someone who doesn't know how to get around a pattern lock
mikep99 didn't help a burglar, because everything he said could be found if the OP had spent 5 minutes searching the forums. The answer for everything is here already. Sometimes one needs to add 1 + 1, but the answer is there.

Help with crazy photon, dials out on its own, opens and closes apps, no speaker

I have this 2.3.5 motorola photon, it looks functional, except that the earpiece is not working, easey fix I told to my self...but after replacing it for a working one nothing changed, and I started noticing that the phone act all crazy, calls out the last number when you are actually trying to dial out, opens and closes apps continusly, etc, I did a factory reset and a hard factory reset but nothing changed, I tried also doing RSD flash to have a fresh version of the OS but obviously that did not work, can someone help me please?
Phone is probably defective you should get it checked out or get a replacement from motorola

Hello, just finished doing all you told me, but still having the same issue, all is working as far as I can tell, but it keeps dialing the last number when trying to dial a new one using the numeric key pad, you press two numbers and it actually makes a call to the last one dialed...any more options?
Could be a sensor problem but idk I've never experienced that problem

I think it may be software related, I downloaded a couple of dialing apps, most gaved me the same issue, but one, did not so I assume its soft...
You could uninstall a few and see

Basically I rooted it, flashed cwm and then when I tried to flash a rom, the installation failed so I just decided to reboot the phone. It was at that point that it just wouldn't turn back on, not even into recovery. I did get a new one though

No thread for i527 why?

I am very sure it has been brought up in the i527's infancy, but it is now 3 or 4 months old. So why is it there is no forum designated specifically for the i527?

I appreciate it but AT&T is different and there is a bootloader issue. But it is the sifting through all the other versions of this device that makes it difficult. If you ask me, it is also inviting the person who is categorized as the newbie to flash incompatible files and brick their devices. I know better, but it is still possible. Who is to say someone labels something wrong. All it takes is one to blurt out, "hey, this will work on Joe Blows phone", and its all over.

For sure just after I posted here I noticed the talk about boot loader.....theres too many different damn models of the same phone its brutal there should be just one model of each phone and be done with it no confusion no compatability issues or anything but I guess that would make it too easy for us lol

I think the i527 got root, right?
You could try to install the the recovery image with terminal commands
su
dd if=<path to recovery img> of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
reboot recovery
if everything worked well, flash cm
