Today my friend found this strange bug. He has STOCK ROM (no root, 4.1.2 JZO54K.I9300XXELLA) and kernel. So I tested on my own SGS3 with Omega v43.1 (XXEMB5 - JB 4.1.2) and the result was the same. I made 4 pics with these steps:
1) Turn on the camera application and make new photo => correct resolution and the size
2) after this switch to video mode and then back to the photo mode and snap a photo => false resolution (always 1280x720)
3) then I switch to video mode again and shut down the application in video mode ... after that turn on application (it will be in video mode) and again switch to photo mode and make new photo => false resolution (always 1280x720)
4) then shut down the application and relaunched it and make a photo => correct resolution and the size
So this bug happens whenever you change PHOTO & VIDEO mode and also when the application starts in VIDEO mode and then you swap in to PHOTO mode. But all this happens only when Video Stabilization is TURN ON ! If it's turn off everythig is fine.
Any solution ????

Contact Samsung or search the problem .
jje
Just contacted Samsung. They said - we have this tested without problem. I think that they tested on wrong way. Because I think, that all SGS3 must have this problem. I know about 3 phones with this problem. Samsung recommended factory reset, then visit in official servis room. I'll visit the servis room, and showroom too, to test SGS3 in showroom. I will post later result.

hey guys im hoping you will have some insight to my problem. well i just got the galaxy s ii and its great but i have a problem with the camera. When i open the camera it does not autofocus even though it is on that setting..if i focus on something it remains blurry and if i hold down the shutter key it just comes up with the red box..now strangely enough, if i switch the cam to Video mode it will focus and if i then switch it back to camera mode it WILL focus..so nothing is wrong with the cam but its the software..i tried doing the camera reset and still have the problem..any insight?
checked the focus mode? also in which firmware ur in currently?

Try another camera app, if the problem still persists update your firmware via kies, if it doesnt fix then head to samsung service center
On SGS II there are a lot of different types of camera. I'm talking about the hardware. Make a little google about it. As far as I know, the "OC" type of camera is the worst. Type: *#34971539# and in the menu that will appear check here "Phone/Cam Fw version".
I received my Titan device recently and since then the device's camera is not working properly.
When I got the phone the camera was acting superb and I tested it by taking a few shots and a movie roll (all max quality). After the phone did a reboot over night due to drained battery the camera app began to show a black screen instead of a preview and hang up or crash when pressing the shoot button.
I called up the HTC support center in my country and was told that this is a common and known issue with Windows phones and is caused by 3rd party apps using the window's camera API. I got instructed to do a factory resetand afterwards, the camera did work properly, but again for a few shots (obviously after ending the phone call with them ).
So I decided to investigate the matter.
On my phone were installed the 'Skype','Whatsapp' and 'Mykebo free' apps before the reset, none of which seem to have a connection to the camera API (I didn't use Skype's video feature). This made my suspect the HTC's camera control software that maybe interferes somehow with the camera.
I began resetting my device and checking when the camera starts to fail.
Doing a couple of resets I saw that the camera started to fail after connecting the phone to the PC and disconnecting it while the camera app was working (the app itself does not run but shows the Zune 'disconnect to view media' screen). But on the last reset the camera didnt even start.
I am really confused since it doesnt seem to be a hardware issue (the photos were taken perfectly) but neither a camera API malfunction since the phone is used widely and even a best photo competition exists on this forum.
I want to avoid using my warrenty since it includes sending the phone abroad and is a bit costly for me..
Any ideas on what to do next? could it be that the ROM flushed in the phone is corrupt in any way?

Flash its with your device OEM .nbh .... If you haven't done that then maybe something is wrong with an API etc so flashing it might solve the problem.

I will try this out now.
I noticed that on the factory reset menu there is an option to show the OS CRC.
I recieved the values:
BL CRC-0x439025DD
OS CRC-0x6A9EA866
are this OK? the phone is fully patched.

Hi all,
I bought the Poco f1 yesterday and my rear camera portrait mode is not working. In normal mode it is working but when i switch to Portrait mode it gives me an error - Camera can't connect and the app crashes.
I have updated my device to the latest miui(10.2.)still the problem persists.
Can anyone please let me know what should I do to getting working. Any help is hugely appreciated.
Things I have tried -
1. Clear cached and data of camera.
2. Factory reset the phone.
3. Force stop and then on.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Hardware issue maybe

Got that warranty fam? Use it or maybe you have that 7 days replacement policy. It might have hardware issues or software issues, check it on your nearest trusted Xiaomi service center
Hello,
Today reverse camera stopped working on my MTCC device (see attached pics).
When I put the car in reverse I get a green screen before the device boot up, and yellow sign after boot up.
Checked camera and cables on an external monitor, all fine. Must be something wrong with the device.
All other functions are fine.
Anyone had a similar issue? Suggestions before removing the device to check back connectors?
Thank you.
EDIT: This morning picture appeared for a few seconds, after that it just showed for a split of a second and then yellow sign. Later it does not show at all again.
EDIT2: removed the unit and checked connectors, no help. Tried second video input with the second camera and this other video input does not work also.
It seems that external video input is disabled and I can't find the way to activate it. sometimes reverse camera image appears for a split of the second so it makes me wonder that there is some sort of "lock" for video input.
Playing videos from sd card with video app works fine.
Installed different ROM and issue is still there.
Hello,
what is your car model and how/where is connected your rear cam to 12+ and ground? Back Light?
I would say your HU is defective likely a bad solder joint on the video mixer/switch if both inputs behave the same. If it starts working again when the temperature changes that is the sign.
Yeah, it must be a bad solder joint. I'll try to disassemble it one day and check soldering but for now, I just bought an additional small display for the camera, works ok but takes little more space

I had a similar problem, the following solved it for me.
Go to SYSTEM settings, on my unit there was a menu item marked "Protocol Parameter settings" select this and you should see lots of settings relating to reverse camera, sensor and associated CANBUS options. Look for an option like "Reverse video resolution setting" and choose NTSC/PAL. After I changed that, all my video in started working again properly.
Hope this helps!
