I''m running 10.4.2.18 JB. I'm a bit confused as to which method to use. I was rooted with vipermod back when I was still using ICS, but had to remove root in order to upgrade to JB.
Only way is bootloader unlock method afaik

I am waiting for a method where it doesn't require to unlocking the bootloader in order to root it. It's in the stickies...

The new updates from SE really improved the phone and wouldn't want those bugs to come back again so that's why I wait to root.
Hoping a dev makes work of it
You can use gingerbreak. But it's easier to unlock it, you have more possibilities in phone modding, and it's relockable
you can root 2.3.3 with gingerbreak without having to flashback?
root your play with no locking bootloader
you won't have update .146 though I just did it and works flawlessly
basicly you downgrade root and ota update to 2.3.3 (.145)

i wanna root my play with locked bootloader
can i use gingerbreak?
I imagine this has been posted, but I can't seem to find it when using search on the main forum.
I just received my GB View today and rooted it via Revolutionary. My question is, can I just go ahead and update to HC or will it break root?
Question 2 is: Can I OTA or do I need to install it through CWM if so?
Thank you in advance to anyone who replies.
Don't ever install an OTA on any rooted Android device. You will lose root or get stuck in a bootloop.
Use globatron's method.

This on behalf of a coworker, who's developing an app for the TF201.
He accidentally did an OTA upgrade to JB. Unfortunately, the client's acceptance testing is only for ICS (please don't ask, and please don't say the app should be made to work with JB), and he needs to downgrade the Transformer back to ICS.
The device has not been unlocked and has not been rooted. It was stock ICS before the upgrade and is currently stock JB.
I don't have much experience with the Transformer, though I've mucked around with alternative ROMs for my B&N Nook Color and my Galaxy S.
Do we need to do the following?
1. Unlock the bootloader (using the V6 unlock tool from Asus, even though it's labeled as being for ICS)
2. Install ClockworkMod
3. Use CWM to install the ICS binary images that we get from Asus
On one of the threads discussing a JB to ICS downgrade, someone noted that there's no way to revert the JB bootloader to the ICS one. If that's the case, what are the implications of that?
Thanks.

Unless you did the nvflash process before going up to Jellybean (which you haven't because you are not even unlocked) then you cannot go back to ICS. Do not even attempt it you will brick the tablet.
I'm on I605VRALL4, rooted (via CASUAL). I want to get off Android 4.1.1 because of Heartbleed but I want to stay rooted and I'd prefer to keep an unlocked bootloader. What's the highest level of stock Android that I can get to from where I'm at and still have root and an unlocked bootloader?
I have a Sony Xperia M2 on Vodafone UK which I want to root.
I've looked around and many people are saying use TowelRoot, downgrade to JB, find the right TFT etc. and I'm getting really confused, especially since my bootloader is unlocked.
The method which seems to work with people is to flash JB and then use an exploit to root the phone. Since the I cant unlock the BL, I dont know how to flash JB onto this phone.
Also if i root this phone, am i still able install CyanogenMod or use root apps such as Xposed Framework?
How can I downgrade the phone and root it?
Thanks In advance!

I did it
I just did it with KingRoot, without experiencing any problem, and no downgrade was necessary. The device was not listed as compatible, but it finally did it !
I hope this will help.
