Not sure if you can downgrade the HBOOT but I dont see why you would need to. If it is because you need root follow these guides. Even if you already have a working goldcard make it again mine was working for other phones but wouldnt work for this.
Part 1
Part 2
Once you have finished them you should have HBOOT 1.01 with Android 2.1 full root with clockworkmod so you can flash any rom you would like.
thanks a lot
I get the way to root,I only want to know how to downgrade the HBOOT
English is not my mother tongue,so my English is not so good
pardon
For now no way to downgrade HBOOT 1.01 to HBOOT 1.00 or 0.43 .....
We wait for a solution ....

AlphaRev has made S-OFF for our legends here.

But this is only possible with hboot 0.43
We will wait...
S-OFF is only really useful for real devs, not leaches like the rest of us.

Seems you don't need to sign zips for flashing with ROM Manager. Works for me anyway.
I don't have much need for S-OFF myself -- the only thing I can think of is that it should let adfree android work right after flashing CM. Saves me the extra reboot to flash my symlink-etc-hosts.zip..

Yeah, I know, I know. It's just me being lazy end letting ROM Manager do everything for me. Download through ROM Manager and then flash both zips from recovery might be the most convenient.
(..or just S-OFF, which I plan to do when I get back from vacation )
waiting and waiting. We should be pacient.
I don't even own a Legend, but I've lurked around the Desire, Desire Z and G2 forums - and I own a Nexus One.
I've noticed that procedures for downgrading the HBOOT on these devices seem to involve making a modification to the misc partition, which then fools the phone into accepting a RUU/PASSIMG/etc that downgrades HBOOT.
I see here a procedure that downgrades from the Froyo OTA using a similar idea:
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-legend-legend-modaco-com/323201/downgrading-from-froyo-ota/
But the resulting HBOOT is still 1.001.
Could this method be adapted to accept a RUU that will roll back the HBOOT even further?
Nope. Current HBOOT (1.x) does not allow to fool itself and this is the main problem. You may play with misc and downgrade rom, but HBOOT remains the same. The only 0.43 version of HBOOT allows downgrading.
I had my phone flashed to MetroPCS and the guy updated my hboot to 1.5 I saw a thread a couple months back about being able to downboot my hboot from 1.5 to 1.4 with S-off but a search didn't help me find anything. Anyone know the steps/point me in the right direction?

I've answered this a few times on this board regarding the CDMA version of the EVO 3D. I'll quote from my previous posts as I don't think anything has changed. Please post back if you still have questions!

2nd time around: shift didn't have the nand write lock on the misc partition, hence being able to temp root and flash a lower version to the misc partition then hboot would allow a downgraded version of software to be loaded.
esseentially it seems as if htc was doing the bare minimum to protect the shift from being unlocked/rooted as all these methods were known and some were used on the HTC EVO prior to the shift software releases.
this has been covered a few times on the forums, but i hope rehashing old ideas/attempts might spark new ones! sometimes it only takes a slight tweak to an old method for it to bypass a patch and work! hope that helps!

If your hboot was soff before he upgraded, then it would still be soff, so if you're on hboot 1.5 with s off, then you can downgrade. If you're s on, then you're stuck.

Yes my S-Off flag is still showing in the Bootloader
I know downgrading from 1.5 with S-on is currently impossible but I know it can be done with S-off
Should've clarified I guess
Edit: yes it is CDMA

If the WiFi checkbox is greyed-out or... says "wifi error"; Your going to have to run a cwm recovery (if you can)... Or, you'll have to re-flash the rom. If you still get a "wifi error" status with a re-flash, you'll have retrace your steps... or use Globatron's downgrade and start over.

Looks like you are missing the needed matching boot.IMG .
Best to revert back to GB with the appropriate RUU for your device. Then you have to follow carefully the upgrade to S-OFF HC , you should use Globaltrons thread for both the revert to GB and the upgrade to S-OFF HC.
Probably start here.

i will try to downgrade thanks
I keeping getting a bootloop on all ics roms and I tried a kernal that someone recommend but it kills my 3d and i get random reboots . Is there any way to fix this problem and install the ROM with everything working. I'm on hb 1.50 . S- on . Or is there a way to downgrade to hb 1.40 but i don't have a Linux . What's the easiest way ?

You can always try 4EXT Recovery with smartflash on. It works for both S-On and S-Off

try a superwipe. that fixed mine. Look in the dev forum for it (i think you can find it in the mean rom thread)
You could also downgrade using the instructions in the development thread. Ir doesnt require Linux, it includes a downloadable bootable CD. ITA damn near an automated process minus the brick part. And +1 for 4ext recovery it has features built just for S-on.
My other shooter is an FNAR .308
I already tired a super wipe and my netboot doesn't have a cd drive .

Well what kernel did you use, you could be flashing the wrong one. The other option is to downgrade HBOOT ,, no linux required

I got my ICS ROM to work by flashing RLS1
I doubt downgrading HBOOT will help, he's getting it to work with Chad's kernel. I'm exhibiting the exact same issue with bootloops with the stock kernel(in my case I used the shooter ice kernel to get it to boot) and I'm S-OFF/GSM so I'm pretty sure the issue isn't HBOOT related.
Same here
I have the same issue. I use 4ext with smartflash for recovery. I'm able to flash any GB rom I want, but when I try an ICS rom with a stock kernel I get the boot looping. Is there any other way to make this work? I don't want to dig into the brick/unbrick business if I can help it. I have also tried using Flash Img GUI and fastboot/adb to flash the kernel with the exact same results. Any information on this would help, but a solution would be fantastic!
._. I see what's going on... It's GSM users trying to flash CDMA kernels once again.

+1 to this. The stock Ics kernel does not do well with 1.5 s-on. Since you cannot downgrade to 1.4 s-off, you should try the new 1.5 s-off method. Otherwise you have to use a custom kernel which is not 100% yet.

The hboot downgrade seems a lot less scary for sure. In all honesty it was ez and took me less than 30 mins but to each his own
I was with blackberry for 7 years and recently made the switch to the HTC Evo 3D (gsm). While I love it, the email has been subpar although mostly due to godaddy sucking
I want to upgrade to ICS, but it seems so overwhelming compared to blackberry which i knew like the back of my hand and Im scared i'll brick it.
1) what is the most stable build of ICS for my evo, and
2) does anyone have a link to a good tutorial to flash/upgrade, I want to learn it well
Thank you I appreciate it greatly!!

Afaik, ics still a leak version but so bugless, maybe you'll dind a minor unnecessary bug when using it.. Just in case you find a bug share it to the dev..
Before you're talking about ics for further more, you need to root your devices first in order to gain control of your phone:
1. Unlock your bootloader using htc method
2. And follow the guidance in this link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17250151
After this 2 step, if you wanna still to gain a permanent root in order to upgrade your baseband, radio, firmware etc, you need to s-off your evo, check this link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23379702
Careful for the last one, read it carefully or you gonna brick it...
Hope it helps..

Thanks for the help guys. This is what my phone says currently when I hold down PWR+VOL DOWN:
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.49.0008
i was using this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535987
but ran into so many errors. For example, heres a few steps:
2. Unlock your device the htcdev way. Visit http://www.htcdev.com and follow the instructions.
You can take a preview of all the steps in attached zip below.
3. Read this post by flashmaniac, http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...88&postcount=1
4. Read this post by happyhallsy8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...58&postcount=1
5. Uninstall the HTC sync application from your computer.
---
well I unlocked it using step 2 no issues, it seems 3 and 4 are irrelevant? But its not really worded or explained well. Is step 5 necessary too?
Now here's where I ran into real problems. I then proceeded to the next steps installing the clockwork mod which worked, i go thru the prompts etc to load the Zips to my SDcard, i then try to install from zip, error, i try to install custom rom from zip, error. I cannot proceed any further.
HELP!
do u need hboot 1.49.0007 for this or what?
mate its because you are still s-on. There's an app called flash image GUI which is what you need, flashing rooms from clockwork mod can only be done with s-off, I successfully gained s-off on my GSM evo with the 1.49 hboot using Revolutionary, its up to you whether you try for s-off or flash roms using the s-on method. Hope that helps.
