I went from stock S2 rom to MIUI and so far loving it. However, and this is just a query really, the other night I downloaded GTA 3 from the market.
Now, on MIUI when I browse the market, its not there. Going on the website, it states "This app is incompatible with all of your devices." Well, yes it is.
I know I can prob download it elsewhere, but I paid for this.
Is this cos of the MIUI rom confusing google?
Also, as a bonus question, how can I get a list of all the apps I installed recently.
When I check googles market website, it lists only 3, and I've downloaded like 30.
GTA III will show not compatible with Galaxy S2, no matter what rom you used.
You can download the apk from others. I downloaded it and haven't got any problem so far (Just sometimes the game is force closed.)
For the installed app, I think it will show only the paid one. Mine doesn't show the free app in the previous installed. (Not Sure bout this)
EDIT : Clarify my word a bit
It runs....saw it on drippler

The thing was I downloaded this from the market in the first place. It must of been compatible to let me download it? Because on this market its gone. It like they pulled it.

I think something is wrong, tried to download the natwest app and that's also missing from the market. This MUIU seems to be causing issues which is annoying because I love using it. Any ideas?

I don't think problem is with your Rom. I am using lightening Rom and I have the same problem with some apps I downloaded from market. Maybe its because the newer versions of those apps miss something to be compatible with galaxy S2 or maybe its a market glitch.

Its odd. They dont show up on my phone by going to the market on my pc just says it's not compatible. I guess the only way ill know is going back to my rom backup and see if it works.

Some apps are just not compatible with your phone ( GTAIII is an example, the developers haven't optimized it for SGSII ). You can still download any of those .apks elsewhere, and install them , chances are they won't work ( GTAIII does in fact work , if not by default , then by using chainfire3D). It's not, i repeat, it's NOT a bug in the market , or a bug in the ROM.
Edit: Solved it.

And suddenly I can't update Go SMS Pro (v4.33) in my Black i9100 (suddenly says incompatible) while it's normal on my fiance's White i9100.
Both international version, same ROM same installed programs inside, configuration, and version.
This once happeneded to me, maybe your DPI is not compatible with market giving you the error. If its changed return it to the value of 240
Nah, I never mess with DPI settings. Its suddenly like that.
Yesterday I can see it in the market and when it requested to update I just decline it because I wasn't in wifi area and decided to update it today but it now says incompatible. Weird...
While in my fiance's i9100 it downloaded perfectly.
And the build prop is stock. Also here's my config:
XWKL1 stock odexed ROM & Siyah v.12 kernel.
Here's my build.prop: http://pastebin.de/23354

I'm using a couple ICS+sense roms that are giving me some issues with the Market. A bunch of apps aren't showing up including some that I paid for. It prob has something to do w/ me going from GB to ICS 4.0.1 aka CleanRom 2.1. Anyways, before I flashed these roms I was able to see all these apps in the Market that I can't now. Can someone explain how I can trick the Market into showing every app whether they're compatible with GB/ICS or not? If I have to pull my Market.apk and edit it, let me know how to do that or if there is a Market.apk out there that I can install over the current one I already have. If there's a way for me to keep that most updated market(3.4.4) that'd be great.
Thx for the help! -bal

I know, it sucks. Essentially I think you have to edit your build.prop. It'll be a pain to get it to work. If you can find someone that knows how to correctly edit the build.prop, I think you can get those apps. The best thing to do would be to contact the app developers and ask when they'll make their apps compatible with ICS.
I've never used it but it sounds like maybe the "Market Enabler" app might work. It's at keast worth checking out

I swear I saw a market app that's currently in a Rezound rom here that shows all apps. I forget the rom though. With the build prob don't I just edit it to make it think my phone is on GB? Gotta be an easy way to do this.

1. Flash a 2.3 rom
2. Use root file explorer >>go to data/app folder and copy app to SD card
3.reinstall 4.0 rom and reinstall app
Editing build prop is more trouble and time than its worth.
Copy and reinstall is faster and the apps will still function...paid apps will require the install key probably...

Why do I need to flash a Rom, can't I just download a Rom, open the zip with 7zip and extract the market.apk from system/app? I thought the market apk was in system/app?
Oh and could you name a Rom I could download to get the apk I need. Also, what is the name of the market.apk? How do I remove the market from the ICS Rom and install the GB market over it so I don't have two markets installed and in my launcher?
One last thing, what do you mean paid apps will require a licencse?

Nope, not market.apk. You'll want to look in /data/app for the specific apps that are missing. /data/app is the location of all your apks downloaded from the market.
The reason we don't need to simply copy the market.apk is because your market app is working just fine. Google's servers filter based on device and rom according to the build.prop file. Because there's no official ICS rezound it doesn't know what to show you yet. Once it gets closer to release google will add the profile for ICS and everything will show properly.

Sure there is. Extract build.prop from a ROM, and swap it out just like you said. I don't know if it's going to net you the desired result, but why not give it a shot.

If you go the flashing back to GB method I recommend grabbing AppMonster to back up all your apps. I've been using the pro version and it's pretty cool. Now I have access to all the apps I've downloaded in the past but don't have to install them until I need/want to. It also automatically backs up apps as soon as you've downloaded them. Super easy to restore too.

DO NOT DO THIS! The reason that some of the apps are not showing up in the market is because they have not been updated to say that they work with 4.0.1. If you swap build.props you could seriously harm your device, I STRONGLY advise against it.
I just went to the market website on my computer and looked under my apps, then just installed all the ones I wanted to from there. It was a little hassle, but really only took around 10 min for about 30-40 apps I wanted.

in your opinion does it do any better/different than TB?
I've been looking into editing the build.prop file. I am hesitant to do so because all the other examples I've seen are from similar devices so very few lines are actually changing. I noticed the rezound has a crapload of lines, i'm not sure how many would be required to actually get an app showing.
Does anyone know what specific lines the Market app looks at to verify?
My problem is not that I'm trying to get an app on ICS but that I want Plants and Zombies. I understand it works on other GB's but not the rezound. Any more insight on the build.prop file would be awesome!

Well, updated to CleanRom ICS edition v2.3 and tried my build.prop and my Rez wouldn't even boot... Booo!!!! So back to the drawing bored I went. Happy to say I now have a build.prop that is up and running. Issue here is not that I can't download games from the market. That's easy. Issue is, once downloaded, they won't download additional data. **shakes fist at gameloft**
So here it is, as always: I'm not responsible for any damages done to your phone by use of this file, etc..... Remember to nandroid backup!!!!
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED TO WORK ON CLEANROM ICS 2.3
How to Use:
Open file browser of choice and go to /system/
Rename build.prop to something like build.prop.bak
Download the file and unrar it
Move the file to /system/
Rename to build.prop
Reboot
When you need to switch back, just rename the modded build.prop to something like build.prop.mod and rename build.prop.bak to build.prop and reboot.

I was wondering if anyone knows the save location for final fantasy III? I have a saved game on my tablet and would love to be able to put it on my phone for when I don't have my tablet handy! Any help would be appreciated!
I don't have that game but based on common knowledge and the apps id in the play store start looking in

He is not talking about /sdcard/Android/data/ folder he is talking about /data/data/ folder which is accessible from root. It is there I just checked myself.
The obb folder is the file downloads when you first buy the game. It has the pictures and music and everything. That folder is on the sdcard, the folder you are looking for is not on the sdcard, but on the phone's internal memory. You will see folders for all of the game/apps you have there.

Thanks for your guys help with this. I Just ended up flashing to the ODJDub's ROM. Everything is showing back in the play store. I am not sure as to what happened. Maybe a glitch in the Matrix lol. I did clear the caches and even went as far as installing an old market.apk. But Flashing to the new ROM seemed to fix it. It was not that I wanted the app from the store so much as to finding out that I was being restricted from the apps themselves. I do understand that the app store is device/carrier specific. But it shoild not have made a difference from a stock TB to a rooted TB. That was more the point I was psuhing. I did not nor do I ever like having the restriction placed againt my device. Is that not the reason why we aquire S-off?
I'm certain there was something in your build.prop that IDs your phone to the Market that was blocking this. Knowing your phone is rooted or not, I don't believe, can be checked beforehand. Now, once the app starts installing, it could check. Another scenario that I'm 100% certain of is when the app tries to run for the first time, it can check for root access and at that point, it can run or not run (and warn the user).
The Market can be finicky. My wife's phone runs Skyraider Zeus on her Thunderbolt and has for many, many months. Last week, apps that she has ran in the past now don't appear in the Market. Rest assured, she changed NOTHING in her build.prop file. I login on the PC and she has (2) phones listed, one is "HTC Thunderbolt" and the other is "ADR6400L". The ADR6400L is what the Market thinks is current and apps aren't compatible with that phone because they effectively don't know what it is...
I had issues with the market running skyraider and ikream. Themed markets will cause incompatibility problems sometimes. Maybe try getting LCD density modder pro and use their modded market.

Having the same issue here. I extracted the data file for the simpsons game. I restored it into the right folder after I reinstalled the game but after going out of the game it seems to delete all the saved data I just placed there manually. Someone else suggested using TiBu which I just used but I'm not sure it will work.
I tried everything I could think of to get it to work, but it's obviously syncing with a server somewhere, but with no way to log in, it's pointless.

I wonder if the problem has to do with the Google account association of the phone. You know how when you flash roms a lot of times to Google it is if it is now a different device and you lose your Google apps library (well, you have it, but according to Google it is off on a different device.) I really wish Google would let you merge device profiles in the app store.

Hi guys,
Glad to see someone else is trying to do the same sort of thing as me. I've got a completely stock Nexus 7 (that I don't want to go down the rooting option just yet as it's a shared tablet with the gf) and I'm quite far into Tapped Out but I installed it originally from the leaked APK prior to it hitting the UK play store. I've since googled for the updated APK's as and when needed but now all I want to do is uninstall the "wrong" APK and install the one from the market without losing my progress. (It would also be extremely nice if I could find a way to sync the progress between my Nexus and my S3 but I think that's just a pipedream for now).
Anyone got any clues on how to do it on a stock device?
Well for anyone having a similar issue, have a look into Carbon on the play store from the makers of ClockWork Mod. Backs up apps without needing root. Very good little app.
