Hi guys,
I'm looking for an app or a mod that does these two things:
1) after that my notification sounds is played (ie. bacause a message has arrived) i don't want to hear other notifications for the following 30s (obviously the time period can be changed)
2) when my screen is on i don't want to hear sounds of any notification but I want only to see the icon in the notification bar.
Do you know something that can do these two things or only one of them?
Thank you

Slimrom (not sure about others since i didn't use them) does what you want for the 1st one. "Settings, Interface, Sound, Less frequent notification sounds" is just that. And allows you to set up a period of time where the phone doesn't play any sound after recieving a notification.
As for the second one, not sure. Maybe tasker can do it, it's very flexible.
Thank you!! tasker works very well!!
I managed to create both the features that i need! But i won't use the first because of the bug "folder open/closed" and the bug with the stock swype keyboard related to the accessibility!

I'm using CM9 and during a call, there are no options to mute, hang up, hold, or anything else in notification tray. This is the one thing I loved about the Samsung variant of Android. Do I simply need to install a dialer app from Google Play to get this functionality, or is there a feature in CM9 to enable this?
Can anyone help me get this functionality? Thanks in advance.
What would be the point all those buttons are on the in call screen in ICS?

If you are multitasking outside of the phone app while in speaker phone, isn't it pretty quick to pull down the notification tray and click the phone so the phone app opens (which has all the options), then just switch back to what you were doing? Doesn't even take 5 seconds to go from browser to phone, back to browser...
Although it would be a nice feature, it is not a necessary one.

Yes!
i have been looking for this. i don't want my notifications to appear on the screen, but i want to get a vibrate notification, or a sound notification for my notifications for fb messenger, and textfree. i have used tasker for this, and all that i could do was make the status bar expand whenever i unlock my screen. it did not automatically clear it, so it wasn't helpful. i need this!
I have found a way to do this. you have to go to settings -> applications -> and choose the app. from there, uncheck the box for notifications, and you are good to go.

Yep, that's only possible on JellyBean. On other Android versions there isn't way to do it, and I think Google will not add it (because JellyBean already have it, so there is no reason to add it to older versions).

Hi.
I've had two HTC devices before the DNA, so I am a little frustrated that HTC decided to link the ringtone and notification sound control. I want to turn off notification sounds. Does anyone know if that's possible? I tried downloading some volume control apps, and it appears that HTC has disabled, or overridden, the ability to control the ringtone and notification volumes separate.
The decision to tie the ringtone and notification volumes together is bugging me after just one day with the device.
Thanks!
I answered this for you on the General section. Why post in two places on same forum.

Thank you. I didn't want to post twice. I had a problem deleting the post in other thread.
Does anyone know if the One has the option to see a preview of an email message in the notification pull down menu? I just bought this phone today and have not been able to find this setting? I thought it was a standard Jelly Bean option, but I could be mistaken.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

I think you could just the 4.2.2 gmail apk and should work
Do you mean like this? I just sent myself a message. and that's how it looks in my notification bar. I do know that if it's a single line like WiFi TetherMod is, you drag it down using 2 fingers. So You'd drag WiFi Tether Mod down using 2 fingers and it would expand. (If the notification is capable)
EDIT: BTW, I'm using the stock Gmail app that comes out the market.

Does it look like this normally? If so, try dragging it with 2 fingers. I'm on Renovate. I don't think a ROM can add this feature. This feature is a JellyBean feature. I've had this feature on my Epic 4G Touch (GS2), as well.
The notification itself, if you drag it down with 2 fingers, it should expand. And you'd have more options and viewability. Like in my previous post.
I've also upload 2 more screenshots showing you a before and after of Google Music. It's a single bar, but if you drag it with 2 fingers it expands.
EDIT: Also it is not an option your turn on and off. By dragging, I mean the actual notification itself.

As you say, it might be in the next version. Getting this stuff early is a big reason folks root and use a custom Rom. I usually do, but just haven't felt the need with the One. It is meeting my needs right out of the box.

Any link for that? I'm not sure it would work over a stock rom, non rooted, but it is worth a try...
I'm interested. Do you have expandable notifications? I mean can you expand other notifications? I've always thought this was just a JellyBean feature and not something that could be taken out and added, or something of the sort.
I discovered that I won't get notifications unless auto sync is turned on. However, even with that on, I can't preview the notification.
I turned it back off because it also lights off the LED, which uses battery, and there is no way to turn that off separately.
I'd really rather save the battery than have constant notification of gmail messages.
The reason its not working for most of you is the battery saver notification. It is listed as a high priority/ongoing notification and essentially kills the auto expand. Expandable notifications have been in Android since 4.1 not 4.2

I'm still bone stock, no root, no mods, and I can expand my notifications (if they're expandable.) I have the notification for Power Saver, and this works whether it's toggled on or off.
You have to press and drag with TWO FINGERS to expand them. Not just one.

Sorry, you didn't say anything about "top notification" for "auto expand," what you said (or how it read) was that having the power saver notification in the notifications area was what was stopping folks from being able to expand notifications (with a two-finger swipe wasn't said, but seemed to be implied.) And I didn't think we were talking about "auto expand," but about being able to make them expand if they could...
I just did it on my stock ROM using the two finger method on the notification. I still have my Power saver notification showing also. I wish it would allow me to delete instead of archive.
Hangouts in Ringer Stream - Changes Hangouts audio stream of notifications from 'notification' to 'ringer'
================
Description:
I took the Xposed Mod originally made by @OXINARF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330473) and changed it to work with the Hangouts app, because many of us prefer to use Hangouts as default SMS/MMS app. All credit goes to him.
The default Hangouts app has no option to set volume level for notifications and it uses the level set by the system to all notifications. I prefer to have it use the same level as the ringer so I made this mod to do it. This way I can have a low sound level for notifications, and a high sound level for ringer and hear not only incoming calls but also Hangouts messages.
Instructions:
You need Xposed framework for it to work. Instructions are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Just install the apk, enable the mod in the framework and reboot your device.
Supported Devices:
This should work on all devices running Android 4.0+.
Note:
This only works in default Hangouts app, other apps won't work.

How about making an app that can change or set volume for all apps separatly?
Work like This:
add an app in it and set volume for that app
add facebook and set volume to 100%
add whatsapp and set volume to 60%
...
maybe an option to change notification sound for every apps too
.
is this possible at all?

Well, this mod clearly manipulates something. Either the system or the Hangouts app.
I'm looking for a way to use Tasker for turning on/off vibration for Hangouts alerts.
Right now, I have to use the settings menu inside Hangouts for each account to toggle vibration.
Thanks for your work on this. Can you figure out a way to get "in call" notification while using hangouts? Ive tried sms popup to no avail - thought maybe you could help. Thank you
Same here , I've tried also Lightflow , but it does not give a notification sound when you receive a sms during a call.
If you can do that with your module that would be awesome!
Thanks

Sorry for telling you but the feature you request is implemented by Rom and not by the app, the hangouts module just changes the way the app notifies the phone. I am not the right man for that.
