I'm coming from a rooted Evo 4G, just got a Sprint Galaxy S3 today. Since I just got the phone I want to explore stock settings for a while and explore the phone's features. Since I was rooted on the Evo over the last couple years however, I would also like to be able to utilize Titanium backup and Wifi hotspot. Can anyone suggest a quality Rom that stays close to stock?
Thanks.
Omega 7 is worth a look.
I was on omega. Currently on checkrom because of the kitchenpro add on. Both are worth a shot. All the rom developers seem to incorporating the same stuff. The themeing is just different

This should be posted in the appropriate forum. There is an entire section dedicated to US version phones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1669
The problem with posting in here is that people are giving you ROMs made for the International Version. I checked the Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 Android Development thread and Omega doesn't have a ROM made for that phone. So the two previous posters were of no help on your Sprint Galaxy S3. If you try to put that ROM on your phone you'll do what another user did here:

NO DON'T FLASH OMEGA!
YOU ARE IN THE WRONG SECTION. Go to the Sprint forum, this is the international forum. You will brick your phone.

This should fix your issue with GPS not locking and GPS not acquiring satellite!
IT IS NOT THE CUSTOM ROM YOU LOADED ONTO YOUR ROOTED DEVICE LIKE MOST of you may think.
This is an issue with samsung and specifically samsung verizon products ie: S2 S3 Note, Note 2 etc...
And mods governing these forums please sticky this thread and maybe post a link at the end page of all those other question threads regarding GPS's not locking or requesting GPS help
Go to Settings

Go to location services
turn off VZW Location service or disable it all together if you have the option
Power cycle phone
update maps from android market if your phone auto updates after you reboot that's ok, my note 2 auto updated maps and my gps worked fine
That's it your GPS should be working now
I did this after fighting for days with my gps...allot of people are using wifi location and thinking they are getting a lock...I used this after getting 0/0 satellites and now getting 13/21...very accurate...I tried this in my house...did not work...only outside(I know its in the instructions)...thanks

The issue with GPS is within the rom. Differedt Devs use differet things to make sure that all things work. Please read your rom forum to make sure you do not have issues. GPS is a problem with "some" roms until the devs include the needed libs. There is no simple fix as of yet.
I have no idea what y'all are talking about. What problem with gps? and what rom are you all using?

While that was true when the phone came out by now the devs have blaced those libs in and are testing different ones because it will fix 95% of the peoples GPS but there are still the fringe 5% that it doesnt get fixed. It isnt just a ROM problem, devs in the S3 forums theorized that there was still data left over from your previous rom and that was causing the issue but there is no consensus on what exactly is causing the problem. I believe it is the previous ROM leaving things behind because on the S3 and this phone if GPS doesnt work from the start a quick flash back to a TW ROM, activating GPS, getting a lock, and loading your nandroid or reflashing your rom will have it fixed. The same thing happened with the NFC on the S3 and the fix was the same, so it seems the TW ROMS are leaving behind bits and pieces.
This is easier than the flashing a different rom process and it works for a lot of people, including myself, so it most definitely works, it just may not work for everyone. Then again nothing on any phone works perfectly for every single person.

Never had a problem with gps on them, but I stopped using AOSP weeks ago.
Either way, ty for the clarification.
International based ROMs sometimes given people problems with gps too. I've never had a problem though because I get a navigation lock them immediately flash.

Ive actually had issues with GPS on stock Verizon roms. I dont think any are free of it and it may just depend on the phone. I never had any issues with ANY rom on my S3 but with the N2 I have.

I have been looking for a fix for international Roms So I can run them on my Note II from Verizon
Several Roms out there for the Note II but not a lot of them unless they are Verizon Versions on the Software Some of the VZW Apps Don't work properly This should Fix the GPS Issue you might ran into.
It does two things, moves the VZW lib files over for GPS and it also should fix the volume levels in some apps that are low...

Have you tried getting a gps lock on another ROM, done a nandroid, re flashed desired ROM? Usually this fixes it. Or if you toggle between LTE/CDMA and Global under the Wireless & Networks this too sometimes helps.

So does this mean that an International ROM could be flashed followed by this and then the modem plus kernel?

Yes, I would say so I would flash Rom,Kernel, modem the boot up then go back in to recovery and flash the rom worked for me :good:
Yes, I would say so I would flash Rom,Kernel, modem the boot up then go back in to recovery and flash rom worked for me.
If it Doesn't I Flash Beans then use root uninstaller to back up the maps apk and stick it on your EXTSDCARD and go to recovery and wipe everything flash International Rom and the go to ES File Explorer and hit the menu button and go to tools/root explorer/Mount R/W and mount all RW NOT RO then go into the ES Explorer and go to Local and EXTSDCARD Then restore the Gmaps and it will ask to overwrite and say yes to all. Then reboot the Phone. When the Note II reboots then go to the Google Store and pick up GPS test its free and you can reset the AGPS and Update the AGPS Signals GO out side and get your Signal. If this doesn't work Try to Flash the Scotts GPS test Patch and should help. FYI I have had issues with the Global Mode popping up a lot and I went into the settings/more settings/Mobile Networks/Network Mode and change to LTE/CDMA and then if you get Updating Sim Card info a lot at the bottom of the Screen Set it back to Global and should fix but you will still get the Switch to Global mode Message More I am still stuck how to fix that issue.

Just if anyone wants to play with the international roms they can be found Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1790
Think this fix will work on the minitabinternational ROM? I believe its base is still the same am I wrong. Mini tab is the only ROM I've ever had that GPS doesn't lock.
This did not work on JediX14... Still no gps signal, I've tried all the workarounds
I can confirm this didn't work on Sungsonic rom. I wiped everything, flashed rom, kernel, modem, vzw patch, gps fix no service.
Edit: probably was due to the Rom being an n7100 rom

Hi all I been wanting to use the Touchwiz Jedi 14 ROM for a while now. Only problem is no matter what I do I cannot get GPS to lock. When I open maps the GPS icon doesn't show up showing its searching. I have to open navigation to see its searching. I have downloaded this ROM 4 times, each time to try something new. Does anyone have any advice? I really want to run this ROM, but I gotta have GPS. Any help or direction is always appreciated.

Jedi ROMS and GPS
I have flashed several Jedi ROMS over the last two years and I have always gone back to stock for the sole purpose of GPS. I have tried all the fixes and none of them have ever resolved the problem for me. I like many others LOVE the Jedi ROMS but require GPS to function as well as it does on stock ROM. When a GPS fix that is solid comes around, I will be right back on Jedi. I would love it if someone could find and honest clean resolution for this issue.
