[q] *efs folder* - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello fellow XDA members,
I have Galaxy S3 T999 rooted and running the latest AOKP rom (Milestone 1) (4.2.2). Do I need to backup my EFS folder? How would I do this? I have read other forums on XDA about the importance of the EFS folder, but none of the backing up methods worked. Could I just plug my phone in to my computer, and copy the EFS folder straight to it?
Thanks,

[Q] How to backup IMEI?

Hi guys,
While I've owned an HTC Hero, Galaxy S and now Galaxy S II I've never had any IMEI problems but thought since I flash a lot of roms I should back it up against the chance it could be lost.
I can't find any real guides for what this entails, only guides for attempting to restore lost IMEIs.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as how how exactly to back up an IMEI?
Cheers!

[Q] [How to? ] Back-up efs for Galaxy mini S5570

Hello everyone, and sorry for making this thread.
But i could not backup the efs folder ( it seems to be invisible on this phone, and also on these cheap galaxy phones: fit gio ace etc. ).
i`ve tried the adb method and root explorer ( couldnt find the folder ).
So i guess there are many people, wondering how to do this.
Many of them tried the methods on this forums to unlock their phones, and bricked`em. ( so no backup, no restore ).
I`m waiting for some replies, suggestions. Thanks.
Do we need to be rooted first?

[Q] Rooting Galaxy S II on 4.0.4 XXLQ6?

Hey guys,
I recently discovered CyanogenMod, and decided that I might like to install it on my Galaxy S II - However, I am very new to rooting and installing these things, and I don't even know if it's possible.
Can someone give me a step-by-step guide on how to do this?
Thanks in advance
Riku
Get your pc setup to use Odin. Then you can flash siyah-s2-v4.1.5.tar directly.....which gives you root/cwm and safe kernel.
Then backup efs folder and make nand backup.
Then visit the rom thread you like and follow instructions.
Or you can root using recovery method in my sig and flash the .zip version of siyah.

[Q] Galaxy S3 i9300T Australian - Rooting Procedure

Hey all,
--hoping I'm posting in the correct section--
Recently I happened to acquire a galaxy S3 i9300T (australian) from a friend who didn't need it any more, with 4.1.2 jellybean installed on it.
Specifically the vodafone DUEMB1 version/build from Thailand. I'm living in Southern Europe though.
I hope it doesn't matter much, even if it's the Australian model of the phone.
It seems to already be network-unlocked.
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction since I'm mainly interested in rooting it.
Mainly for the super user rights (all folder access) and to be able to run applications such as titanium backup. It's all that matters to me for easy backup.
I saw in one thread that there is the Chainfire CF-auto root that is supposed to make this very easy.
Is it compatible with the version and build I have though? Or should I first install another stock rom version or something?
Also last question. After the root, is it mandatory to install anything else or is the phone good to go ?
Thanks in advance and sorry if a question seems silly, I'm kinda new to this.

Chainfire CF auto root will be easy to follow as it was the first rooting method i did with my Galaxy S3 Australian model. Good luck!

[Q] Rooting i717m galaxy note with rogers wireles Canada

i have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Note I717m running android 4.1.2
i have looked everywhere trying to find a way to root it but i can't find a thread or site (via google) that would explain to me exactly what i need to do to root my Note specifically. I am a beginner at rooting but i have rooted my samsung galaxy s3 (only because the rooting sites were abundant and very easy to understand)
All i need is to know if there is a way to root such an old phone running the latest software, and if there is i need to know how.
thank you
Get latest twrp .tar from og dev section to use with Odin.
Uncheck auto reboot in Odin, flash recovery, and since you have the Canadian version there is an extra step as there is a script in place to overwrite a custom recovery if you boot directly into the os,
So, right after the Odin flash, button combo into recovery and factory reset, then boot into android.
Now reboot into recovery and when you go to boot again from there it should see that you're not rooted and ask if you'd like to do so.
Thank you for your quick reply!
I however dont know what you mean by twrp.tar and where i can find it
I would need links to sites and a guideline if possible because when i rooted my s3 it was one step after the other i didn't really understand all of it and it was a long time ago
Thanks again, hope I'm not asking for too much here I'm new to this forum
Its in the development section for the i717. Go to TRWP recovery. Click the link to the site and MAKE SURE ITS FOR THE I717. Download and do what stud said.
