[Q] Going back to stock recovery - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I know that this question will annoy many of you (I am a noob after all), but I cannot figure out how to remove CWM and go back the stock recovery. I have literally spent the last three hours looking up how do to this. I want to do this because T-Mo finally released JB for the T769 and it will not update via OTA without the stock recovery.
I know that artas182x tells us that in order to remove the recovery. We need to:
1. Delete /system/bootstrap directory
2. Delete /system/bin/e2fck
3. Rename /system/bin/e2fck.bin to e2fck
4. Done!
I have no clue where or how to do this. If the answer is with ADB, I don't have the first clue as how to use it.
I also know that cmahendra recommends using his offline fix, but I cannot get past the second step. Whenever I extract the shttps file to my C-drive, the http.exe file disappears. It literally is not there, so I cannot move past that step.
Can someone please help me? It would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!! :highfive:

Hello buddy,
If your http.exe file is getting disappear, that means you have installed an anti virus on you pc, disabled it before extracting shttp zip.

You need a root explorer to navigate in the system and delete that.

I did not reboot into stock recovery, but cmahendra says that flashing a KDZ removes root and CWM. I am only assuming CWM is gone. My only evidence that CWM is gone is that the LED's do not flash anymore on reboot.
Thanks cmahendra for your hard work! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344 :good:
My next effort is to try and root v10g on my P769 with the LELUS method.

Same here. Removed the ".md5" extension, and loaded in that file...all seems OK. (Even accessing the exFAT 64GB SD card!!!) :good::good::good:

Glad to know, that all ok! As for .md5 file - i think it's broken when file transfer to hosting... I try to upload .zip container with .md5 file inside.
If the checksum portion of the file is getting damaged somewhere between you and the user, is it possible something else is too. Even if it is something more or less inconsequential.
hello guys!
just got my new tab3 and am anxiously monitoring this thread.
fingers crossed.
thanks for your efforts.
Been kinda quite around here.....
Any luck on getting TWRP to work?
It works fantastic. Been using it for a week+ now. Unless I missed something, what makes you think it isn't working?

There just aren't many users responding that they've tried it and it works.
Purely a numbers game for me based on previous experiences with newly rooted tablets/phones.
Plus, I'm not fully understanding the complete instructions.
Is this TWRP only?
I guess we need root before installing this, but the only rooting method I've found installs CWM...does this overwrite CMW?
To answer the first question yes this does work I flashed it onto my Tab3 without any problem. Technically you should be able to use Odin to flash TWRP recovery and then use the root.zip file from DutchDanny's CWM thread to gain root access.

I'd agree with this. I personally used the CWM process, but using TWRP first, then root #SHOULD# work.
Somehow TWRP just doesn't seem smooth like it does on my phones and other tablet. I have to click stuff slowly and sometimes if I scroll too fast through a list for example to find a file to flash it takes me back to the main screen.
Is this just me or has anyone else noticed this?

Flash either this or cwm using Odin first and then you can install the root.zip from DutchDanny's recovery/root thread and run stock rooted or his custom ROM from that thread.

Boot into recovery by powering down the tab. Press the home button + volume up + power button and hold them. It should boot into twrp recovery. Install the root.zip from sdcard.
recovery_final.tar.md5 is cwm recovery instead of twrp. I like it better and use it, but even DucthDanny said once to use twrp to someone having an issue.
Hope this helps.
I need to write a tutorial for rooting installing custom ROMs and stuff so we all can get this from one thread.

You just have to unzip the file from DutchDannys Bindroid site and you'll end up with a recovery file that ends in md5 which is the file to put in the pda slot.

Okay first read what I wrote there earlier:

And then tell me if u can get to recovery? Maybe your bad kernel still brought cwm on your phone, if so you can flash a new rom with good kernel via recovery.
It's also important which model of phone u have, international or something like that

Volume down is download mode.
Hold menu, power and volume up at the same time.
If you have a custom recovery (likw cwm ClockWorkMod) then you would be able to flash a dorimanx kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219) I would download a 7.x version (newest) and flash it through cwm. Or, of course, if you want a different rom then flash the rom like Muthzer the One said.

Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617219

Yeah...., I could go with this too, actually. I had pretty much everything from the board loaded. Including @Chainfire 's recov. I then later attempted to update the *poluza rom parts. It was failing any which way I tried in or out of twrp. Unfortunately, I am not much of a fastboot user, nor twrp.
I thought that maybe it had something to do with this updated vendor img. By the time I was done I had reformatted several times and started from scratch not leaving out steps. As far as I know. With just these images and no device trees nor a proper updater script, there is no way to tell really.
Currently and for a few days, it's been down to bare metal, and only a fastboot to look at. lol
I can't even seem to make a new factory image flash.
Never since my first android have I been this lost frankly.....
Maybe they have them now, I will look but it would also be helpful if the guys used a bit of ......'if.....then......' in their 'OP's'
"If you are using the included recovery, then......"
"If you are using this recovery then do......."
"If you wanted to use @Chainfire s recovery, then simply paste it......."
etc.
Could anyone possibly help and provide a way to update??? I unlocked bootloader and I am rooted, but now I want to have a working way to update....ANY HELP??

OK, so using the above file and his instructions, I go back to stock. At that point, I should be able to (do my own backup again) grab the OTA from AT&T and then go through the bootloader unlock, TWRP and rooting...correct? My stock backup is corrupt, so this is a lifesaver!!!
