So I installed the jb update through ota and it was actually on a brand new phone straight out of the box. I have root I installed busybox and I have cwm by artas every thing is pretty close to completely stock. The issue is when I press my menu button my apps force close. Even when I'm at the home screen if I hit the menu button my home screen force closes. If someone could help me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it

Have you tried fixing permissions in recovery?
In addition to what Lelus said, you can also clear cache and Dalvik from Recovery.
I actually just did that and it didn't work I actually install the galaxy theme in theme and apps and it had a different systemic.apk from ics the one for in is systemic.apk and I think it was causing confusion for the phone I reloaded the stock settings and apks and it works fine now thank you for your input

On task650's AOKP from and can't seem to install apps. I get to the installation and can't press install button. Not hardware issues but show more permissions and cancel button work. Is there a way to do this no wipe, because then its not just a matter of one app.

This isn't a Rom problem. Its something on your end. wipe.

Are you using screen filter? Cause I found on the net someone who had the same problem and the screen filter activated was the cause!
I have the same problem and when I finish work I'll try it!
EDIT: confirmed to work in my case!
Yrs this worked. My problem was lux, which goes the same thing as screen filter. Uninstalled and I can now install off market apks
Same issue here. Can push Cancel button but cannot push Install button. Sometimes apps only show 'Next' as an option instead of 'Install'. Recently updated to 4.1.2013 of AOKP. Am not positive if issue started at the same time but it was around that time.
My settings keep force closing on me whenever I try to click on something to get more information. For example when I went to motion and clicked the smart alert button to learn more it would freeze and then force close on me every time. Is anybody else experiencing this? I'm on stock rooted rom.
(Also the xda premium app force closes a lot too.. Just a side note.)

Did you freeze or uninstall any system apps? That could be it

boot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache and that should fix it. Also, what rooted rom are you running?
I pretty much on stock rooted rom, it's actually Whitehawks debated stock rom. And all I did was flash that rom and use Robinsons aroma debloater full debloat. That was a long time back and then I just installed my regular market apps. The setting things I just noticed a couple days back. I didn't go into settings much. Gapps also frequently force closes too, I don't know what's causing it.
The xda force close is because I think something is wrong with the app. I saw reviews on play saying the same thing.
But yeah I didn't mess with freezing or un installing with tit bacmup.
I'll try and do the dalvik wipe and see what happens.

Tried doing the dalvik and cache wipe problem persists. The settings just force close when I learn more about smart alert and like try it and others like it, also on phone status. It just bugs me.
I really don't want to wipe and install again

I bought and downloaded Swype. Ive been a Swype user for years and love it. Got it installed and set up. However, whenever the phone reboots it goes back to stock. And for the life of me I cant find the option to switch it to Swype and have to run the setup again.
Anyone else have this issue or offer any advice?
I'm having the same issue. It's very annoying having to set up Swype again after a reboot.

was having the issue..found this thread, no help. googled and found on androidcentral an answer that has worked for me even after reboot. when going to type something and the keyboard pops up, a keyboard icon will show in the notification bar. pull that down and select the keyboard input method and change it. should be golden after that!

Reboot the phone and it will go back to stock keyboard. It's a bug. Have it on the s3 and htc one and it does it on both.

I had this issue running rooted stock rom. I made Swype a system app with titanium backup and it worked as expected after. Recently upgraded to a 4.2.2 ROM and making it a system app doesn't appear to work anymore no matter how many times i clear cache and app cache so i set Tasker to set the input method at boot and no problems... Hope it helps.
Using Titanium Backup to freeze the system keyboards fixed the same problem on my S3.
If you're rooted just freeze the HTC IME in Titanium.
Suddenly, my android phone have trouble with the issue that some of Applications close automatically right after launching, especially right after I reboot phone. What are the cause ?
After reboot, my phone still has about 200MB RAM free. however, after reboot about 1 or 2 minutes if I open Facebook,/xda,/viber ...it will automatically close immediately and back to home screen. BUT if I take the phone rest about 15mins, it becomes operating normally. No trouble with the issue that some of Applications close automatically right after launching anymore. So I don't know what's happen.
Please, give me some hints or advice.
Thanks all
Fix permissions via Clock Work Mod or any other recovery and if your Sd card is mounted to the PC you get force closes

My fiance can't access the play store on her P769. I forget what the error is, but she used to be able to access it. Her date and time is correct. It's rooted, but with the stock rom and kernel (I think the software version is P76920H).
Any ideas? Thanks!

Try to erase play store cache in settings. If it wouldn't help try to delete google account, and login again.

Rooted?
Go to Root Browser and navigate to System -> Etc, and find the "hosts" file. Delete it and reboot. That should fix it. You're welcome.

I haven't spent any time with her phone over the past month, but I'm working on it today. Since I first wrote, it lost it's ability to access data over the cell network, and won't connect to many wifi networks, either. I cleared data for Play Store and Play Services. I get a notification that it needs to update Play Services, but when I click on that, it goes to Play Store and says "No connection - Retry".
I want to wipe the phone and start new with a fresh ROM, but I can't remember how to reboot to Recovery. Holding volume-down while it powers up doesn't get me into Recovery. I'm not having much luck with Google on that, either.

Might have to do a factory reset and reroot it. I forgot the method on doing a factory reset. Something about holding a lot of buttons down.. check around, someone will tell you.

Just in case you haven't got it figured out yet. Power off phone. Turn back on and wait for the Lg logo to come on and when the bottom back lights start blinking hold the - volume button and it will go to recovery

Thanks! I didn't figure that out, but I managed to fix her phone (including wi-fi/data and Play Store) by re-flashing the stock ROM with the LGST tool. I remembered holding volume-down when powering up the phone from my HTC phones, but I guess you hold volume-down at a different point in the boot process with LG phones.
