[Q] Need help on a relatively simple problem

Hi guys,
I posted a question similar to this before, but did not get much reply.
I have a chinese Razr, and I would like to install an English stock 4.1.2 onto it. This is mostly because for some reason gapps do not work and I really do want gapps.
I have not flashed phones for two years so I have no idea what everything is. And it seemed like all these requires root. Which is my other problem: I cannot install root on this phone no matter what I try. Someone suggested to me that this was because someone had rooted this phone before in an unconventional way and this locked the phone for any future roots. And when I had updated to 4.0.4 I had lost the root and cannot regain it. I must have tried 20 different methods to root this phone already so I'm pretty sure this is hopeless until I flash a different rom.
In any case, my android version is 4.1.2 and system version is 672.300.384.XT910ChinaRetail.en.CN
And I would like to flash a stock 4.1.2 on it.
Check in the dev forum, you'll find links to the correct gapps for your
version.
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2
This is the gapps you need : http://www.4shared.com/get/HDGIsCws/update_gms_jb_spyder_r4.html
This is the china 4.12 root tool : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=spyder/razr_legacy_jbroot_034.zip
This is bmm apk : http://dl.projectlense.com/download.php?file=bmm/com.projectlense.bootmenu.getinfo.apk
What you need to do is simple, root your phone using the legacy jbroot by whirleyes, install the bootmenu manager apk file. Reboot into bootmenu recovery and flash the Gapps R4 package.
Dont thank me !

Sorry @dreamy.man but from what I know you have to be rooted.
To root, use MTK Droid Tools by rua1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490
To backup, find oscarblue's post.
There were a few ways mentioned on how to backup.
1) flash cwm and make nandroid backup
2) make a scatter file in mtk droid tools and use sp flash tool somehow. I suggest you read the thread above.
Hope this helps. Press thanks if I helped you
Deep down in my memory there's an app in playstore that can backup your rom without using root. I cant remember the name sorry.

you can use titanium backup but ot also required root
Besides, there is no big harm or risk in rooting y'know. It's flashing that's a whole new story Give it a try!

[Q] Install Stock 4.5.1 to Safestrap ROM Slot 1?

Hi guys,
so I received my Thor today, rooted it and installed Safestrap.
So I am able to install a stockrom to the rom-slot 1, am I right?
My question is, if I do that, is it safe to use OTA and update the rom, I installed to slot 1, to the latest 4.5.1?
I just like the look and want to try it, since I use Safestrap I SHOULD be safe, but I don't want to lose my root so I wanted to ask you guys, if I can really do that without risks.
Thanks in advance <3
Alright I've read in another thread, that you'd need another boot.img so I can't install it in ROM Slot 1... Sadly..

Hello to all members.

Just download and install safestrap. You can install custom rom on stock partition or rom slots.

[Q] Install CM from already rooted phone on 4.4.4

Hello all,
I currently have a Xperia Z2 with this rom installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/rom-envi-rom-stock-beta-t2811710 It's rooted with Android 4.4.4
Now, I want to try Android 5.0 with Cyanogen Mod. But it have a few questions about that.
1) Do I need to unlock my bootloader for this? I'm assuming I do since I install another non-stock version of Android?
2) Is it simply unlocking my phone, and then copying the zip files and then flash them via recovery? Or am I missing something here?
Many thanks!

Did you search? These seem like very very basic questions.
1 - Yes
2 - You also need to wipe data and caches
