[Q] Disable AT&T / HTC OTA update? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My OneX is rooted and working just fine. I'm getting the pop-up notifications from AT&T about updating. This last time I postponed it, it said (basically) I'll be forced to update in 8 hours.
is there any way to disable this?

Bump:: Anyone? I'm running out of time

I have the same thing, Seems my phone downloaded it already and wants me to install... notification pops up over and over and over. I would allow it to install if the update was solid.
Will I need root access to stop this?
It's a good update, I would do it. Just turn off GPS that eats your battery with the new update..

I'd love to know too.

[Q] Missed update also notification pulldown

Ok, so I'm on at&t and I got the notice for the 4.2.2 update. I wanted to do a factory reset before the update, which I did, but now when I go into settings and check for updates it tells me there are no update available. I was wondering if anyone has any insight as to whats going on and how I go about getting the update now. What's even more frustrating is the 24hr wait time between update attempts. Is there any way around any of this. By the way I am stock and unrooted.
Also a secondary question is about the notification pulldown. I don't know if it's just coincidental to this factory reset, or something that I amazingly never noticed, but I can pull down the notification tray from the lockscreen. I can't believe I've never noticed this before. Is this supposed to behave this way? Is there a setting that I've missed that was reset? It's annoying cause it easily unlocks when I put the phone in my pocket. I can't believe it's supposed to work that way as it completely defeats the purpose of the lock screen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I had your exact same problem. I decided to follow the suggestion @grigoriisi provided and it worked. Step by step, this is how I pulled it off.
1- I reset the phone to stock settings, after which point I suffered your same problem. I checked for updates and it said my software was up to date.
2- I went to the Time/Date settings and changed the date by 1 full day. By this point, I checked again for updates and it found one and started downloading the small update.
3- After the phone rebooted, I checked again for update and it said my software was up to date.
4- I then moved further ahead in time by another full day. After this, I checked for update and it found the full update and began downloading it.
5- Afterwards everything went as expected. Once the phone was up and running (And fully updated) I reset the date to the correct one.
Note: Some networks (as in Office WiFi or not optimally configured home networks) may prevent the phone from reaching the update server in the first place. Check for the update using your LTE connectivity, and once it starts downloading switch to the WiFi.
the trick of checking for the update on LTE worked! Switched over to wifi after getting the notification and am updating. Thanks!

[Q] Rooted vzwavservice stopped working

I get an error at each boot of vzwavservice stopped working. I don't know if this is important or not but it is annoying.
I am going to try to upload a cap of it.
I can't figure out how to load the SC of it from mobile.
You are not getting much response because pretty much everyone had that problem months ago and discussed it to death back then. I think it turned out to be a conflict between that bit of useless bloatware, McAfee Antivirus maybe it was - renamed by Verizon, and a Google Services update?
Anyway, root your G3 and freeze or uninstall that app.

Once you're rooted, you can simply freeze that vzwavsservice app and problem solved. Won't hurt a thing.
The problem also disappears if you take the Verizon OTA update.

LG G3 software update - version LS990ZVF
Features/Enhancements:
Google Security Patch - September, 2016
Important Info:
Phased roll-out of the update starts on 10/3/16 and will be completed by 10/7/16
Keep in mind devices receive the update in phases each day. Customer Care cannot tell users when they will exactly get the update. Please do not call asking. Thanks.
If they update Lollipop, then we won't wait for Marshmallow.
So this isn't Marshmallow..?

We aren't getting a MM release from Sprint
I'm fed up with Sprint. This update isn't even listed on LG. This update F"ed up EVERY single one of my my apps. Calling out is extremely slow to connect. "Unfortunately Google Play has stopped". Google login errors etc. "WiFi and mobile data currently unavailable". "Unfortunately Quick Memo has stopped".
Had to hard reset and go through setting up all the apps and logins for an hour again. Now I have a serious battery drain causing me to charge my battery several times a day.
Someone share a link to revert back to LS990ZVC, PLEASE.
I updated yesterday and i need to root my device for gsm network use
Can anyone help

Show a Verizon Miracle Please

I just upgraded to a Verizon Note 9 (USA) with Android 8.1 having experienced the utter crap that is 9 Pie, I refuse to allow the updates.
In scouring the forums I have not found a way (without root or with locked boot) to prevent OTA Verizon updates permanently. Currently I am simply staying off wifi to prevent the updates from downloading.
Using a combination of system app permission changes and data saver settings I can prolong how long it takes to received the "update ready" message.
please, anyone have a genius idea how to avoid a OTA Pie update from Verizon with a locked $1000 phone? I miss kitkat....
