But you first have to flash ics. Sorry but calling it easy root is just wrong. Easy is pushing a button and getting root like on ics.

Rooting should never be easy. Cause it was intended for someone who really wants it.
I love easy, like for example, what bin4ry has done. But, if the hard way is what possible now, then the hard way it is
Thanks for the guide
EDIT :
wait a minute, by OTA do you mean download via phone?
Can it have a same result when updating via PCC or SUS?
and 2nd EDIT : just letting you know, the ftf you provided gives me a bootloop. I chose not to wipe data. Maybe will give different result when all is wiped. Dont know

Well, I think that the explanation in this thread is way more useful than the one that you quote, in which you magically get OTA update to JellyBean, I tried both and it was this that worked for me. I suggest to update the info in your thread with this explanation, unless you want to create some kind of "noob wall" to prevent non experts from getting root on their devices (mostly kidding).

Just one thing..
This method works also with superuser only (ota rootkeeper is not necessary).
I followed this way:
-flash the old ICS rom posted by lebartman (thanks again)
-root that rom using the old bin4ry tool for rooting ICS (or flashtool, I think it's the same, the important is having superuser after the root)
-update superuser to the last version using play store (most important!!)
-use the features that are also directly inside the last superuser: first check OTA survival, then check also temp unroot (both are in the info panel of superuser)
-update to JB via OTA update
-after the complete update, uncheck temp unroot in superuser
-Done (JB rooted and all 100% working!!)
My 2 cents.

Fine thanks

Yes, I've check it. Regarding supersu, I think u can simply install it after rooting and then remove superuser..

Merci pour m'avoir mentionné dans l'OP, @lebartman.
For the moment, there are two working methods to get root for JB: this one, and flashing the prerooted ROM. For those who can't live with that and want a more simple one-click method: be patient, do not rush anybody, sometimes someone will come out with an easier way.

[Q] Rooting Xperia P by DooMLoRD Toolkit v16

Hi,
I found this nice tool to ROOT the Xperia P (and actualy all Xperia series!).
I guess many of you know this:
DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit v16
I read a lot by Google about ROOTING the Xperia P + Xperia SL too and i dont understand the thing with BOOTLOADER UNLOCKING:
1) Is there a chance that the Bootloader comes unlocked from manufacturer?
2) If it do comes LOCKED in each N' each model - by doing the ROOT it unlocking the bootloader?
3) And...if NOT by the Root procedure - How may i supposed to unlock it?
Thank you for your time!

1) Maybe some devices for devs could have unlocked bootloader. Not the one we actually buy
2)Root will not unlock the bootloader. Root will make you access all system and data files of your phone.
3)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159 Here is how you can unlock it
DaRk-L0rD
Thanks for your answer.
1. If i only want to be able to access all system file (root) and do replace the rom, I MUST UNLOCK IT?
What is the unlcoking thing gives?
2. Executing the ROOT will remove the ROM too?
3. I first have to make the ROOT and only afterwords UNLOCKING the device?
Thanks again!

1) You have to unlock the device only if you want to install roms like cm, muiu etc or in case you want to install a custom kernel. You don't have to unlock bootloader to root. There are also kernels that have autoroot scripts, that means, that after you unlock your bootloader you can install a custom kernel and have root without doing anything else.
2)No, it will not remove your rom. Otherwise will be useless mate
3)No. You can unlock bootloader but have stock firmware just as mom sony gave it to us.
4)Don't say thanks bro, hit the thanks button

So in case i want to stay with the stock (haven't noticed to Hebrew baked rom for the P + SL), i just need to ROOT it.
From your experience (or knowledge) - which method of ROOTING the experia P + SL would be the most easier one? ("one click do all" style)
The root isnt replacing the Recovery, am i right?
I will hit the the thanks button AND will write it too - as i appreciate everybody help here:good:

Nope. You have to install cwm by yourself. To install cmw you must be rooted.
This is the cwm for xperia p: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020895&highlight=cwm. It's for ics but should work on jb too.
Instead of the CWM - i can just pass on it and install TWRP?
Or i won't able to flash the TWRP without a costum recovery (and that's why i need to first flash the cwm)?
The cwm is installed by connecting the device to PC (with usb debugging ) -> click on the install file.
This is the method?

Have no idea about TWRP mate. Can't help you on this.
As about cwm installation, yes that's the procedure. The procedure is the one you can find on the first post of the link i gave you.
Root and cwm are pretty simple to install (thanks to devs for making this possible) and very useful

If you have hebrew support for keyboard morelocale2 should be able rp change the interface to hebrew too.
I'm cirrently on The Dark ROM V2.5, and can use hebrew.
Make sure to backup you're original ROM or create the FTF file from PCC files.

You right!
morelocale2 will turn everything to Hebrew :good:
Maybe you or anyone that know more then 1 Rooting method, can tell me for the most easiest "1 click to root" tool?
I looking to find a tool that i just need to:
1) Plug the Xperia to the usb port.
2) Open the Rooting SCRIPT.
3) Hit something ......... AND LET THE PARTY BEGIN.
Dont want to write / copy the commands.
P.S: regarding the Backup of the original ROM - it done in the phone - after i connect it and open the script, am i right?
Thanks!

Only one I know is DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit, yes you have to type 3 lines, realy not that difficult. You can copy them form the console window and paste the there (right click + mark, nark the command, press enter, then right click and paste).

I thnk you can only backup the formware after having root , haven't done it myself, I just use the FTF I have built from PCC files.
Thanks (;
But as there is 1-2 tool's that do it in 1 click without copy->paste ... i prefer them.
I found these that doing that in 1 click:
1) DooMLoRD
2) Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 more important thing - please look at the attached screenshot of the xperia driver.
During the installation - what do i have to chose in "i386"? (i have an Intel pc). **there is 3 dll files there**

To sum up:
-root gives you access to the system files, which gives you the possibility to install apps that give you more privileges over your phone(cwm, ad blocks,etc...)! I used the doomlord method to root my XP.
-CWM: I installed CWM using recoveryx (Google it)!
-root & CWM: while having root access and CWM installed, you can flash some stock based roms(e.g. dark Rom, moonbreaker...)
-unlock bootloader: this option gives you the possibility to flash CUSTOM kernels(sliding, phantom...). A custom kernel provides you more governors, io schedulers, tweaks that extends your phone's battery life, performance,etc... keep in mind that after unlocking the bootloader you cannot have updates from mother Sony(as I've read, there are ways to relock your device but I don't know how).. but that's why we have xda also, with the bootloader unlocked, you can use the flashtool to flash stock firmware(in case something goes wrong)!
Right now, I have my bootloader unlocked using the sliding v9 kernel and Dark ROM v2.5....I am pretty satisfied because the battery life is slightly improved and the well known call lag seems to be fixed.
Hi hliasant,
Thanks so much for all the blessed info'!!
I just found out that i CANNOT use DooMLoRD method Bc's both of the devices on ICS.
B.T.W: it could be tha the SL is (only) on 4.0 ICS ?
Is there any tool that make the 3 procedures ("1 tool do all"...)?
Anyway, i dont want to move away from the thread topic...Is it o.k if i'll pm with you?
Thanks!
Feel free to pm me...
I'd recommend you update to latest firmware on your Xperia p, then do the rest jobs! I can only help you with your Xperia P as I ,too, have one
Concerning your SL, I have no clue about what you can do with it... :-\ you can either create another thread or search the forums!
Hi,
Just rooted the SL by using the DooMLoRD - this was so easy!
Maybe i'll wait for DooMLoRD version that will support the P 4.0.4 6.1.1B.1.54 too.
Why don't you update your Xperia p to 6.2.a.1.100 using the pc companion?

2) Calls are just hang off (not by me or by the anyone else).
3) 3G problems.

What is the chanse that this process can overwrite the files system (b.l, radio, rom...) and resolve the problem?

Only sucseed unlocking the bootloader.
I tried also to change the kernal (read it on another guide) but it just wasnt helpful.
I think that the solution will be ONLY by flashing the factory rom + factory kernel by the flashtool.
The question is how can i find the right factory rom?
Have to say that i quait afraid that i will flash the wrong files...

I did not suggest to unlock the bootloader, I just asked, because PCC would not update unlocked bootloader.
Have you tried SUS? It won't update unlocjed BL either, and won't even begin to update, I had a message telling I have a modified FW and it cannot update, but PCC only fails after it download the files.
What error did you get in PCC?
"Factory rom" vary from country and service providers if it sold with a contract. Which ROM exactly do you need?
Which FW version do you have now?

Good news...hope so
I canceled the Root in bootloader -> then updated the rom with the updating software of Sony and the process finished without any issues.
Till now it looks good...but w'll need to have more then 8 hours of use to know if it did resolved it.

FTF Decrypt and upload thanks to Chemcup:

I think should work on C6802/6806 as well, maybe something disabled/or/enabled and not usable on the Mobile connection menu, related to LTE/4G band.....
I've tested with success a firmware for C6802 Taiwan (.510) on a European Z Ultra C6833 device. And was working flawless, so i guess this should work on any Ultra.
***I TAKE NO RESPONSABILITY, IF YOU DO NOT OWN A C6833 and flash this on a C6802/6 DO A YOUR OWN RISK.
and beside working, your device may be also recognized as a C6833 after a direct flash of this.
Please follow flashtool guide to flash FTF, and use last version:
Release 0.9.13.0
Available from the developer's site.
http://www.flashtool.net/
General disclaimer: Flashing without Sony Update is a method generally unsupported, and it may void the warranty. So do it on your own risk. If things go wrong, you may try the "repair my phone" option on Sony Pc Companion (PC) / Sony Mac Bridge (MAC). Also, users that do not hurry in updates, may just wait the proper release for their phones to be released into official Sony Xperia channels.

dont think that .257 will be rootable so fast, will take some time.
Thanks mate, you could check CDA from about>>diagnose>>device fact and no need to root
Can you do a zip file as well?
CDA please. then i can help you download. my connection is way faster than yours
waveloom said:
Sure, i will let you know when i finished everything, also i dunno if i can still get to system prop without the root and the cheated CDA has been replaced with its original again.

You just need to try and root it through Vroot and check if that still works...

@ OP:
Did you actually check that FTF chemcup uploaded? he did say e was't sure if he did it right.
Did you try to flash it on your device?
Thanks,
Hi all, I tried to flash the version, it works excellent, for those who are not comfortable with the FTF, just change youe CDA to:1275-8026 R11A, you will receive the updates from PCC
Been trying the firmware..
All nasty bugs like phantom clicks, SOD, wifi messed, backlight seems to be gone.
General speed is above good!
I would say A+ for this firmware release.
Root with 257
I upgraded to 257 and now I can not rooting my ulrtra as I did before with Vroot. What can I do?

So here VROOT 1.7.1 for who want to try:
http://www.mgyun.com/vroot
Also Kingo may work as well.. even if it has been unofficalized from rooting methods due to a fishy acting on network, that may put some adware or similar.. so, use at your own risk, but i managed to root .532 without any flaw.

Just one question, My phone boot-loader is locked and I want to keep my TA partition untouched, so I can use X-Reality in movies and so on.
With this method, can I root the phone (290) with locked bootloader and keep my TA partition untouched?
Reagards.
^^ no. Step 1 requires an unlocked bootloader.

Great job! Rooting works well. Can't seem to be able to unlock the device but this is beta so I will wait a little longer. Just keep me posted if you have any clue on why the unlocking part keeps saying that it failed because my device is already rooted when it is not.
Again here, I appreciate you sharing the tool with us.

Never, NEVER, flash something to a GPe from the normal C68xx range.
At best you will pull your hear out, at worst you will end up with a very expensive waterproof coaster. There have been 3 or 4 hard brick of the GPe from people flashing the wrong things to their GPe.
Files for the GPe will be labeled as such and will most often be in the GPe dev section
Great work
Tnx a lot!

EDIT: updating right now, I'll be back after using Towelroot again and installing Dual recovery...
Interesting that the version change from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 update is being done via an ota patch, you'd think (as per other updates) this would be a full pc ftf update..
Dammit, didn't know I couldn't update with Sony bridge if I was on an unlocked bootloader.
I want this 4.4.4 now ?

Just FYI, Easy Towelroot (v7) works a treat with 4.4.4, everything goes like it's supposed to.
Also installed dual recovery from NUT's repository, and currently running every xposed module I was running on 4.4.2.
Oh yeah!

Hi fasty, I've changed build prop to match yours on a full reflash of 757 {which I then towelrooted} - plugged in pc companion and hey presto 4.4.4

Easy Root is @v7, looks like he mixed it up with Towelroot since Towelroot has to be copied to the files folder of Easy Root.

Version of NUT's recovery is the last beta, can't remember the number...
@op edit the first post, you need to have USB debugging enabled, otherwise it doesn't recognize the device...
How do i get the ota on my c6806? I know its released here. Thank you.
I'll try and make an ftf.. I'm back on 4.4.2 monx but pc companion still says update is available due to my build prop edits..
I'll try and do a "repair" 4.4.4 install and make the ftf off the full downloaded (which repair does but update doesnt).
Give me a few hours (sharing pc with 10yo minecraft obsessed son lol)
