Hello , hi there
I have a major problem with WiFi . :/
The WiFi keeps disconnect/drops when I installed ANY ICS OR JB BASED ROMs.
ALL OF THEM. When opening the Google Play app, I often gets "Connection timed out" error.
But, with GB based ROM, the WiFi is okay, no problems at all. No drops. Really no problems.
ALL GingerBread BASED ROMS have no problem when I installed in my phone.
This is very frustrating because I do want to upgrade the Android version on my phone.
I do try using the 'Wifi Fixer' , 'WiFiX' , but it doesn't helps at all.
Here is the info about my phone, ROMs & Kernels I used :-
Phone: Xperia Pro MK16i (iyokan)
Bootloader: Unlocked
Root status: Rooted
Region where I'm at: Malaysia (my)
ROMs (That gives me the WiFi drops problem) :-
FXP CM10 (JB)
FXP CM9 (ICS)
Xperia Ultimate HD by jader13254 (ICS)
Zelly Cream by gagan.u20 (ICS)
Jelly Dream by MXY1997 (ICS)
Kernels :-
Fusion v5.5 by mechmetal
Linux 3.0.8 by nobodyAtall
LuPuS v11 JB CM10 based
LuPuS v3 ICS CM9 based
Vengeance 1.36
Is there any ways to fix this?
EDIT:
Until now , this is very frustrating . I tried every single step , every single fix . No a single thing could fix this .
The only way for me to enjoy WiFi like normal is to flash Gingerbread ROMs .
I would end up with WiFi drops problem if I flash an ICS ROMs for my pro .
In addition , I've flashed these ROMs too ; (note: problem still persist)
Xperia Blue Ice by saqib nazm (ICS)
Xperia Ice Cream Pureness by ThilinaC (ICS)
Any advice on this ?

Did you try on different hotspots with different wifi configurations, is the behavior the same?

Yup , it is the same . The WiFi didn't work as it is supposed to .
Maybe it is something related to the baseband ? Because when I'm upgrading to ICS from GB , I flashed the custom ICS ROM without flashing the stock ICS ROM first . Is it this the problem ?
That's probably what's wrong. whatever ROM you're using:
Boot recovery
Wipe/factory reset
Advanced>wipe dalvik cache
Go back
Flash the ICS/JB ROM zip, where the wi-fi wasnt working, again.
Now wipe again and reboot
Tell me if it didn't work

Tried and it didn't work . The same problem occurred .
Maybe I should flash the latest stock ROM Baseband , according to the Android version ?

Have you tried just using Cyanogen-mod instead of random AOSP roms? Give one a try and get back to me...:fingers-crossed:

I'd try with this all ROMs , all this give me the WiFi drops problem . (and yes , I flashed the WiFi modules accordingly)
FXP CM10 (JB)
FXP CM9 (ICS)

Zelly Cream by gagan.u20 (ICS)

LuPuS v3 ICS CM9 based

I tried to flash the newer baseband , but the problem still occurs .
It seems baseband doesn't related to WiFi much .

When use KA17.2 what kernel do you use? Try NightElf v1 rc2 kernel, wipe all, wipe dalvik cache, format cache partition. And inside Aroma Installer choose default instead custom.
Look at my signature, and you'll see
JJ hybrids rom This is smoothest and full working rom on the forum
Thanks, i'm in test...

Hi people..
I have just unlocked my bootloader.. Can you please suggest ICS Roms for better and smooth performance than the stock Rom and the appropriate kernels for them!
And should I first install the rom or kernel?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
First kernel, then rom.
Head out to dev section and have fun in testing and finding which is best for you. Everyone have different opinions. But try aosp or aokp roms
try the new xperia pureness v3 its amazing, its still beta but its very good
You can try night elf kernel plus ka21.1 ics rom.

if u want smooth working phone install Polish Blood....
if u want customized with toggles and everything use AKOP,CM9
if u want stock rom use Spacious, smooth and light ICS
but if u want everything working perfectly & smoothly go back to a GB Rom -- codename_ei8ht-----a super rom by a super dev:good:
Get codename eight by emann... on gb..
Else for ics.. try otu whatever u can... i prefer aokp only.. and spacious by shradul..
Rest.. well.. not meant for me atleast..
I use Paranoid Hybrid based on Cynogenmod 9 unofficial version. It's heck of a ROM to start with. You get Cyno feel along with ICS 4.0.4 and also toggle between Tablet UI and Phone UI. It's smooth, fast and gives what you want. You can also use variety of Themes available for Cynogenmod. Please use FXP Kernel.

Though I agree that the rom is excellent, I would stick to 20.1 until issues with the market, gallery, walkman etc is resolved. 20.1 just comes off as a more stable release and recommended for those who don't want to spend time configuring after install. Just my opinion..
A good tip might be to use titanium backup, which can also backup contacts and text messages. Since you often need to format when switching or updating roms.
Kernel & ROM Combo
I also have the Night Elf Kernel plus KA21.1 ICS ROM. No need to factory reset if unlocked and already running a previous version of KA. No issue what so ever on my SE Neo Mt15a

hey there,
I'm currently running the 9-20121028-NIGHTLY-mango on my xperia mini pro. the kernel is 2.6.32.9-FXP.
I'm wondering if I can change easily to the Zelly Cream 2.0 ROM.
In this thread it says I need a .587 base but I can't figure out whether this cyanogenmod has the requested base or does that mean i have to go back to stock? if so where do I get that stock ROM?
thanks for your help
EDIT: ****, I meant CM9

If you have CM9 then that must mean you have an unlocked bootloader. So, just flash a compatible kernel like Lupus or Mesa, wipe the required stuff (data, cache, system & dalvik cache) and then flash the rom and reboot.

That is only for locked bootloaders.
ok. i downloaded th lupus kernel. going to test it now
EDIT: after hours of trying. no success. I tried the rom with different kernels but it wouldn't work :/ it always stopped after the installation. the lights were on and nothing happened for nearly an hour.
i'm back to cm 9.1 with the lupus kernel.
EDIT2: I couldnt go to sleep without trying a third time this time with the mesa kernel, succes! the system is starting and running smoothly. thank you all!

Also I am planning to move to zelly cream having CWM 10
as far as I can see it works great. in the beginning i had some randomn reboots but they are gone now. But I have another little problem and since I don't have 10 Posts I can't ask in the Zelly Cream Thread.
There is no system alarm installed in the ROM. How can I get a system alarm like the one in stock or in CM?
I there a zip I can flash?
hopefully someone sees my request in here

If you like still to use Zelly cream i suggest you to install until v2 not v2.5 for me it was faster before the 2.5 update

this is the link for Mike's AOSP

the difference
super jelly bean 3.0 is based on cm10
Mike's rom is built from Android Open source Project no addition cm10 feature it's same as stock jb 4.1.2
super jelly bean AOSP 2.0 is a soft mod based on Mike's AOSP

If you care about hd video recording you can consider Xperia Ultimate HD by jader (based on ICS).
Anyway JB roms are much more smoother than ISC based.
like they said flash jb rom
just flash super jelly bean 3.0 plus fusion withe zram :good: and u will get fast phone ever
but zelly cream one of the best ics rom i tried

Hello!
I also use the rom Zelly Cream 2.5 ... initially was super fast but now, the past three weeks, is very slow.
I've read in posts that "ICS" becomes very slow.
To make calls takes a few seconds until the contacts.
Cumps.

I wouldn't know. Xperia P runs JB without a problem, but it's not bug free or super stable.
What phone do you have ?? If you have xperia u you have lot of rom based stock JB. I was use this one ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2270027 ) and its greate and its looks bugfree .
Srry for my english. If you do not understand something. You tell me. I will try to improve.
I use the lite Version of DevSwift1s JB Stock ROM (V6) on my Xperia U. In my oppinion it's faster, smoother and more stable than ICS ever was.
