Considering the similarities between the domestic variants of the Note 2 and their international counterparts, would anyone be willing to test some of the success that the folks over in the AT&T forum have had with porting the international N7100/N7105 firmware/ROM's over to the Verizon Note 2
Check out these two threads over in the AT&T forum and see what you all think:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016575
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411
The basic gist of the procedure is to use a custom recovery like CWM or TWRP to flash a stock N7100/N7105 firmware, and then flash your carrier specific modem/kernel.
Why would anyone want to do this? Well, for starters, you would benefit from built-in stock-supported tethering, and a few other features that carriers disable (YMMV). But mainly this means that the domestic versions of the Note 2 can benefit from the development of the international versions! So, when the latest version of Android comes out for the rest of the world, we aren't stuck here waiting for our carrier to catch up to everyone else...
So what do you all think? Anyone willing to try?
ba-ba-ba-BUMP.
What about integrating carrier specific apps? The Verizon version has a data usage app that works without logging into my Verizon.
I do believe that is what scrosler was doing here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055218 and he said this in the features " Verizon Patch files in a flashable zip can be found http://www.cleanroms.com/downloads/Note2/VZW Patch for 7105 Base.zip This will let the ROM think you are a VZW ROM! Good for the Play Store and APN settings! " But.... He did say he was unsure if it works on other roms in his second post. You possibly could try it. : )
Thanks. . But I'm already using his VZW rom

Any chance that Scott's patch would work on the CM10.1 nightlies for N7100? If I try it, do I risk bricking?
Sent from my Galaxy Note II using Tapatalk 2
You risk a soft brick. Just make a nandroid backup first and you'll be fine.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Just make sure you don't flash modems and keep a stock kernel on hand
Yeah since the hardware is nearly identical I think the most you would risk is a soft brick. The 7100 lacks LTE though so I'm not sureif you would have data on one of those roms. Tell us how it goes if you go through with it.

Don't flash this on At&t. It will work but you will not have a working phone or data. You also might have a lot of trouble getting 3g/4g to work when you flash back.
I know it is for the Korean version but I thought your devs might find a way to download and take a peek. The site is in Chinese and I can't figure it out.

Doubt we'll see it soon. AT&T still needs to get it's grimy little hands on it. I say two months before they start releasing it, then they'll stop updates because of issues with AT&T crap, then try again after another month. Textbook OTA updates.
Well more of hoping that the Korean source will help our developers

Official AT&T JB upgrade is 6 months away, if we are lucky. A strong possibility that LG will renege on their promise to bring JB to US. But, no worries, as we have devs who are working hard to bring us JB and more. Right, devs?
ATT still needs to add the required bloatware before releasing it after LG does. I even unlocked my bootloader using shellnutt's $1 app on Google Play to show some support. hell i even logged in and did my first post after being registered for 6+ years with 0 posts to thank the devs on their posts!

You guys want some good news?
I worked a 96 hour shift minus 12 I came home to run errands. Well, I was going to flash one of the roms but I could at work. Everyone thought I was crazy but I knew the hardware was just too similar.
Anyways, someone flashed the firmware and it worked. One of the roms is a CDMA Rom but it is set up for a different frequency. Everything works but no phone or data. WiFi even worked.
So, I don't know if one of you want to try it but the K or S version might work on at&t.
Check and see what frequency they are on and try that one. You might have everything but lte.
Anyways, I am not sure how different the At&t phone is but it is worth a try.
Do it at your own risk.

Nexus 4 Roms? I'd like to find out a little bit more about this.. I'd just like an AOSP ICS rom..
Skeleton Key
What is it and why UVLG3 base?
If you aren't on T-Mobile, just stop reading and hit your back button.
I recently switched from AT&T to T-mobile, and in doing so, had to play the "Which modem works" game. During that time, I realized there's a nice sized community of users on this forum that use tmo for their carrier. Since all our AT&T bases don't support Wifi Calling, and that's one of the neato features of T-Mobile, and since there doesn't appear to be any active Tmo ROMs these days, I figured I would update the UVLG3 base with a lot of the features and toys in my Jellybean Sandwich ROM. No WP7 task switcher, though. You people hate that.
Features
UVLG3 Base
Wifi Calling
Flapp's 3.0.2 kernel
Custom Animations (Check JBS thread)
Mikeyxda's Google Now port for ICS
ES File Explorer
Flash Player
Adblocked Host file + AdAway 2.3
Android 4.3 Fonts
Android 4.3 Sounds
Latest Market
Latest Youtube
Latest Google Maps
Greenify
GPS Tweaks
CRT Off Animations[Xposed]
Custom Carrier[Xposed]
Center/Colored/Whatevered Clock [Xposed]
Installation
Wipe Cache & Davlik & Data (No data if you're upgrading)
Download and flash ROM
If you need a T-Mobile Modem, Download the UVLG3 modem
Install Google Keyboard from market if you like the 4.2/3 Keyboard
Install whatever camera app you prefer rather than stock
Install the launcher you fancy
Changelog
+Flapp's kernel
+Few useful apps
Bugs:
None, I reckon. Maybe though. Who knows.
Sources & Thanks:
Thanks to JamieD for posting some of the 4.3 goodies and pumping out AOSP like we actually pay him for it.
Thanks to eng.stk for creating (porting?) the framework animations
Thanks to ptmr3 and bigfau for banging their heads against the touchwiz wall and making miracles happen.
Thanks to FemBlack for XblastTools

i understand that the sprint n2 data partition is different, but if we changed that mount point within the install script could we feasibly install it and it work after we flashed the config file as well? i know this is probably a dumb question, but it was one that came to my mind after venturing off into the sprint n2 forum. thanks!

Actually, I was reading up this morning about AT&T ROMs on the Verizon Note 2 and it is not only doable, but also works pretty well. When done from what I just said (Flashing AT&T to Verizon) you are obviously locked out from Verizon and 4G LTE but if you have an AT&T or any GSM SIM for that matter it will work. The only real issue is GPS not working, for some reason our devices don't like the GPS setup from any ROM's other than Verizon's.

I just purchased my S5 yesterday (April 17th), but I regret selling my M8. I thought the S5 would have more dev support and more ROM's than M8, but I guess I was wrong. On the T-Mobile M8 Android Dev section there is a GPE ROM and a RUU to covert the M8 to stock android.
I was expecting like 5-10 ROMs on the S5 already (as was with the Note 3), but I guess I'm wrong? Or can I flash ROM's meant for the non T-Mobile S5?
That's my main question.
Where are the ROM's?
wow really?
Impatient much?
You do realize that this phone came out less then two weeks ago.
And I am sure that not that many people have jumped to this since there were so many people that develop that are already on the s4 and the s5 is not that much of a upgrade for them to switch.
Not to mention that the AT&T and Verizon cariants are not rootable yet and more developers are typically on those networks to begin with.
Give it a little more time for the others to get root and developers to move over and get used to the different setup and roms will come.

Well just saying the M8 has more ROM's and even stock android flashability (made that up )
Seriously though, there is a GPE ROM for M8 that allows you to flash back to stock still, and the RUU Google Play Edition, which essentially converts the M8 on T-Mobile (and other carriers) to a GPE version of the M8 permanately.

I haven't tried it, but I would assume it works fine as long as you keep the T-Mobile firmware. There is some discussion in the general thread about people running the international ROMs as well as in the international forums, look around. I'm thinking of upgrading as well, but coming from carrier specific devices (the Samsung Infuse, ATT only, and the Nexus 4 on Simple Mobile), there hasn't been different variants. So the T-Mobile devices is compatible with ROMs built for the international variant? Would the kernels for it be compatible as well? The only thing that would be lost would be the carrier specific additions such as built-in VOIP? No differences in partition layout?

APN shows T-Mobile, so I believe its just a kernel/radio issue. It's up to you if flashing a custom ROM is worth no LTE.

You need to verify the T-Mobile APN. Maybe the settings are not for T-Mobile LTE. I had the same issues after my flash but I am on AT&T. Just make sure the APN settings match that of T-Mobile LTE. Carriers have more then one APN.

I agree, but the M8 Android Dev thread still has more threads, when it had a locked bootloader! You can argue since its easy to unlock etc, but come on. I remember when the S4/Note 3 had dozens of ROM's in like 2 weeks.

Did you flash International S5 ROM on ATT S5? Which ROM did you use? How is the experience? Is everything working?
Thanks in advance

I am currently using AllianceROM. It works great. No issues.
I seriously doubt that since there is no root for the AT&T variants
