Hi All,
I upgraded my P769 to Jellybean using the rooted method. My question is what pre-installed bloatware is safe to disable/remove?
Also, what is the best method: disable in applications, physically remove, freeze using TB or some other method.

I'm stock unrooted and have disabled all bloatware with absolutely no problems. Have to uninstall updates for most before you'll see an option to disable. My battery life have increased tremendously.
I use the bloatware disable script that we've been using for a while and it does the same thing. works great.

I've been searching for the bloatware disable script, but I can't find it. Could I possibly get a link?

disable_tmus_packages.sh
Its in system/etc
Use smanager from play store to run it
I found it right before you replied. I installed smanager and ran the script. Then, I went to Titanium Backup and defrosted lookout security and t-mobile my account.
Thanks,
Keith

Try installing Titanium Backup and use that to remove the apps. There's also an option to freeze the app, which allows you to monitor if there are any adverse impacts.

Hi, I already rooted my phone using the auto rooting programs.
but when i try to use programs that need Super user access.
it says my phone needs to be rooted?
what could be causing this?

Do you have a Superuser.apk or something similar in /system/app/ ?
Yes i do,
I got it to work by closing all my background apps and loading titanium back up again.
Thanks
Has anyone experienced after updating to JI6 that they cannot remove the bloatware from the apps menu? I tried removing it with Root Explorer but it still lingers no matter what I do.
EDIT: I updated my version of Root Explorer. I was running 2.12.1 I think, and updated to 2.12.4. Have to mount as R/W in, but it worked and I was able to get rid of my bloatware! Thanks the3dman, I would not have thought about checking what version I was running till you mentioned it.

The old version of root explorer does not work on ji6 you need to get 2.12 it works fine on ji6.

Same issue...
I was bricked by the Tmob JI6 update... I followed Odin stuff... got my phone back to stock... rooted.
I reinstalled Root Explorer and I tried to start removing bloatware... it says that the software is read only.
Any solution or ideas?
PS: I paid for launcher pro, and now it looks like I don't have it... nor do I have an e-mail with my unlock code... what is the deal with that?
Terminal still works just fine.

With all the no-flash back BS, you are much better off freezing apps instead of deleting just to be safe...

I believe Moto/AT&T have made it so you cant uninstall their bloatware.
Beamed from WinBorg 4G via XDA Premium
Root and move the app from /data/apps due to permissions the apps will not allow for uninstall without root. It is safer to use titanium backup to freeze the apps because some roms won't update without all apps

I am on kens rom. i can go to settings, applications, manage apps, select stuff like att code scanner, familymap, etc., and get an uninstall option. Doesn't work on OTA?
Use systemapp remover from the market.
p.s. dont remove "Superuser" though

Hi,
I have rooted my s20 following the tutorial, it seems to work, I have root privileges etc.
I'm trying to remove facebook with apps like root uninstaller, nobloat free etc but it doesn't work, either it looks like it worked but the app is still around, or it says "Error, uninstall failed".
Do you know why?
Cheers

Thanks. I tried. It says it worked. If I look simply via the search bar it still shows the app (and other packages). I tried to reboot too but they are still there and re appear in titanium... I'm not sure what's happening !

Facebook is a vendor apk who pays Samsung to install it on almost all Samsung devices. You can not delete it only disable.

Below debloating script does just that...and much more, with notable battery improvements. It also removes YouTube and Maps but you can install them afterwards.
