Nook tablet 16gb bootloops when connected to charger/PC via usb cable - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Hi all,
Been using my nook tablet from the past 6 months or so without any issues, used regularly by my 6 year old nephew responsibly to play his games until this summer when his elder cousin sister arrived n screwed it up big for me n him
so after i rescued the tablet from her clutches it had already gone into factory reset.
and also it been rebooting continously as soon as i connect it to the PC,
so i installed a 1.4.2 backup thru CWM on it. but while rooting i used the root update for 1.4.3 mistakingly.
n nothing helped, i guess it screwed up things even more.
have tried adams ubuntu total wipe n reflash method, meghd00t's recovery rom as well but the nook gets restored to factory settings n works all fine until i connect the charger again!!
one thing i feeling that maybe if i find a 1.4.3 cwm backup or flashable image maybe things would workout somehow.
So i request any users who have working cwm backups for nook stock 1.4.3 ver , please share the links with me.
Thanks in advance,
Akshay Alone

Automatic 3.05 update partially bricked my touchpad

New problem: is there a way to backup your Memo (stickies notes) without booting into webOS?
where are the text data files located?
Is there a way to restore/revert webOS system while leaving my Android portion untouched?
So after updating to 3.05 and installing a custom IME (which worked for 3.04) I've bricked the webOS portion of the touchpad.
The Android system still boots fine, and I don't want to wipe that just to get webOS working.
BTW this is what I don't like about HP, I never intended to update 3.05, simply left my touchpad charging overnight, then woke up in the morning & found out the bad news.

It sounds like you have to doctor your TP.
Search 'doctor', there are several how to threads that should guide you through the process.
Mine too
My install of 3.0.5 did not complete, in the process it wiped out Moboot 0.3.4 What I did to recover is download the latest Doctor from the HP site and ran it. That updates the OS correctly. Then I looked at the files and found that all of the Android mods/files were still there.
So I just installed the new version of Moboot using ACMEInstaller and then I did the same thing for Clockwork recovery. Rebooting into Clockwork recovery, I reloaded Xron 2.9.1 from the zip file which was still on the Touchpad.
Everything Android is working fine right now.
I suspect that there is a better way, but I don't have 10 posts to ask in the developers section.
Using the "Doctor" wipes out WebOS settings and Apps so you have to reinstall those just FYI.
Thanks for the valuable information, it's good to know that I don't have to reinstall all the android apps.
Now I'm trying to find a way to back up my memo files in webOS...
Yeah, the doctor resets your device to factory...I used it often during my pre- days. Make a nandroid next time so if something does go wrong, of will be easier to restore what you had. Just copy the backup to your PC before using the doctor.

If u still have android and can boot into cwm , then make a nand.backup so you can restore your cm7 / xron exactly as it is.
now webosdoctor 3.0.5
then if needed install moboot0.3.5 and cwm with ACMEInstaller
IF Android not present in Moboot , restore nand.backup in cwm.
As long as u have a Nand.backup u can wipe Android as many times as u want.
I really must learn to type faster
They should be backed up automatically. They will restore after you set your account back up in web os. I had to run the doctor to fix my 3.0.5 update and all my stickies are still there.
I'm in the same boat as you guys here except that it worked fine yesterday (I needed it for work) and I forgot to charge it last night. I went to work and before my office meeting started I plugged it in, figuring it would have enough juice for me to use. Well... I realized it wasn't charging at all and its not the charger. No matter how long I held the power button I couldn't get anything to come on. I came home and placed it in the touchstone charger and nothing either. It seems like I'm screwed with a bricked 32gb touchpad. I did buy it direct so I guess I'm going to try to send it in (hopefully I'll get lucky, I'm going to deny any tampering with) to HP. I haven't connected it to my pc yet but if I get nothing there's no way to run Doctor, right?
Any constructive thoughts would be appreciated.
Update: You are not going to believe it, after messing with different combos of button pressing (which did nothing) all the sudden it just powered up (all I did was plug it back to the wall). And, as I was typying this it rebooted it self with boot screen which started CM7 again. Do you guys have any suggestions? Should I update the moboot?
The doctor does not erase your cm7/9 partition. It fixes the hp webos partion and sets it back up to what it auto saved. You just have to run the acme installer to get cwm and moboot back. even if you install android agian, if you don't wipe all your data should be there. That's what happened when I did it.
can't get into usb mode
I noticed that my hp touchpad was shutting down while in standby. I immediately thought it was a autoupgrade and so when it booted up and started installing the new webos I panicked and hit the power and home buttons to prevent the upgrade because I have CM7 alpha 3.5.
When I booted it up again I could only see a battery icon with a question mark in the middle. I can't make my win7 pc recognize the tablet and nor does the hp doctor for the same reason.
Does anyone have a clue how I can fix this? I know that some people in the past had this same issue that was caused by faulty usb cable or not having the battery correctly inserted (for other webos devices) but this is not the case. Just before I canceled the upgrade I had 20% battery and I had it plugged in and charging.
Thanks.

[Q]PLEASE HELP!? Kindle Fire BRICK ISSUES!!

Hello all! Today I have been having a tough day with technology SMH! But anyways I have been looking at every single post on this website and looked on Google about my problem and I can not fix it AT ALL! I'm really new to this hacking rooting stuff. I just bought a kindle fire just last week and I decided to put android 4.0 just last week and I had no problem with doing that what so ever. It was very simple and easy. But for some really I went back to the stock OS and deleted the android 4.0 files off my Fire. But today, I wanted to do it again but this time from a different website. The file was called MIUI.us_blaze_4.0.3-2.2.3-alpha_0xD34D FYI. I thought these files all do the same thing and stuff. Like I said, I am new to this. Never used an android device a day in my life. (Team IOS lol) Back to my problem. So I did the regular on TWRP. I Backed up my data, cleared the Factory Setting, then I went to flash the Zip file I had. After it was done installing or whatever, this is when everything happened. I rebooted my kindle like always, But this time the yellow triangle was on the screen for about 10 min. So I held the power button for 20 and maybe thought it just needed to reboot again. Well, I sat and waited for about 5 min once again and nothing happened at all. I tried to connect my Kindle to my Laptop but it makes the donkdonk noise once like it connected. But then it makes the same noise again but it disconnects. Also, with the KFU (Kindle Fire Utility) it says device is not connected or whatever it says. So, I have been reading online that I need to go into Device manager and do some stuff. But when I go into Device Manager. I see my Kindle for 5 secs when I first plug it into my pc but then it disconnects. I can not believe that I did this. So can anyone please help me out before I do something else stupid to it,it would mean a lot to me! I will take ANY advise right about now! Thank you!
I did the same thing
The file you downloaded was bad i downloaded the same file , I fixed it by running KF utility and reinstalling TWRP , when it tells you to plug in or device not found turn off device plug in usb and push power until turns orange or green forget which one after that it will recognize the device , this worked for me i hope i helped you

[Q] Rooted Nook Tablet CWM internal reflash android

I used the XDA guide on my Nook Tablet 16gb 1.4.0 to have dual boot of Nook running and Android running at the same time(double touch N key to reach home screen os). It worked amazing for about a year and now my nook will only charge with power off, or turns itself off once plugged in. The CWM v5.5.0.4 that I installed internally still works, I factory reset and it boots normal now but still has charging problem (probably due to excessive use on my part).
Can someone please give me link to zip file to just re-flash the android system back on using the CWM internal?
I can bring up the CWM screen easy and it still recognizes the SD card I used. Also the android OS given at the time you made would be great or one better that you all recommend. Thank You XDA big time, it took me two weeks to properly follow all steps with clean install, and it worked better than I hoped, and loving games like DeadTrigger and EA HotPursuit both looked amazing. Also original Nook cable causes boot loop but standard android cable that came with my galaxy will charge but no boot loop, but it will only stay off while charging..=(
Found it myself

[Q] Removing Safestrap via Terminal Command?

Hi everyone,
i have a rooted Kindle Fire HDX 7" which is kind of softbricked. Maybe even hardbricked but my knowledge doesnt reach that far to determine.
Here's the thing. I already got in touch with Amazon, they checked my Amazon Account and were pleased to send me a new Kindle since i still got warranty on it.
Okay so far so good.
But here comes the real deal.
I'm pretty sure my warranty doesnt really cover the whole root -> brick story.
I told the Lady that after a factory reset the Tablet keeps trying to start the Setup over and over again. Which is indeed the case. I did not mention anything else.
So. My plan was, since i'm still able to go into safestrap recovery, to delete everything that could point out that the Tablet was rooted. Atleast on the first view.
TL.DR:
Is it possible to delete Safestrap/TWRP via the Terminal Command?
I know you can browse through the Tablet, but i couldnt find where the Folders are located.
Even if the Tablet doesnt Boot at all after deletion, i wouldnt mind.
Cause then i could still keep my new Tablet and hope they cant find anything on the broken one.
Hope anyone can help me.
If it is hard to understand what i meant i can give you further informations.
It's kind a hard for me to describe such technical things in a foreign language.
If you can access safestap, you can unbrick your device mate.
Well i kind of tried everything possible.
It's not on topic but i can describe what i did, maybe it helps other to not do the same mistake.
I had my Kindle rooted on 13.3.2.4 with the HDX Toolkit.
Everything worked fine since one day the Google Store stopped working.
Well at that time i wasnt using the Tablet on a daily basis so i didnt mind much and got a little off touch with the whole rooting thing, and the do's and dont's.
Then after a couple of weeks i got a bit frustrated over the fact that the integrated Prime Video Streaming is so out of date, that you cant even watch movies USK18 or switch languages within the Movie.
So i decided to use the Kindle as it was meant to by amazon and remove everything.
I really shouldve read more about the prodecure, i know that now.
But here's what i did:
1. Wiped and Removed my non-StockROM
2. Booted on StockROM and did a Factory Reset
3. Sh#t got weird so i went into recovery and wiped the StockROM aswell
4. Now i can still go into Recovery, but when i try to Boot i kind of dont have a FIrmware installed. It trys to re-do the Setup where you have to choose ur language over and over again.
So by now i already know what i should've done instead.
But at this point; my Kindle doesnt get recognized by my PC nor by ADB.
And i dont know what i can do with the Safestrap Recovery at the beginning.
So far, any more ideas?
Should i still try to unbrick it or just wipe my fingerprints off of it and hope i can keep the new one.

So you can open safestap ? If you can, then try ADB on a Linux/Mac machine. It will work. Windows has a problem with the drivers. Also I am not sure about this, but if you access the stock kindle recovery and do a factory reset from there, you might wipe safestap.

Problem with tablet Ainol novo 10 hero II (V1, LG screen)

Hello,
I wish I could explain my problem quickly and clearly, but I lost count on the amount of times I wiped, flashed and reset my Tablet so... I just hope someone comes up with a genius idea, because I'm desperate. I've tried everything.
Today I decided I wanted to try and find a better ROM I could install on my Ainol Tablet, and after doing some research I found out there was a 10.1 version of Cyanogenmod that was apparently quite popular.
I followed a tutorial I found on slatedroid.com (Flashed CM 10.1, Gapps and compatibility file) and only after I found out I just flashed a ROM built for the previous model of my tablet. When I reset it it came up as if it had done a Factory reset (same firmware but everything came up in chinese).
Then I went on and managed to find a tutorial for mine; repeated the process.
Right after doing that I re-read the tutorial (I would love to attach the link but I am a new user and am not allowed to...) and realised I was supposed to update my stock firmware to the latest version before flashing CM on it (apparently so they had the same kernel). Luckily, I had made a backup with TWRP so I went back to it and went looking on my PC for said firmware.
When I managed to find it, I realised the wifi on my tablet was gone. Whenever I switch it on, it goes back off after a few seconds. So no internet.
Then I thought I could just get that update file from my PC and copy it through USB. But that wasn't working either, my laptop will not recognise it whenever I plug it. The tablet won't even recognise a USB flashdrive.
Lastly, I realised there was a miniSD card port so I tried getting the file in through that as well. In this case, the tablet displayed a "preparing SD card" message but nothing happened afterwards...
I'm completely stuck. I have tried several times going back to Factory settings through TWRP, or reloading that backup I made, erasing Dalvik/Cache every single time, but the problems are still there. Everything else seems to be working though...
I did some research and it does look like I flashed a ROM with the wrong kernel so all the drivers are gone... (When the tablet is off and charging it displays a battery that used to stand vertically. Now it comes up horizontally...).
If that was the case, would anyone have any clue on anything I could do to fix it? Any files I could get rid of? Or maybe some secret menu on TWRP I haven't taken into account...?
Any ideas would be extremely appreciated. Please help! :'(
Thanks in advance.
