I have an LG L9 P760, with JB 4.1.2, V20C
I've seen a couple of threads about rooting it, i just don't know which one to use...it's my first android phone and I'm afraid of bricking it..
Also interested in being able to use the external SD for APP DATA, can't even install Real Racing :/
For rooting JB there is only method-Lelus method, and our phone is unbrickable. For swapping memories check threads. Before creating new thread please search the forum, your answers are already answered somewhere.
No hard feelings, its to maintain forum clean.

Hi,
I have searched the forums here and not got a clear answer so this is the reason for my post.
Lets say, "my friend" has a Android phone that has official ICS in it but has yet to be released to the public. If this friend was to share it with another friend how might he go about extracting the ROM including the radio file so that it could be flashed to another device?
I see that Jade kitchen is talked about quite a bit but not a simple process and from what I can see it might not copy the radio file.
Any help would be great.
Hehehe not sure if this will work but I'm interested to see. How about the friend with the ics root it and cmw, then make a backup, make sure its in the SD card. Then restore it on the other phone by switching cards? Just an idea from a noob

Read patiently before attempting anything.
Else every chance you ll brick the phone.
And dont expect help across different forums, say if you start considering X forums' methods and later on be asking help over a different one.
Please search and read before making threads. Thread locked
This might be the most noobish question of all noob questions but i have to ask since i can not find real information about it somehow. I have been doubting to ask it but will do anyway. So here it goes:
I want to root my telephone and been reading into it. Everywhere i find guides on how to root and flash custom roms. But (here it comes) : Is it needed to install a custom rom or is it possible to just root without installing said custom roms? I just want to take use of for example titanium back up apps.
I would be very greatfull for the answer on this question as it has been bugging me over the last week during my research on the topic.
Friendly greetings from Sweden

Lock down is coming.....
If you haven't been able to find your answers it's mean that you haven't done your research properly.
Yes, you can just root your phone. Custom ROM or Recovery is an addition.

You can just root without installing a custom rom. Same goes with the custom recovery.

As Cool said above, you can Root and install a custom recovery if you wish, without installing a custom ROM. I Rooted mine within minutes of getting it home, but waited for about 2 weeks before I installed any custom ROMs on it. Sometimes it is better to get the feel first and then take the leap.
Moved to Q&A
Thanks for the answers. It is just all a little much information to understand it all at once. I'm sorry i posted in the wrong section, i thouht i posted right but sausage fingers. Going to give it a go today!

QUESTION 1: Is there a JellyBean update available for the P768 Middle East?
ANSWER: Yes, there is an OTA update available, however if you can get ahold of the KDZ and offline flash, that will be easier.
QUESTION 2: How much memory of internal SD card storage is there?
ANSWER: There are 2 GB available, and with root you can uninstall bloatware to maximize that. There is only one "block." Data and apps are stored on the same memory, however, if you have an EXTERNAL SD card inserted your photos and music will try to be stored to that directory if that's where you specified it.
QUESTION 3: Can you move apps to EXTERNAL SD card after official Jelly Bean Update?
ANSWER: No, sadly. Well, technically yes. Somewhat. You need root, and even with only root it's glitchy. Your best bet is to root, unlock bootloader, flash CWM/TWRP recovery, and get ahold of CyanogenMod or a similar ROM. Then you should have your entire Android capabilities at your fingertips, packed in with timely updates.
I believe the p768 version has move to SD card enabled.

For problems with Odin flashing, you need Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General. Covers every possible scenario in these situations.
For root, you need PhilZ. Search for the thread. If you find the instructions 'difficult', don't attempt anything until you understand what it is you're trying to do. You risk breaking your phone if you ignore this. I've never seen a guide/tutorial on here that was 'difficult' (people who find them difficult often don't have a handle on 'the basics'; refer to my last para).
For flashing custom roms, you need to simply follow the flashing instructions which are always simple & always on the first page of the thread devoted to every rom.
Guides/tutorials stickied near the top of General are a fantastic grounding in what makes this phone tick if you're serious about learning this stuff (99.99% of people who come here aren't though).
I saw a thread on philZ i read there that i can just flash the kernel to obtain root?
And i will look in to all youur pointers thank you
Edit.
Most roms OP state.... Just flash in cwm
Sent from my HUAWEI P6-U06 using XDA Free mobile app
Yep. Read the PhilZ thread so you can work out which kernel you need, flash the kernel & you get a rooted phone + CWM. And yeah, pretty much every rom flash is put the files on your internal or external SD card, boot into CWRecovery, navigate to files, flash. Done.
One small thing to be aware of, newer 'KK based roms' tend to require newer versions of CWM in order to flash, so make sure you read the threads devoted to those especially thoroughly if you decide to flash them.
Yeah i kow that from my xperia z, the newer cwm is needed foot kk .
And what about the bootloader do i need to unlock it?
Im sorry for all the questions its been a while since i flashed a sammy

My thought: You say you have 4.2.2, are you sure it is a 9100 and not the sgs2+. Different hardware .

Bootloader is not locked, no need to touch it, read the guides/tutorials & you'll learn this stuff - no more answers to basic questions you can easily find answers to.
