Creating nandroid backup - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Quick question guys, I'm unlock, rooted, and install custom cmw touch recovery but when I created a backup it will complete but just hang there. I had to hold power and volume down to reboot the recovery and seems like the backup is created.
Do you think the backup is good?
Ive always flashed custom roms with all my devices but never experienced something like this on my HTC ONE.
Please let me know. Thanks

[Q] still a newb

this nandroid backup every talks about, is it a app or something else? sorry for the dumb questions just trying to get back into this stuff....
A nandroid is a backup of your system. It can be done via an application called rom manager in the market or via clock work recovery.

Its worth noting that you have to be rooted with s-off to do a nandroid backup, and that for Rom Manager to work you have to flash Clockwork mod recovery. I would also advise just booting into Clockwork Mod Recovery to perform backups, restores, flashing .zips, etc....Rom Manager has a bad history of causing trouble for one reason or another.

Unable to make backups using ROM Manager or CWM

I'm not sure if this is a known issue, but I'm completely unable to back up roms. I've tried with both ROM manager and manually doing it in Clockwork Mod Touch without any success. So now I'm just stuck with making Titanium backups of all my apps and starting everything else from scratch.
Also, if I restore a recovery, do I still have to reflash the kernel?
I'm a bit of a noob, so be gentle lol.
Loving my rezound and all the roms, just tired of having to start over every time!

Ya. Don't use clockwork. It does not work well for us right now. The best recovery for rezound is amon RA recovery. It does backups and restore just fine

Yeah, use Amon Ra. Also read the forums and take notes before you do much more to your phone. Then search. Cuz this particular issue probably has 10 threads already.
You should only have to worry about kernels when you change ROMs. Always flash the appropriate kernel when changing roms.

Nandroid backup and restore with Amon-ra

I am used to making backups and restoring with CWR on my EVO but now that I have the Rezound and CWR does not work, I make Nandroid backups with Amon-ra but am not able to restore them. I read somewhere that some things need to checked while on recovery mode but I am not sure what. What do I need to do to make a proper Nandroid Backup? And also do I need to flash anything else after I restore a backup?
If restoring an ics build coming from ics(or gb to gb) no additional flashing should be needed. Should only be needing to backup system data cache and boot. If you do s-off exploit, you can restore boot.IMG directly through the nandroid.

Go to this thread and download the file

I know for sure it works with amon ra. Flash it in recovery, I think it boots automatically afterwards into bootloader, flash the image, reboot and it will go back into recovery on its own then flash your nandroid. Then all should be well. Just flashing nandroid will not allow the phone to boot

I've restored several times through Amon Ra backups. I back up the usual stuff and the Android secure file. So far no problems at all.
I recieved my CLNR from verizon yesterday. Made a nandroid last night.
Today I have unlocked, rooted and now I am trying to restore my nandroid.
This is what it looks like:
x boot
x system
x data
x cache
recovery
sd-ext
x android_secure
android_secure_internalsd
perform restore
return
I hit perform restore and this is what happens
oops....something went wrong. Please check the recovery log!
What does that mean and where do I go from here?
Thanks

Same here. I switched to TWRP and no issues thus far.
Do any of you guys have the recovery log you could post. Might shed some light on the issue.

Thanks for TWRP! LOVE IT!

[Q] TWR or CWM?

First off I love XDA!!! you guys have always had the right info just when i need it! <3
Now, back to my question. I am now the proud owner of a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and so far love the phone, having traded it for a DNA. The previous owner has already rooted and unlocked the bootloader, as well as flashed TWR. Well in the past i have only used Clockwork and honestly think i would rather stick with that.
I have CWM's Rom manager Pro installed currently and am curious to know if it is as simple as installing CWM from there? If not what steps will i need to take?
Or can anyone tell me if it is worth putting CWM on my note 2? will TWR work just as well?
Thanks
I also used to always use CWMR, but when the Note 2 first came out there were some issues with it not supporting exFAT 64 GB external cards so I switched to TWRP then and haven't looked back. I prefer TWRP now as it seems more flexible but its largely personal preference, they both get the job done.
Haven't had any problems with twrp so I see no need to switch

Is it just as simple to use as CWMR?

Just try it lol you could always switch back

In my experience, TWRP is easier to use than CWM, and the convenience added by the ability able to queue up multiple files right from recovery and the presence of an file manager in recovery cannot be overstated.
That is exactly what I did.
I just flashed clockwork from inside the rom manager. The latest version is 6.0.2.5 I believe.
Like you, I prefer CWM... so you are not alone

Which recovery

Which recovery do you prefer and why?
I use cmw but only as that's what I've always used from my desire hd years and through my one x years.
Many thanks

Hm I was using TWRP but I ran into some trouble flashing some roms and then switched to Philz's Touch CWM, and its awesome. It also have OpenScript support, so I can flash using GooManager like with TWRP. So far its been great. Only features I miss from TWRP is the slide to confirm and the "lock" feature that they implemented the last update.

Personally prefer Goomanager and the TWRP recovery script that comes with it
Goomanager
Have a look at this thread with the recovery screen clips
Everyone has their personal choice though
Using TWRP for backup and restore, Phliz for flash

CWM/CWM touch is good for beginners Easy to install using ROM manager and does its job, however in a minute you will be probably looking more functionality and flash TWRP.
CWM.......simple, does what it says on the tin, can't see any need for many extra functions

I agree! CWM! Used the 4ext recovery for some while, but went back to CWM...
Any recovery but i would recommend CWM easy to use and plain. Don't use CWM touch iit has reported a load of problems when trying to restore backups (unable to restore /data) and you might have to start from scratch.
Sv: Which recovery
CWM Touch FTW!
