HTC Media Link + PC Video Streaming? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Is it possible to stream video content from my PC to my HTC Media Link? I've heard it's possible, but I'm not sure how go about doing it. It would be great if it can.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think so, if the media link is on the network than it has an IP address..
When it's online, you should be able to see what the IP address is thru your router login, or it may even show up in windows media player under "play to"

How do you change the wireless router on the Media Link? I find that the Media Link is on its own wireless network (a direct connection to the HTC ONE).

Anyone using ORB?

I've got ORB installed on my home computer and the ORB Live app on my handset. So far I'm able to use my handset to connect to my home PC, view the contents, and stream audio. The problem is that I cannot stream video whatsoever. When trying to stream videos, live tv, or my webcam the handset sits there connecting, but nothing ever streams. Eventually I'll usually get the "failed to stream" message on my handset.
Anyone else using ORB? I'm wondering if I'm suffering from a bandwidth issue, or if my carrier, Mobilicity, is blocking something on their end.
Which browser are you using, stock android or third party from the market?

Stock browser, but the client on the handset is an app called OrbLive.
Screw ORB, go with Plex. It works flawless but it lacks the the ability to stream live tv at the moment

I've been using orb for years on my mobile devices. The ports can not be blocked, not sure which ones orb uses but make sure your router has permissions for the right ones. I did buy the orb app for android and it works good too.
The port blocking may be at your home end or it may be your provider. If it's your provider, check for alternate apn's that may have more access.

I used to use orb, haven't for a while but when I did I just logged in through Skyfire. Not as convenient as an app I suppose but I just saved as a favorite. Never had any issues using it that way

Tried Skyfire, didn't work for me. Android mode just constantly kicks me back to login page, can't access anything. Desktop and default mode puts me in a login loop between http and https and eventually throws an error. Tried Androrb too, no good, nothing streams at all.
Got no port blocking going on at all over here atm, just a direct line from the PC to the intarweb, with nothing but windows firewall in between.
Downloading Plex at the moment, will give it a try, but streaming from my tv tuner would be really nice. I'll take what I can get though I guess. I'll let ya know how plex works out for me.
Well, got plex and my handset refuses to connect to the plex media server. *sigh*

yeah, setting up orb was a pain, kind of hit or miss, to get video to work, but once it does work, its pretty good
check the badly organized orb website and their just as badly put together forum
there are some pointers there that, like me, just might get you to get it working
to be honest, it seemed like i did everything i could, it wasnt working, i uninstalled/reinstalled everything, and then it was working
weird stuff
I have been using ORB for a long time (from Windows Mobile) and it's a very easy way to have access to music, photos, tv, videos and documents... The problem is that the OrbLive app does not work with 2.3 and no update has been made to the app...

Evo 3D DLNA to XBox

I understand the "Connected Media" app lets you play video from your phone to DLNA-compatible devices. I also learned that the Xbox 360 should be DLAN compatible.
I spent some time fiddling with it but I couldn't get Connected Media to show my Xbox -or- get my phone to show up on the xbox. I'm a little unclear on how this is supposed to work. Has anyone done this? Would you mind giving me a step by step? Is there something I need to enable on the xbox end or something else I may have missed?
Thanks
Use the media share app, not connectededoa app. I use it on my xbox everyday. Both phone and xbox.must be connected to same network. On media share app, check the share button then select which folders from your SD card to share on your xbox. It will work, if not, must be some firewall issues on your home network.

Just take your EVO3D, plug it up through usb, select disk drive from the notification bar then you could listen to music & watch videos without any app.
My ''xDU4L C0R3 SH00T3Rx'' shot you down in 3D!
Thank you both for your suggestions - the media share app works great and I'll try out the USB share thing.
One thing, the media share app doesn't show all the directories (such as DCIM) as available to share. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi,
My eve 3d can detect my TV just fine but i can't seem to get it to find the xbox360. Is there anything that i need to do on the 360 to enable DLNA besides being on the same wifi? The media share app you're talking about is IMS correct?
Thank you
I have the same issue. My phone finds my Sony Bravia TV and can send media to it, but does not find my PS3. I used the media server. Worked wonderfully. Although I'm sure with some quick searching I could find the answer. Just wanted to say I experience the same thing.

streaming nas media

Hey guys i was wondering what is the best app out there that will allow me to stream my movies and tv shows from my nas to my tab while im away from home. I know how to do port forwarding just cant find a app that will stream the media
Plex works really well! It converts on the fly if you have a PC next to your nas. Quality on your LAN is great! Quality on the WAN is so so but it works!
Thanks for the reply i have plex installed but it doesnt work outside of my home network on my tab. It works fine on my phone but not on my tab ( my tab is tethered to my phone to access the internet when im not home)
TVersity allows you to stream outside of your network. Quality is much better than on Orb or some of the others.
what app do you use for tversity i checked the market and nothing came up

I don't use an app. usually. I do it straight from the browser. You can enter an http address and pull up files or a flash file.
Alternatives are Vplayer, the Toshiba Media Player app available on XDA (works the best actually) and um..... one other one I forget. You just install TVersity on your PC and let it scan wherever your media is installed. Whether it be on your puter or an external.
I use J.River Media Center, the app is called "Gizmo" (just search in the market).
I'm able to control all my music in different rooms, workplace etc over the pad. Or stream it to the pad itself.

I use Plex over 3G on my Wi-Fi Tab tethered to my phone. I'm tethering via Wi-Fi, not USB. I have to store the remote IP address for the server Plex is running on in order for the app on the Tab to find it.
yeah i have my remote ip address saved and im teathered via wireless as well and i dont get a connection. My phone has the same remote ip address as well and it connects just fine. Ive also tried connecting to my vpn teathered and that doesnt work either, but my phone can connect without any problems
I have a QNAP 212 NAS and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Tried Tversity/uPnP and the rest but all I got was jerky playback over wifi.
Solution was long winded but now I can stream anything stutter free
1. Map NAS drives to PC (Windows 7 cannot index NAS so use this workaround)

2. Install Qloud
3. Stream at 2048mbps
4. Funmouth
thanks for the reply works like a charm
no worries

[Q] playing music from windows share on android device

I have a bunch of mp3s on a windows PC shared over wifi LAN.
I want to use a old android device to plug into speakers in another room and access the shared files, search/filter and queue, play songs on the phone.
POssible? Any suggestions on the best way to do this?
I know I could run a shoutcast server and just queue up songs on the pc but I would love to be able to use some sort of app that can scan all the shares and create a database that can be easily filtered/searched on the phone
Thank you =)

Es file explorer. I use it sometimes to play music from my pc and also a dlna hard drive. Its free and easy to use, you will need to enter your windows user name and password the first time you access a windows pc though.

i'm not familar with how the ip4/bionic performs wifi music sync. the method i've been using, which has worked very well, is to use google music. there is a music manager application for windows/mac/linux which allows you to upload all your mp3/music files to the "cloud" and linked with your google account. once they're uploaded, you can download from any device with a web browser/internet connection or thru google music app/internet connection.
hope that helps!
Well with the ip4 when you charge at night it would sync with your Itunes via WiFi that your pc or mac is connected to stop if I bought music apps etc on my phone it would put them on my pc and of I got them on my pc or mac it would put them on my phone it was realy convenient . Stop I figured ics would have that feature out of the box
