Slow to wake - help! - Nokia Lumia 920

Hi all, just noticed this the other day and did a side by side comparison with another 920, and it takes about 1 second longer for screen to come on when I hit the wake button!! I do have many more apps installed, could this be the issue? Any other things I can try? Thanks!!!

You probably have an app or two that load in the background when the device wakes. Really though one second? Is that really going to make such an impact on your life?
If it does then just uninstall all the apps then install them one by one and see which one is slowing your phone down by one second.:silly:

Screen responsiveness slowdown

Hey everyone. It seems about every other day or so, my screen responsiveness seems to lag quite severely. Instead of just tapping on the screen, I find I have to give the screen a firm press in order for it to sense the input. If i reboot the phone, everything is back to normal.
Just curious if anyone else is having this issue.

Home button delay?

Hi All,
Just got the sgs2 yesturday and so far its brilliant. However I have a delay when pressing the home button. There is no delay anywhere else but what ever I am doing and I press the home button from any app its takes about 2 secs which seems to be a long time.
any one else experience this?

I think this is a bug. I myself have this problem too. Also had it on older firmwares
Me to hopefully a bug as it does get on me nerves abit
Yep, me three!
Winds me up when I want to unlock the phone. Stupid bug for an otherwise very fast phone.

The reason it's delaying it, is because it's waiting if you are going to press it a second time to activate voice control. If someone can work out how to disable the double press voice control, it should remove the delay.

Agreed. Freezing voice input will prevent the app running, but not the delay.

Agreed. I'm getting my phone hopefully in a few days. But I never used voice commands as I'm not a native english speaker. I noticed this with the SGSII I tried in a store. It would be cool if there was a fix for this so the home button reacts instantly.
+1
I'd really like to see a fix for this... I don't need the voice app either.
Mine's not doing it. It's maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 second slower than launching an app with the screen. It's instantaneous when waking the phone. It's so slight I wouldn't have noticed it until you pointed it out and I checked. I'm on KE2. Did you guys go directly from the shipped ROM to KE2 without KE1 in the middle? I did, maybe that's the reason.

Everyone's doing it. If you make a button that can react to a double-press it isn't possible to make it react instantly on just one button press. The phone can't know that you are not going to press the button a second time.
I played with it again, the screen is definitely going from calculator, Rhapsody, and the browser to the home screen fully displayed in about a 1/2 second. I get what you're saying about the double-press, but a 1/2 second seems livable to me. Someone said "two seconds" which would drive me crazy too. So the question is, is it a 1/2 second or two seconds? If it's the latter some phones are behaving differently than others.
Yeah, it isn't 2 seconds, I'd say it's a little bit more than 0.5 seconds. But even with 0.5 seconds it feels too long for me.
I've had a HTC Desire before the SGSII and the Home Button was instant on there so that's why it's really annoying to me.
Hi,
My came phone with the latest rom. Its about 1.5 secs but iy does feel long especially when everyghing else is so fast.
If its possible I dont mind disabling the double press option for voice cammands if it can make the one press action faster.
Someone posted 1/5 secs, if that was the case then I didn't mind either, however this is not the case with my phone.

I get roughly a 1 second delay, my phone came with KE1 stock.
No reboot in 27 hours and home button varies randomly from 0.5 to 2 seconds.
mine is pretty much always 2 seconds on KE7. It feels like an eternity comparing to everything else on the phone which is instant. I hope a fix for this will come soon, 2 seconds might not sound like a long time waiting but overtime its very much irritating.

Mine is now on about 5-6 seconds and driving me crazy. Could it be due to a widget?
Don't know if this might give anyone any clues, but it's not just to do with pressing the home button. Mine does exactly the same when I go from an app to the home screen by pressing the back button.
Mine was doing it too (around 4 seconds!) untill a restart yesterday fixed it... for now.
Anyone got any hope on this?
This seems to be the biggest problem for me

[Q] SK17i: some instances of unresponsive back button - who had this?

Hi guys,
the previous days, I've been having a weird problem where sometimes, the back button would be less responsive for some time.
Since I've never experienced this before, and couldn't find relevant information on this forum about this, I thought I'd ask if anyone else has experienced it.
It took me several tries to activate the 'back' capacitative button, and in a couple of instances I just mashed the 'home' button to get out of there instead.
Now whether this was due to high processor usage or malfunctioning hardware is hard to say... BetterBatteryStats didn't show anything weird even though the previous couple days battery duration was slightly less than expected.
I didn't install any new software, just some updates of existing programs.
So, questions:
- for those who know about the hardware of cap. buttons: what could this problem be due to?
- has anyone experienced the same? If so, what did you do?
thanks
Yes I have had this same problem with it, because i gave my phone for service, whenever i got it back its working perfect.Man who was serviceing it said there was some dirt inside like metal filings so he just clean it.
hey bro check this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272663 same problem although different situations. hope it helps!

I have an unresponsive menu button. it has always been like this but I don't really mind it. a problem with the back button would be much more annoying though.

[Q] Get a slight delay in lock screen appearing when pressing the power button?

Sometimes when I press the power button to unlock the phone, the lock screen pops up instantly, but other times it can take 1-2 seconds for it to pop up.
Does anyone else get this? Does anyone know what causes it? It's a minor irritation, but it's the only flaw I have with this phone so it would be nice if there was a way to fix it.
Thanks.
This also irritates me extremely much!
Quite often I'm unsure if I clicked the powerbutton "enough", so I click again. Then what happens is that the screen turns on and then back off again for me to click a 3rd time.
At least it's not just me then! Hopefully it will be fixed via a software update at some point.
This is well known it occurs when the CPU enters deep sleep. The same thing occured on the S2. From what I have gathered it is the way Samsung Design there CPU's. It was never fixed really on the S2 there was workarounds but no definite fix.
Thanks
Ricey
Thanks for the info! I won't hold out on a fix then, but it's not the end of the world.
yep i have noticed that too.
when you use home menu to turn on screen the delay is slight.
but when you use the power button to turn on the screen the delay is a bit longer compared to using homescreen.
btw, i turned off svoice for home button.
"It is a feature!"
Seriously, it is normal because the phone throttles down its monster quad-core. Trust me guys, you do not want QC at full speed all the time
Pretty sure it is just the samsung rom. same thing with stock samsung roms on my old galaxy s, flash cm9 or aokp and it fixed it.
Flashing those 2 on my device stops the delay and it is almost instantaneous, try jellybean and it IS instantaneous, can't wait for a proper port of that in a few months time... by then I should be sick of samsungs rom and looking for a change anyway. The only problem is that samsung actually did an awesome job this time and i prefer it over stock android. Just the subtle things such as being able to pull down my notification bar in fullscreen games and all the motion control things Its a hard one for me to choose what i want

[Q] Touchscreen unresponsive stripe - digitizer problem?

My Atrix's screen has become unresponsive in a vertical column (if the phone is in portrait mode) that lines up about with the W, E, and S keys. Restarting fixed the problem for maybe 20 seconds or so after the phone became usable, but doesn't seem to have made a difference after about the third time or so. I also removed the battery and held down the power button for ~45 seconds and then put everything back together, which also seemed to have helped for a minute or less before the stripe became unresponsive again. I also restored to yesterday's backup a couple different times (CM 7.2 stable), which also temporarily helped.
So after a brief search, it seems that the digitizer may be the issue. Is there any way to tell for sure? At first it seemed like a software problem, but it could also just be the digitizer acting erratically because it's going out, so I'm not really sure, and I'd rather not attempt a repair that may not be necessary.

there are some screen tester apps on Play which you could use to see if, in fact, your digitizer is a problem.

Do you have any specific recommendations? I downloaded the touch test app from here (http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/app/touch-test) to see how much of the screen was misbehaving and discovered that it was a perfect stripe the whole way down, but because I'm not terribly knowledgeable about troubleshooting phone hardware, I don't know if that's telling me it's the digitizer or something else. I attached a screenshot that shows where the stripe is.

From what I've seen on here it does look like your digitizer is at fault. I have never had to change mine but there are plenty of posters on here who have and you can look at their experiences to assist you. Also, here's a video I found so you can see what you'll have to do. Good Luck!
