They're talking about the The First phone, NOT the HTC One phone. Anyways, FB Home sucks...

Not suprising. It seemed very gimmicky to begin with as a program let aline develop an entire device around it haha. They will prolly reprogram the hardware and remarket the device at some point.

Maybe they should have let fb home sink in and see that flop before designing a device for it. Crappy launcher on a phone with 2yr old hw tisk tisk tisk..

Facebook Home sucks so hard, I am not surprised HTC First became a flop.
I see no reason why this thread is in HTC One's sub-forum.

Sad because the first wasn't a bad in phone in it's own right. I mean it did have stock android on it underneath that crap facebook home launcher. I believe its the 3rd time they tried a facebook esque phone and each time it flopped. I want to know why HTC keeps even bothering with facebook.

Latest update pretty much also guarantees them access to all your contacts list. No longer is the application separate from your personal contacts and private info on your smartphone but now seem to automatically sync together whether you like it or not.

[Q] No data/full bars/cover on/wtf

Hi,
So as the title states i have 0 data [3G/LTE]..
Background:
This afternoon my rezound went dead and wouldn't charge.
So after 6 hours on the charger and no turning on my girlfriend came home with her rezound. i popped the battery in and it started right up except it wouldnt boot all of the way.
After a few tries i wiped and tried again. Still no go. So i wiped and went to flash a backup and sdcard wouldnt mount. After a few unsuccessful tries on device and computer i pressed reformat. That got the SD working.
I downloaded a few roms both ICS and GB wiped and installed. None will provide me mobile data. It sees wifi networks just fine.
My girlfriend has both LTE and 3G and i have full cell bars.
WTF!?

Well this sounds to me like a phone specific problem. I've heard of people's batteries going dead and not charging again, but I've never heard of no data before. If I were you I'd take it back to verzion. I heard they're offering people galaxy nexuses as replacement phones for people who have problems with their rezound!
Hope I helped!

IM not trolling I had a no data issue leaving work and was going to mention it. The only way I fixed it was a full reboot. Also after I rebooted I was stuck in cdma prl. Changed it to cdma/lte and it started working. The weird thing was it said data was on but no 1x 3g or 4g. Toggled everything and nothing helped cept the reboot.
Also atleast HTC doesn't make you wait for over a year for a barely updated version of the same thing and make you feel like you need it (Apple)

Wow. Well I'd just take it to a Verizon rep at one of their stores and see what they have to say because the battery problem is definitely a recurring problem with other rezound users. I don't know about the no data problem though. I've heard of people constantly dropping data, but I've never seen someone who doesn't have it at all.

Microsift's Smoked by Windows Phone seems to pick on the uneducated

So I saw the story this morning about someone being cheated out of the Smoked by Windows Phone challenge and what not... First time I heard about this marketing campaign actually so I looked at Microsoft's page for it which is lined with YouTube videos showing how it's faster than any other phone...
The first 2 videos (all i've looked at so far) are "let's see who can take a picture and upload it to facebook the fastest." Of course WP7 wins every time, but what I'm shocked at is their balls to make a dedicated camera button the selling point as if it's a new thing. "If I hold this dedicated camera button on the side, it opens the camera..." Yeah, I can do that too. Then he points out 1 button upload to Fb - swipe left to right on camera to show preview, tap to upload. Yeah, for us, tap preview, tap image to open share option. And everyone seems to be mesmerized by this crap they don't realize they already have! (ok, not everyone has the dedicated camera button)
You could argue that most people don't know how to use Android. Well... same could be said for any new device... They're just picking on those that don't know.
If you want to see for yourself...

Try holding it down -- phone should give you some haptic feedback and then open the camera.
Of course, on the 3D, you can just drag the camera icon into your unlock ring and achieve the same thing.
I just tried myself. Pressed the power button, dragged the camera icon into the unlock ring, snapped a pic, pressed the "Share" icon that appears during the short after-shot preview, and had I wanted to, I could've hit the Facebook option (I didn't ... who wants to see a pic of my monitor??). It took roughly 4 or 5 seconds, less if I were younger and could move faster

I did see that. I didn't wanna turn it into a discussion about that whole thing. I was amazed at how they're trying to spin their whole camera thing. Watching some more, yeah... there are some other things they're more efficient with. But it's still an ugly and uninteresting OS.

I knew someone would come in here blaming Sense's RAM management. The problem is, Chrome still reloaded all its tabs on my rooted OG EVO when I had it running ICS, and still does the same thing on my Xoom. It seems to be the way Google programmed the app, perhaps to save up on both CPU and GPU RAM. It is annoying, but you'll probably have to bring it up on Google Play or on their discussion boards.

Ok so maybe its coded into chrome. doesn't explain why it happens in the stock browser also or for any of the other apps that get closed as soon as you leave them. I can almost guarantee that tapatalk will reload as soon as I launch something else. It IS a problem with sense so it does deserve blame.

Oh I'm not saying there is no Sense memory issue. It's a pretty big problem for me with playing heavier games and then having to wait for Sense to reload when I go back to the homescreen. Also coming from using my Xoom it's a bit annoying having simpler apps restart on me just because I switched apps for more than half a minute. I'm just pointing out that Chrome seems to like doing that by itself too.

Yeah, if even that long. The funny thing is that the change is so simple (go find runandhides thread, he shows how he did it) that anyone that knows how to decompile/recompile an all can do it. Let alone HTC, it shouldn't have taken them this long.

No I must agree. You may be mistaken about what is broken with multitasking on our phones. The One X fix removes the black menu bar at bottom of screen in some apps & moves recent apps to a long press of the button. Our multitasking problem is Sense not storing the state of apps once we switch from one to another so that when we do switch or multitask back to original opened app it has to completely restart. This fix does nothing to help that and I don't see HTC releasing one anytime soon seeing as that is how they intended it to work, so from their pov it is working properly.

Have you guys even read the HTC ONE X update thread or did you just read the post the OP posted and see what it contained?

I know it has nothing to do with the menu button. Its a RAM issue, and its being reported as being fixed by multiple users.. Go read the thread.

The discussion regarding multitasking is HTC's "memory optimization". That means the HOX boots with more ram available, not multitasking being what it should be - multitasking.
I really like this phone. I can deal with a moderate task killer. I don't use the phone like I do a computer. All I ask for is a level of multitasking where I can browse the web, change an album or two, send a message, and return to browsing the web - seamlessly. There is clearly enough ram, let us use it.
Sent from my EVO
Unfortunately HTC's current next generation smart phone's have been a big flop. I'm sure this update will make the current user base happy, but it will definitely not attract new users. HTC has been to slow with its updates to fix current problems and unfortunately it took me to install CM10 to finally use multitasking the way it was meant to be. Htc better fix their problems quickly or they'll be the next Nokia.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. My ram percentage was always under 25 percent. Something was very off about that. That's the same percentage my Evo 4g gave off with the same apps installed. Sometimes my Evo 4g was better. Smh. Multitasking won't be updated by HTC until October I bet

Soooo...opinions on multitasking....

Ok so I had only ever owned Samsung phones...I had the HTC one x and I hated how aggressive the multitasking was....so got the one today and I'm still noticing the issue even with the extra gig of ram....like xda for instance if I leave it open and go back it'll refresh...same with the web...I don't know if it's my imagination but personally I don't see a difference..and I have maybe like 4 programs open....btw is there a taskmanager I can use to clear ram?

Ugh. Not going to lie, this post worries me. I made my purchase based on the fact that with such a big deal it was on the HOX I figured reviews would mention it this time if it was a problem and no one had. It's what made me jump to the S3 at the time.

So it seems that it only does this on internet connection apps right?
I know what your taking bout, this was the reason I took back the one x after a week and ended up with the S3. I did noticed it a bit when I played with the ONE at the store but not enough to not buy the phone.
I'm not an addict I just flash a lot.

Does anyone know if flashing a custom ROM on the one x took care of this issue?
I'm not an addict I just flash a lot.
I just flashed trickdroid....gunna try that out...I know on the one x vipers Rom helped...so maybe when more development comes along there will be better management...it's definitely better then the one x was tho the more I use it

I'm super excited for the phone but no matter how amazing the hardware if the software can't multitask properly I have to return it. I primarily read online and if my web pages keep reloading I'll just get annoyed.

If all else fails, you could setup the XPosed framework (requires Root) on your phone and use the App Settings module to force the browser to never close in the background (tick the Resident option I believe). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2072081

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind. I may not touch root or anything until my 15-30 days are up to return it though. I just remember how bad things were on the HOX. No matter the rom or tweak they could never get it fixed. It just drove me off the device eventually. Having a little pre-device buyers remorse at the moment but we'll see this afternoon! Thank you for the future reference though.

I myself am torn. This phone is so nice but oddly I'm not over excited about it for some reason....maybe I've stuck with Samsung's too long ...no but seriously the screen and speakers are phenomenal and sense 5 is very nice, tho I could do without the feed...does the buyers remorse start in the day of receiving the device correct?

So there is still no solution or workaround to gain true multitasking yet ? Surprised I havent heard anything about this in video reviews so far.

Well from what Ive read on the international forums people say the multitasking is good one this phone...like I've said I've only ever owned samsungs and this is my second attempt at an HTC phone...so my opinions may be biased so to speak...but from my experience multitasking on my gs3 worked much better then the htcs I've tried...again use it own opinions on it...I'm not knocking HTC at all...I like both companies...

So to you lucky bastards that already have the ONE what's the verdict on multitasking? Are the web apps still reloading when clicked on? This is the reason I took the ONE X back too
Flash much?
I think it only refreshes if it falls off the multitasking screen.
Never mind. It's as bad as the hox for browsing.

So u notice it too? Mines seems very selective...some times I can have xda open to a post...do something else...come back and it's fine...others it refreshes and bump me back to the main page...also (not sure if it's a Netflix thing) but if I pause a video and come back it'll return me to the main screen as well...is there a task manager where I can free up some ram?
I really want to love this phone it's so nice ....I hate to say it through not too crazy bout the camera quality....

This scares me about the phone. I was about to pick it up tomorrow but now I am second guessing myself. I really did hate the HOX multitasking. Where I work the Internet is slow, I don't want to have to wait for all the reloads.

Yeah. It's no where near the Galaxy S or Note lines. I don't really know why HTC cripples it to be honest. It's not bad, but it's not good. I mean, a lot of us don't swap out batteries. If HTC is going to cripple multitasking and memory management to improve battery life they should follow their own "studies" that most people don't use extra batteries and just keep it normal.
Yeah I'd rather have to charge it then have my phone refreshing all the time.

Well I either gotta deal the phone or sell it didn't realize I coukdnt bring it back to stock to return it once it was unlocked

Yeah I honestly am probably not going to root or unlock this one. I don't mind it stock to be honest. And it seems to cause more trouble than it's worth.
