GT-S5839I vold.fstab - Galaxy Ace S5830i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, first of all let me be sorry for my bad english.
So here is the deal,
I have one s5839i and like all samsung galaxy ace it have really little internal space. So I have the external sdcard and I would like to make it as internal.
Here is the original vold.fstab file:
## vold configuration file for the emulator/SDK
## This is the direct uevent device path to the SD slot on the device
#emu_media_path /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/bcm_sdhc.3/mmc_host/mmc1
What are the changes that I have to do?
Thank you so much in advance!

- Flash Rafael.Baugis Kernel via odin or cmw.
- Go to cwm, advanced, Partition SD Card, choose how much you will add to internal space und choose as swap 0 mb. Finish it and reboot
- go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955422 download "Data2sd-ext Fixed.zip" in attached files and put it on sd
- Go again to CWM, choose .zip from sd and install it.
- reboot and look at the taskmanager for you new internal memory.

Thanks for your post. I followed the instructions but when I check my internal memory it is still the tiny internal phone storage, not the partition.

Full wipe for flashing new rom

When changing to new ROMs, some require a 'full wipe'. What I'm wondering is when you do a full wipe in CWM, does it also wipe the external SD card? I'm never really sure if it will or not so I always take it out prior just to be safe. If I don't need to do that though that would be good
No unless you select wipe external sd card if the option is on CWM .

What is your Rom you used after you did the full wipe?
It requires time for the media scanner to scan all of your files on your external SD. It took me one time about 5 - 10 minutes until I saw my files on the file manager.

Hi
Let me be mo clear:
I used Super Wipe Full to erase everything because I was facing some problems on it.
I used a lot of rooms before.
Now I can just access CWM and when I try to install the room, it says: "no files found". I think is isnt reading the external sd.

1. Copy the Rom to internal SD.
2. Next time be very careful not to wipe your SD cards in CWM recovery

I think that you must use solid explorer to copy the rom.

[Q] Flash a custom ROM without SD Card ?

Hi, I was wondering if I can flash a custom ROM into my Galaxy S2 but without SD card
it's already rooted but the problem is that in every tutorial I read here I find that I must copy the zip file of the custom ROM to the SD Card
So if there's anyway to flash this custom ROM without the SD card it would be great
Thanks.
Any tutorial you're following is probably using sdcard to mean internal storage. There's no requirement for a physical, external micro sd card.
So if I followed the tutorial and copied the zip file to the internal storage will it be okay or what ? (excuse me but I'm new to this and kinda lost)
You can link a tutorial to be sure, but unless you're formatting the internal storage (/sdcard), there's no reason it won't work. I've not seen a tutorial requiring the format of /sdcard.
yes, it will work fine.
read and reread the instructions until you are comfortable with them.

should not be a problem, just boot into standard recovery mode and flash the zip from your internal memory
As said CWM installs from SD card internal not external add on sd card .

Author doesn't know what he's talking about. Use the MIUI site for support and installation instructions. Just because someone wrote instructions on a blog doesn't make them fact.
Thats MIUI and its BETA WARNING!!! USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Download your MIUI rom from the official english website
http://miuiandroid.com/
Connect your phone to PC and copy the zip file to your phone ( since you don't have an SD card you can't copy anywhere else anyway ).
Reboot to ClockworkMod Recovery and do a wipe data, wipe cache.
Go to advanced , wipe Dalvik cache , wipe battery stats.
Go back and choose install from zip from sd card , then choose "choose zip from sd card" , select your zip , confirm it once more and you're done. After its finished select reboot.
Okay thanks guys you're all awesome, I did it and its intalled just fine
I've took a backup using CWM, but now can I restore my contacts or apps ?

Apps you can only restore if you backed them up with titanium backup before flashing. Contacts, well... You should have those on your SIM card, or Google account if you used sync.

[Q]Partition SD-CARD?

Why is the partition od sd-card? Sorry for english
I guess you meant WHERE is that option or HOW to do it..
Anyway if you want to make a partition on your sd-card you may use clockworkmod recovery here.
go to recovery mode, go to advanced, go to partition SD card, select size. (this process will erase all the data you have in the sd-card).
You can find more explanations and other tips here: Link
______________
If you meant why do the partition process, the answer is because it allows you to move entire applications to your sd-card, keeping free your internal memory.
Thnks, i partitioned my sdcard but the apps are still in my phone :c

[Q]Partition my 8gb sd card...

Okay so i need step-by step tutorial to how to partition my 8gb sd card the internal of my galaxy ace is full only 1mb available and its pissing me off i cant install a single app due its full so i need help to partition it please help me i will be thankfull alot
Here's the general guide by xda.

You can also use clockwork to partition the SD card.
This is not my guide its taken from another site
Partitioning Your SD Card:
I did this a long time back, so I might have missed some things. If it doesn't work well for you, please leave a comment and I'll be glad to assist you.
1. Backup your SD card. This will erase your SD Card completely.
2. Reboot into recovery mode.
3. (Use Volume Up and Down to navigate and Middle button to select). Select the option Advanced
4. Select Partition SD Card.
5. Select the size you want, depending on your SD Card size(I use 2 GB, because I've a 16 GB SDHC Card)
6. Select the partition type as ext4.
7. You can set Swap to any size you want or you can ignore swap entirely, that's totally your choice(I've taken up Swap and set 256 MB to it)
8. Proceed with the current selections as it is. SD card will be formatted.
9. Then select Fix Permissions, to fix the permissions on mobile.(I don't really see any purpose for this, but it helped for me and it might be necessary)

[Q] In need of help..

Hello!
So, I have a "little big" problem over here.. I rooted my SGS3, so I could install new roms.. Until here, its all ok..
But then, i downloaded Android Revolution HD 2.1.0 and a script, from the same developer, to wipe stuff before flash the rom..
I've placed 2 rom zip files , 1 at the internal storage, and another at the SD card, just to make sure everything would be good. I flashed the wipe script, as the developer told to, at his thread.. And here comes the problem: The script wiped ALL the internal storage and i dont have access to the SD card via recovery.. Now my celphone is stuck at CWM or Download Mode.. i've PMed some developers and got some help, but i'm not really sure on what to do.. please help me if you can.. i need my phone back thanks!
Re root your s3 via tar file
Pc odin
That way u will get your cwm back
And take out ur sd card and place the rom zip file again in ur external sd..
And flash
I don't understand, why you don't have access to your external SD Card, is the option to flash from ext SD hidden?
(install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard)

Maybe pushing files using ADB ?
Connect phone with pc
Start adb
adb push romfile.zip /sdcard/romfile.zip
give it a try

Install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> nothing, only "Clockworkmod/", with a "backup/" inside.. but there is nothing inside the backup one.. D: and i'm sure the zip file is there.. i pushed it in there via PC, using the adaptor..
Oh, i also have a nandroid backup on my computer.. i made it with the SGS3 kit.. it has this files inside: " Boot(image), cache.ext4.zip, data.ext4.zip, nandroid.md5, recovery(image) and system.ext4
Are you sure, the script didn't format the extSD, too? Try to connect sdcard with adapter and copy rom file again
