S2E problems - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys every time i use s2e on dalvik and applications my phone becomes less stable it freezes all the time and mostly when im using mobile data and phone, i partitioned my 8Gb sd card to 512 mb and swap 0 on munjeni's cwm touch , i used s2e from play store and mounted dalvik cashe and applications and i get these problems ! am i doing something wrong ??

I never really had a problem like that when using S2E. If you want though, you can use Links2sd (I think that's what it's called) instead, and move all your apps to sd card. That might be more stable than using S2E.

Mmmm i kinda need some widgets but i guess i'm gonna have to stay without them for nw , thnx anyways

You don't have to move your widget apps though, right? Just move certain apps to gain needed space.

internal memory becoming short even after moving all the downloaded apps to sd card..... do any body have any solution....????
Did you clean the cache from the browser and other apps ?
Even if you move apps to the sdcard through Apps2SD, Android still installs stuff to the phone's internal storage for the dalvik cache and Using something like Link2SD with a partitioned memory card will solve this.
If you use Link2SD, DO NOT use Apps2SD of anykind. they are counterproductive.
The LG509P Optimus T only has 200MB internal storage.
I use an 8GB card partitioned with a 512MB ext2 partition for Link2SD. With all the apps I have installed (about 35-40), my internal phone storage is only using 55mb or so, with everything else going to the card automatically through Link2SD.
Clean browser & facebook or other apps cache and data.
create an partition on your device and download a2sd gui from market and flash darktremor a2sd script via recovery...then reboot and open a2sd gui app and select app on sd...in the dalvik cache tab select move cache to sd-ext.
links are here:
for a2sd gui:

and for the script: kindly search google.
hit the thanks button if I have helped you.
here is the script which is working on my phone
please check if your rom supports it...I dunno which ones do..but the forum and some google search might help..

Link2Sd requires no special script or custom recovery for install or rom checking. All you need is a partitioned sd card, and to download the app from the market.
Guys which one is better installing apps2sd script of link2sd?

With link2sd you have a GUI and a choice what to move to SD. With apps2sd, everything is moved, no choice, no GUI. Decide for yourself.
how much of memory does links2sd free ??? with data2sd my internal memory is 140 mb free...yeah its a little cumbersome but once done no worries...

Uhm... Depends on how many apps you move, surprisingly You can move the app, dalvik cache and libs (manually or automatically, all configurable).

thats because your dalvik-cache is on phone..
NOTE: SOme ppl report that phone gets a little slower with dalvik-cache on sd..
try this
open terminal
type "su"
then u get a # prompt
execute this "a2sd cachesdreset"
Phone wil reboot and it might TAKE a while in rebuilind dalvik-cache
..you have a lot of free space in phone now..Check it
maximum free memory
well but whats the maximum memory free..
I dont see any harm in moving everything at one to the extention...i am too lazy and prefer shifting everything at once
Dude just follow the steps everything is automated..You will get arnd 150~160mb free after its done..
I've got about 35-40 apps on my phone, using a Class 4 8GB sd card, and my phone has 155mb free. there are some things you don't want to move through Link2SD (such as desktop widgets) or they dont work.
im a newbie.... can you tell me how to partition the sd card......
Dude install custom recovery(I m using AMonra2.2.1) ..Then boot into the recovery and select Partition Sd card ..Select all upgrade options one by one and settle for ext4..And
these options will partition
swap=0
ext=512
fat=rest
using rom manager is another alternative...use the values as given above by sarfaraz

LG P500 Slow and low memory

I have the froyo final installed. The problem that happens is the delay to restart the applications when I turn on my phone. Usually one minute or more for all icons to open the main menu from LG. Most applications are installed on my card and still am low on memory on the phone, only 30mb. I'm using an application to move the phone card that is pro APPS 2 SD. I have installed the Gemini that also moves the applications. My card is not partitioned. What is the solution to the phone beginning faster and have more free memory the phone? Every application when I install on the phone says low memory. I have micro sd sandisk 16gb class 4.
i also had that problem, now i fresh flashed devoid and use darktremors a2sd script, everything starts up very fast...

You mean use the INTERACTIVE DATA2SD MOD? Just do partition and the flash card with this application? No need to install anything, everything is moved to the 512MB partition?

What is the difference between them? For example datasd and apps2sd you have to do flash. The link2sd you download the program in the market.
i think widgets cant me moved on sd card via links2sd...while in a2sd you can move everything ....even widgets ...they work as the phone assumes that the partition created is added to the internal memory...

Jep, I read, just saying it to be shore. Then I think you try to FLASH you FROYO again and try then. It was worked to me before I was in FROYO! Was installed move2sd enabler, then run it, but EXTERNAL. Install app2sd, then JUST run it and you can close it. Now install link2sd(and OF COURSE you must be ROOTED, with two partitions in SD[FAT32 & EXT2]). And it must be working or you doing something wrong. SORRY!

finally I found the way to move the whole app to the sd card, i Have froyo 2.2.1 stock what you have to do is this:
-root your phone
-Make a partition to the sd card, FAT32 and ext2
-install move2sd enabler
then install move2sd and select EXTERNAL
-install link2sd and select ext2 and reboot
-after rebooting open link2sd and select the app you want to move, it say on sd (froyo way) select manage and move to phone select the app again and select create link, select the 3 checks, make the link, select app again, manage, move to sd card, your memory will increase a little bit with each app...
worked for me,,,

but i got important app had 45 mb data on phone memory . how cn i move data to sd ? the app is epocrates medical
tried data2sd but it has many bugs
btw why the memory decreases slowly despite using move2sd enabler and link2sd ¿???
Well the cache and data keep on increasing as you use browsers and games....titanium backup has the option of moving data of each app to sd...if u have darktremors apps2sd there is a data2sd command

Internal memory shortage!!

Although we can move apps to sd with rooted device but it still comsumes some memory form mobile. Is it not possible to move apps to sd without any consumstion of internal memory?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA
I dont think so...
Partition your SD and use link2SD if you're on stock rom or a2SD / s2e if you're on custom rom. Still, all apps use a small amount of internal storage. Also check if your cache isn't too big, I've recovered up to 40 MB by clearing cache every few months.
You can use "S2E" from market and tick all option including the data one but you will get a decrease in performace. For data you must enter in definitions and tick advanced for accessing it.
I am using Miracale v4 by itasoulas and using link2sd to move apps to sd but if i download heavy size app or games it takes much more internal memory so, i'm running out of internal memory.
If i do partition of my sd card to install app separately will it also consume internal phone memory?

I have made partition of sd yet. Im thinking of making it if I get any solution.
I used Link2SD and now have over 100mb free internal space. I partitioned the sd card to ext3, 1024mb.... works like a charm, no performance issues.. widgets are recognized as well.

i choose manual to move app to sdcard from settings(no use any app for this),20 hd games+17 casual games + 35 apps i still have 70mb free memory, maybe s2e gives more free space but it isn't stable, sometimes when i unplug my battery because of lags, then my apps are gone,link2sd is rubbish, they just give me 40 mb space and unstable like s2e.
sorry for my english

Absolutely true, the only thing good is that it still keeps the app fast (+ widgets) and no hassle on connecting USB
Useful for just those 4-5 apps one wants
Even in link2sd no hassle in USB class 10 sdcard so its super fast :-D

You need a rooted Ace for this? And custom ROM?
Guys,
Sorry to ask a noob question:
I know how to partition the SD card to EXT, but does these apps mentioned, Link2SD etc, working with stock rom? And uprooted phone?
Thanks.
Yes.
But you need follow the tutorials that are posted in the forum (hit search).
In stock roms u need (i guess) another kernel that support inid.d scripts.
The only reason i love cyanogen is because of s2e, after move dalvin on ed-ext i have 160 mb and with all my apps (20-+) i have 140mb.
I don't know if on stock u can do what s2e does but there are another tricks. (Link2sd) for exemple.

[Q] Link2SD on CM9

The link2sd is not able to work on CM9. well.
Using LINK2SD is because I would like to tranasfer dex to the SD card, so I can install more than 50 apps.
What I was trying:
Transfering Dexfrom APPs to SD-ext by LINK2SD. Every thing works great, I transfered all Dex to SD by link2sd and I have about 50M internal memory free.
Then I reboot the phone, it is showing before asking the PIN:
Android is upgrading ...
-------------------------------
O Optimizing application x of xx
after all xx applications (Which I have moved dex to SD-EXT) done. it shows:
Android is upgrading ...
-------------------------------
O Starting applications.
After boot up, the internal memory shows only 6M free. and some applications has been moved to internal from SD-ext.
Tried to release by uninstall some app. after reboot, the rest SD-ext application will move to internal one by one untill all of them.
What I can do is move them to SD card by native APP2SD. which makes the number of installed applications is less than 50.
quesion is: how to disable this Optimizing? or any better way to move every thing to SD or SD-ext other than link2sd?
What do you do with more apps and internal memory? Or as my friend said that he never need so much apps since he flashs his phone every two weeks anyway...
Only simple2ext works in ICS.

Seems it doesnt work on my CM9. Just come to report my status.
I am using EXT4. The system-boot will move everything back to internal, and after bootup and the S2E started. it will move everything to EXT which takes a 15 min bootup. and after about 10 time repeating this, the phone crashed. 70% user data was gone. like wifi connections, most apps. some are left. didnt do any research on that, just restored to a backup and using native APP2SD now.
If it doesnt work, dont try to make it work then... you will just start to ruin your time and data on the way..
