[Q] B2CAppSetup not working. lg mobile updater tool - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hi all. trying to do offline root and flash.
did it once, but i tried to unlock bootloader a month later and tragedy occurred. got replacement few days ago.
for some reason, when following guide, when i try to install updater tool, the LG logo flashes up on taskbar quickly, then goes away.
i check, and the program is not installed. i tried downloading it from another site, and it hangs on installation. about 10 percent done.
when i try to run the kdz flash, it tells me the tool isn't installed.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. with rooted JB, this isn't a bad little phone. without root, it sucks.
i'm on v10g
p769 t-mo

Sounds like you skipped a few steps. I did the same thing. Rooted then accidentally flashed non rooted file. So had to root again and I thought I knew how to do it so I just buried through the steps and if didn't work. You have to follow each and every step and don't forget to replace the bin file! Good luck.

been over and over it. LG mobile software tool won't install. when I click BC2App.exe, the logo briefly flashes in task bar, but goes away. when I run the offline flash tool, it says bc2app not set up. when I search for LG mobile updater tool, nowhere to be found on laptop

by now you should already have the small server installed. Have you installed the server and seen the girl?

poop. third time I've posted reply. not sticking.
I didn't get the girl on small server. BUT, first time I rooted first LG, I never saw her either. tried 6 times, finally went ahead and tried flashing with success.
I seem to remember something about Windows enabler then too, but can't find a reference for it.
I'm running my internet off of hotspot at the moment too, could that have something to do with LG mobile update tool not installing? I try to install, but it closes. looked everywhere on laptop. not installed.
when I try flashing, it tells me it's not installed. to click tools, install. I do that, it says complete, but it's not.
thought of something to try. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow

possibly solved. LG mobile support tool finally installed at least. Will go through entire root process tomorrow and see if it is working.
if so, will post for others. too late right now. hehe, actually was woken up by the idea. going back to bed. too tired for ADB

[Q] Can't Figure Out How to Root

I need help with rooting my phone. I have gone to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957155
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043636
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1884#tutorial
I first started out with Samsung Galaxy Note II Kit. But, the update said I needed to do something about unlocking my boot loader, so I went to the Adam Outtler page. But, he says in the first post that this won't work If you do it with an OTA update after January 18, 2012. Well, I didn't notice that first anyways and tried Odin, and all it would do mainly was fail, or setup connection would take forever, and even Casual says:
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
noroot
DEVICE IS NOT ROOTED! ROOT YOUR DEVICE! Install any VRALJB ROM --Adam Outler
What I think I need to do is uninstall the OTA update, but most people I have seen do it through a rooted phone, but I don't have one yet. I have no idea what to do, and I am really confused and don't want to hard brick or screw up my phone. Could anyone help me with this? I am sorry if I am being stupid about this, but the only thing I ever rooted was a NOOK tablet which was simple.
P.S. I am sorry but if anyone respond between the times of 10am-12pm today, and 4pm-12am today, I will not be able to respond due to work arrangements I have for today.
First confirm the baseband: System Settings > About Phone > Baseband. If it shows VRALL4, you have the update and need to use the updated root and unlock method here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118348
Just go slowly and follow the directions (measure twice and cut once), its pretty easy. Good luck.
start at section 1 of my guide...then if youwant to unlock follow adams thread. make sure to use his latest "jailbreak" method(the one linked in my guide).
If you on the latest software from Verizon, just use Adams guide. That's all I did. Need any help let me know!
Or just follow this dude here.

the last thing i would recomend is using anything other than adams or my thread. also the op may just want root, which he can simply place root66 in odin and be done. the latest software adds no benifit other than if you like to internet bench race.

Use the offline kdz method to get back on 10G rooted. Search for lelus' screen fix and apply.
Basically follow links here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198114
Skip the flashing offline kdz of euro 20b, do the rest.

Can you elaborate on this? I've tried to use the Smartflashtool to fix this problem and haven't had any luck.
Havent used it in a long time, but in fact you only need smartflashtool (sft), the fls file you extacted from the kdz file and that's basically it. Reboot your phone in download mode and open sft. In there change to the correct tab, choose your fls (dont remember which field, since it is REALLY long ago) hit start and it should update your baseband.

Great idea but how do you get past the magic number does not match issue? If you have the model.dll file for the p769 could you please forward so I can replace the one I have. Mine is for the 940

Like I said, I only inserted the fls file and there was no magic number error.
Maybe check the p970 forum, there is another version of SFT. Maybe it was this one, that worked.
Well that would be great if we could get that to work for our phone because it take like three minutes to flash. This would be an alternate to the offline flash.
P769v20h- 'tis the season to give thanks so push the button already!
Ok again:
It works to flash the BASEBAND ONLY!
It does NOT and I repeat N O T work for the full firmware.
For this to work we would need a new modell.dll, which we probably can only get from LG itself, or a REALLY good reverse engineer here on the forum. But I really doubt anyone wants to do this. I was also talking to xonar_ and he is like an android god to me. He confirmed, that it's very hard, up to impossible to get this to work. I also tested a pack made by him, but it also wouldnt work. If anyone is interested, go ahead an contact him. He is a really nice guy and explains everything very much in detail, if you nicely ask for

Fixed my touch screen on LG P769
I am now able to fix my wonky touch screen finally. Thank God.
After spending the whole day Saturday to unlock the bootloader and install custom rom, I finally gave up after 24 hours. Next I wanted my phone to be in working condition by Sunday night.
I just flashed the stock kdz (V20h) for t-mobile usa. I had this one originally. My display was okay (after initial switch off and on) but touch was still not good.
After that I just did root my phone and installed Super Su. as mentioned in other threads
Then followed the command to cat v6.bin into some firmware file, as mentioned in other threads. It feels so good to get the touch screen working again.
The display is still mirrored when phone boots, but first time i switch off the screen and on again, and it's fixed.
I will edit this post, later with more details and links later.
Also, I did a Factory Data reset, after flashing v20h kdz. But I believe it was not required. In fact, it was very difficult to enter passwords for wifi, google play account etc with the wonky touch screen.
Sounds like you got it under control. Here is a zip file Kuma made that I use when I try to unlock bootloader. Sometimes I have to install it twice but it's the fastest way to get back to normal

No WIFI, broken root, need emergency recovery/flash

My phone P769 10g ICS rooted. Everything worked until i decided to try RemountSD app. It didn't work, i uninstalled. Had to reset the phone because music player couldn't scan media files. After resetting phone music player worked but something happened to the root and still no wifi. Can't connect to any network. Installing CWM 1.5.0.0 only made it worse. Not properly installed possibly because of root problems or something else is wrong.
Is it possible to emergency flash it through PC/LG software with kdz either rooted or unrooted, JB or ICS. I just need a working phone in case i have to RMA or if reflashing helps with WIFI even better. WIFI passed service code diagnostic.
If you can turn on the phone, use the normal kdz flashing method
If the normal kdz flash method doesn't work try turning off your phone and doing it in s/w upgrade mode. Set the kdz to emergency mode. Either way you should be able to get your phone back. Good luck.

I can turn on the phone everything seems to works except for wifi and something possibly wrong with root as a result of installing/removing RemountSD app. I don't have a working CWM to do rooted JB or ICS KDZ.
Can someone link me to the standard kdz flash thread? Thanks.

Will use this method to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
Not sure if i will lose root and don't really care at this point. I'm more curious why WIFI stopped connecting and root got damaged after factory reset and if the factory KDZ will fix WIFI.
Tried flashing JB KDZ in phone update window get "Updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG Mobile phone software update". In lower right corner small window "Please check your internet line and execute program again. Continue/Cancel".
Solved. Bad KDZ dowload.
Unsolved. Phone stuck in S/W Upgrade mode. Screen on. USB device not recognized. Bricked.
I think I know why cwm didn't work for you, I noticed you are on p769 10g, that 1.5 is for jelly bean, try using the 1.4 version. That's if your busybox is working properly, and restore someone's cwm backup.

I got this error at one point too. DONT FRET, IT'S FIXABLE.... This is what I did... Open your control panel on your PC, and goto add/remove programs. I uninstalled EVERYTHING LG related. Reboot. Reinstalled everything, as if I just got the phone and was just starting out. Once it's all installed again, you should be fine.
For reference, what prompted me to do this was this page: http://mobility.forumsee.com/a/m/s/...-fix-page-error-ºiºðao-when-flashing-kdz.html
Your results may vary, but I didn't have to do what's listed on that page. You "might" have to. Good luck
EDIT: Don't forget...Some apps HAVE to be run in compatibility mode, and MUST be run as administrator.
I agree, rooting this device is not easy, I decided to make a how to video, starting off fresh, for noobs, but when I got to the flashing part, it failed three times. The first was the not connected error, so I turned on the phone then flashed, and it worked. However, the second time, while making the video, I ran in to a new error, at the part when it states checking battery level, it was telling me that I needed to charge the the phone to continue, but the phone was at 100% . I tried it on both of my laptops and Same error, so as of right now, I'm have to drain it to about. 80% then try. I hope this works (fingers crossed) so much for the video. I must be tired, time to sleep (note to self, don't go 24 hours without sleep and try to root and make a video)
good night y'all

[Q] Am I too late to root

It has been over a year since I got this phone. Normally, I rooted the day I received a new phone. But I didn't think that I had any reason to do so this time until I bought a Chromebook. Now I really need to tether.
Can someone show me where to start? It seems that most the threads I have looked at are pretty old and just spent a couple of hours going no where.
Current software is 4.4.2.
Thanks.

I then installed the app to temp root and ran Firewater. The terminal commands are on the firewater site....if you need more detail or even a step by step, I'm happy to help and write something up. I just can't tonight as I have an obligation to attend to.
Let me know how you make out and if you need additional assistance I'll write something up tomorrow around this time.

Thanks for the reply. I have the instructions for Weaksauce and Firewater, but I don't want to make any mistakes here.
Where can I find the latest HTC DNA drivers without installing the HTC Sync program?
Where can I find the latest ADB download?
It looks like these are the last things I need to find before continuing.
I'm at work, but this evening I'll either find you a link or upload them to my dropbox. Hang in there...I'll help ya out lol...soon as you have everything, its literally like a 5 min process.

Thanks. You have been very helpful. I have rooted 6 devices without a problem, but always rooted when the device was new along with the tools to root. Alwayw made me nervous though.
Thanks again...

Haven't forgotten ya...I'm just getting home. Have a few things to attend to.
You can get the HTC drivers from this post right here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2000896
Ok, download the SDK from here : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html?hl=sk
Make sure USB debugging is turned on. Install the attached weaksauce apk for temp root. You can verify you're rooted by downloading superSU and root checker from the play store.
Unpack the SDK and you'll want to put the firewater file in the folder titled : adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20140321
Open a terminal from this folder by holding down shift and right clicking the folder, "open command window here"
Follow the commands given on the firewater site.
Profit.
Once S-off and unlocked go to the TWRP thread in original development and download a recovery. Flash that via fastboot.
Then flash super user zip for root...again, search that out. I'm running out of time so I can't right now...lol
This is all I did. Collect all your files first. Make sure your drivers are good to go before starting. Install the drivers, reboot the pc and plug the phone into the usb. Likely a driver install thingy will pop up with like 5 little circles...let it finish before you begin.
Good luck bro...I'll check in tomorrow or later tonight to see how you made out.
**I take no credit for any files linked or attached.**

Well, didn't work for me. I am guessing I might have tried to root months ago. I drank a lot back then. When I ran WeakSauce, it said I was already rooted and did nothing. Then I ran Root Check, and it said I wasn't rooted. But I moved on through the steps. But when I got to the last step in FireWater, it said I need to run as root.
I noticed I had SuperSU app installed. So I uninstalled that, uninstalled WeakSauce, re-installed both and started over, but got the same results.
Not sure where to go from here. I almost feel like I should just do a Factory Reset and start over, but that could really screw things up too.
Man, sure am sorry to hear that..maybe a full RUU would fix you up. Then start over...I'm not sure. Maybe someone with more in depth knowledge needs to chime in here..
bummer.....

You know, now that I think about it, I did have full root before, but I wasn't thinking one night and got an OTA update that made me loose root. Maybe that is why I can't use weaksauce. I decided to start in my bootloader. Attached is a screen shot. Tried to go into recovery, but that failed. Just came up with a picture of a battery or something. Had to hold the power button down for 10 seconds just to boot normally.
Does the screen shot tell you anything? It tells me, I think, that the phone is S-off'ed and unlocked. but firewater complained about not being rooted. I am confused.

As said right above me....you're all set to go. Use fast boot to push a recovery and then flash super su zip. If you need the zip I can attach it later.

Funny. There have been other threads where people are asking how to root DNA 4.4.2. They have been referring them to this thread So I guess I am not SO dumb.
Anyhow, as I remember, there are a couple of ways to flash. 1) from the PC using ADB and from the phone using an IMG file right? What is the easiest way to flash the Recover file? Which version of ClockWorkMod is going to be compatible with 4.4.2 and where would I find the download? Also, one last question, which SuperSU version is going to be compatible and where is the best download?

how do i return to 100% stock from rooted 6.0?

Guess the title says it all. All the guides I keep finding are for lollipop. All I want to do is return this phone to 100% stock. Can someone please help me? I don't want to mess it up.

1. Download kdz file from here: https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B3R77elw9JjNSmVsVjhjbWdLcEU&export=download
2. Download lgup from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzRiXiP57hD7bnpaVkJJUUFLQnc/view?pref=2&pli=1 and install both file in it. After that Copy the "common" folder in the zip file to "C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP\model"
3. Download and install LG Bridge for drivers. http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000026-1438110404543-preinstall-app
4. Turn off your phone, hold volume up button while plug your microusb cable, It will set your v10 to download mode.
5. Run lgup executive file, chose upgrade, in bin file select the kdz downloaded from step 1, then CLOSE lg up.
6. Reopen lgup again, chose refurbid, the kdz file still linked in bin
7. Press start and wait. When it finished, u're on stock MM v20e.
Perfect! Thank you. Do I need to relock the bootloader after that or will lgup do it for me?
I used lg bridge and clicked recovery button on bottom right then locked bootloader. Worked like a champ for me

Two very good threads on the subject. A quick search would've lead you to those two threads.

Thanks but I didn't ask how to root. I already did that. I want to undo it. And I was just looking for the simplest way. Trust me, I've read every thread in the world on the v10. Theses other guys helped me out. It's all good now. Have a nice day...and there's no such thing as a QUICK search on the subject. I've been searching for 3 days ish and just got tired of it. So I asked
Yeah I was on MM rooted and had to return my V10. I searched too, I finally decided to take a chance and use lg bridge and it worked. But no write up on how to.

So what's the verdict to go completely back to stock? Use LGUP or Bridge or both?

Nobody reads anything anymore. The thread that was linked literally has a pdf in it called "how to unroot"
When these unroot methods are applied, do they get rid of the "your device software cant be checked for corruption" prompt on bootup?
I think only relocking the bootloader removes that message.
Sent from my pretty nifty brand new LG V10
I ask because I'd like to trade in this phone for the V20. I just don't want to embark on all this effort and still have a phone with "root evidence" making it un-tradeable.

flash the phone with root stock and then while in fastboot mode run the following command: fastboot oem lock
That will lock the bootloader and get rid of the annoying message.
