Step To Flash
Step [1] , [2], [3] and [4] must done ONLY FOR FIRST TIME, BEFORE FIRST FLASH OF THIS TWEAK
Before flash
[1]-> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox download this and install with "smart install" (if you already have busybox installation, not reinstall it)
[2]-> Download flashable zip [5a] or [5b] or last version, into it there is a file called term-init.sh, extract and put into sd card.
[3]NOW download script manager from play store, start program and find term-init.sh, run it with su-permission (ONLY SU PERMISSION) and wait to finish.
[4]-> Now reboot into recovery and flash zip this zip , it will tweak build.prop http://d-h.st/VIJ
[5] -> now flash this:

[5b] 1.4 Stock CPU = http://d-h.st/oIK
[5c] 1.5.2 http://d-h.st/2Dq
at boot you should have into /data a file called "test.log", if you have it, done!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changelog:[/SIZE]
-SD Card boost = 2048 (Stock 128)
-NEW lowkillerram values for speed and ram
-read entropy = 128 (stock 64)
-dirty expire centisecs= 2000 (stock 200)
-tweak build.prop
-patch gps
add fastengineflush to compress ram
application render 2d for smooth
add adj for lowkilleram
kernel manage
[email protected] 908
Undervolt
Why underclock? I've already saw that is a test version, so...why in a phone that the cpu is already not fast?
It necessary to say that this cpu soffer to step from a frequence to another big one, so maybe the table: 300,500,700,900 is more regular
I have seen a parity of smoothness with this underclock, and game (Real racing 3 is not influenced by it) so. IF. smoothness is the same, and battery life grow up, it Is great!
changelog 1.5
Script to exchange folder sd memory (android/data and android/obb)
Redure power of wifi
Reduce entropy (testing)
Undervolt with stock frequencies
the flash delete init.d folder and re-add
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER TWEAK (erase system/etc/init.d before use this)
Attach with screenshot of first cicle of battery, with 1 hour of screen ON
p.s. i choose to use the script "term-init.sh", because not exist an universal files (expecially for v20D) for made up init.d folder
IF LIKE MY WORK, give me a beer:

Do I need ClockWorkMod to flash it?

You can also put manually in system/etc/init.d and set permission...but however you need root

If I do that, can ignore the "META-INF" and "busybox" folders included in the tweak pack and just run the "term-init.sh" file and copy the "system" folder?
By the way, how do you set permission? Do you use SManager?
Thanks :good:

You can simply put the script (into system/etc/init.d folder) in your sd card and run with su and boot options with SManager
Inviato dal mio LG-P760 con Tapatalk 2

I Think I got it. I just needed to copy the script, run it with permissions, and ignore the other folders included in the tweak pack?

Yes, only init.d folder
Work in progress

if i have run "term-init.sh" with su and boot , do i need to flash the zip ?
i have to do all in your steps ?
another style : i run "term-init.sh" with su and boot , or flash the zip , then choose LGE SUPL .
which one is right ?
and is the location of ""term-init.sh"" important ? can i just put it in /system/etc ?
thank you very much !!!

term-init.sh get ready your phone to make work init.d folder.
launch term-init.sh one time, with su permission (and not at boot!!!!)
after this, flash the zip, that contains script, term-init.sh is a script yes, but not for batteryandsmooth, not mine, get only ready your phone, and you must run only one time.
term-init.sh need to extract in your sd card, not in system folder.

and another question can this be flashed on locked jb?
how much will it save the batery ?

in theory yes, pratically i don't know cause my bootloader is unlocked, however yes because files are independent

Devoid.Franco Kernel 14

Been using Franco's Rom and Kernel and it's been great. However, I like to update to his v.14 kernel. I did the format
1. Wipe
2. Partition, etc...
3. Load v5 Rom
4. Restart
My problem is right here, the warning is to delete the tweaks file and the script file (which I don't have one) in File Manager. I use the OI manager that comes with v5 Rom but it just wont' delete, and I don't want to load the new kernel because of all the warnings, please help :-(...

it wont delete cause of permissions. I use root explorer for this kind of work. In this particular case i had deleted the nececary scrips from the flash zip and i flashed afterwards. (i had a clean install)
I am trying the clean install as well, can you give the instructions or point me to somewhere where I can read more about this, thanks for your time and effort.
Do I just delete it in the Devoid.Franco v5 zip before flashing and then restart the process (the only file that I can find is tweaks.sh)
Sorry, found the init.d file as well. Would I delete those files in the zip, rezip and then start the process over?
you just delete them from the zip and you flash it as usuall. just dont forget to disable verification check on your recovery or else it will give you error
Sorry, just a newb when it comes to this.
I couldn't delete the two files from the devoid.franco.v5.zip file so I did the following:
1. Extract the zip file
2. Deleted the two files
3. Rezipped the files into a new devoid.franco.v5.zip
4. Load the zip into the micro sd card after all the wipe and partition
5. Disabled Signature check
6. Tried the flash and it said it can't open the zip because it's bad :-(...
This can't be that hard when all the other kernels was easy to install...

Extracting a zip and re-zipping it DOESN'T work. You are not supposed to unzip the file. Just flash the rom, delete the offending files using root explorer, and then flash the kernel.
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using XDA App
You should't extract the file and rezip it. It corrupts it when it comes to flashing. I personally browse the zip file with winrar and simple delete the files i need. I also add files to zip this way like apks, ringtones etc
Trying winrar and it seems to work, gone to see if I can finish the entire process. Thanks so much for your time again. In the future, can I send the apps that I want directly into this zip? I can to sue something zipsigner before to get calendar, etc... Thanks again!!!
An alternative way for a clean install:
1: wipe everything
2: flash devoid.franco.v5
3: reboot (to check if everything is ok)
4: reboot into recovery
5: mount /system partition under 'mounts and storage' (clockworkmod)
6: from pc type (with phone still in recovery): 'adb shell'
7: in adb shell, type: 'rm /system/etc/tweaks.sh'
8: in adb shell, type: 'rm /system/etc/init.d/00script'
9: flash franco.kernel.v14
10: reboot
I Hope it helps,
Bye
You're welcome m8.
And yes you can have the apps you want inside the rom this way very easilly. just put them in app folder. I did this with some removed apps like browser and calendar and also removed zeam launcher and used adw launcher (personal taste) I even tried that with frameworks (aka themes) and it worked great
Thanks so much to both of your posts, it's working. One last questions, thought setcpu was already implemented in this kernel, but I don't see it anywhere? Again, thanks again for everyone's time and effort, learned so much today (wife is mad though because we need to do house work, lol, lol, better get going)... She said, "who formats their phone 5 times in 1 month, lol, lol"
setcpu is NOT included, you have to install it.
See first post in franco.kernel thread for the link.
Eh! eh! you are not in Europe, I guess if you have to help your wife NOW!!!
Barcelona-ManchesterUTD right NOW...
oh yes the wifes. my gf gets fustrated like "wtf are roms and kernels?? its just a phone!!! you call people and they call you back" rofl
One last note on setcpu. When i was using last version (2.13), every time i rebooted my phone the settings where gone and had to set them again. I switched to v2.1 and it worked like a charm. Have no idea if that is general issue or only me had it. Just thought i should tell you
Done via editing the zip with rar and all worked smoothly.
Thx all

[SCRIPT/TOOL] Convert2Dualboot-SD Tool v1.4[Linux/OSX/Android/DOS][6/8]

Hello all you Triple-Booters out there! I would like to introduce to you:
Convert2Dualboot-SD Tool
What is this you ask?
This is a little tool that I've put together that will convert any standard flashable roms for our Nook Color to be DualbootSD compatible. No more waiting on my lazy arse to update you guys!!! I used APK manager as a base for my script. I've written 3 different versions that will run on Linux, OSX and Android. All neccesary binaries are included with each version.
Click to collapse
Can I use any kind of flashable zips?
Yes and no. You could use any standard flashable "rom" or "gapps" zips only.
Click to collapse
How do I use it?
You drop a standard rom .zip into a "rom-to-modify" folder. Then execute a shell script that will give you an option to convert it for flashing to Primary or Alternate boot on the DualbootSD.
Click to collapse
Can I use any CWM Recovery for flashing?
Absolutely not! Only use the CWM Recovery that was included with the DualbootSD.

Will you be updating this to add new features and stuff?
Not sure what features I can add, but you can always check the CHANGE LOG in post 3.

Can you give us step by step directions on how to use this?
Of course! See second post for more details.

And that's all she wrote... well he, being me.
If I've helped in anyway. Don't hesitate to hit the thanks button.
Change log:
v1.4 (6/8/2012)
-Fixed gapps being zipped with rom when converting rom & gapps together
-Added SDCacheMount to converted roms (see the SDCacheMount thread for more info)
-Fixed mkimage binary executing error for Linux version
-No DOS update yet.... DizzyDen?????
-Thanks goes to xda user "shumash" for the SDCacheMount addition into the script
v1.3a
-Mkimage error on Android Script fixed.
-Mkimage is dependent on 'libmusl.so' which I did not include and linked in the tools folder. I overlooked this tidbit because I had "BOTBREW" installed on my system so it never complained about linking to it.
v1.3
-I effed up on the script!
-RASTAVIPER kept asking me about issues with his gapps. Apparently the mod for Gapps Alt Boot had the wrong mount points inserted into the updater script. NOW I SEE IT!
-Also in the DOS version. Prep of ROM Alt Boot had the wrong mount points as well. Sorry guys.
-It's been fixed and uploaded. Please don't use v1.2 anymore. Thanks.
v1.2
-Changed up UI layout of script: Please re-read README from post 2 above for edited instructions.
-Edited script to speed up mod process (Thanks DizzyDen!)
-Added option to mod both "ROM & GAPPS" on the fly
-Android version now has a tool.img file. This makes modding quicker and safer.
-Added DOS version ported by DizzyDen! (Thank you sir!)
-Modding for EMMC dualboot version in the works???? (That's if you guys want it)
v1.1
-Added gapps option
-Cleaned up some scripting behaviors
v1.0
-Initial release
Well.. after some thought, it really didn't make sense to release this without an option to mod gapps for the DualbootSD. I mean what good is a rom without gapps?!
Convert2Dualboot-SD v1.1 is up if anyone wants to try.
Check post 3 for all changlogs.
Thanks,
Racks
Taking advantage of the opportunity to try something new, I made a dual-boot card for my sister-in-law.
This is cool. I actually haven't tested the card yet as I have my device flashed to internal and have modded the recovery some. I haven't backed up any of the changes I made (I know, I know) and don't want to have to do it again.
I may try updating the card now that you've included gapps, though. I hadn't made a bootable card since I first rooted this thing, and to be honest it was by accident even that time. So I was wondering how to get gapps, was thinking about setting an alt-recovery just for that.
But anyway, I hadn't looked at how to do the gapps yet, maybe it was easier than that. But this seems even easier.
Cool, man! I bet the dual/triple booters will love being able to make their own updates. The experience I had last night couldn't have been easier. My wife got me and her sister the Nooks at the same time, I am excited for her to see what I have been talking about the last six months.
I will be sure to try this once my NC gets here. Thanks!
Racks,

DB zip? Sorry, but what are you referring to with that?
And could you also let me know which one you used? OSX, Linux, Android?
Edit: That might just be the stupid __MACOSX hidden folder that osx likes to include Forgot to exclude that and the .gitignore file when zipping. Although they aren't detrimental to running the C2DSD Tool, you can choose to delete them if you wish.
Thanks,
Racks

Sorry for being vague. I meant the modded dualboot sd zip build. But I tried it again and it was fine, so let's say no more about it, eh?
On a related note, since you're so motivated now, how about creating those separate cache1 and cache2 partitions so that we don't have to wait so long to boot between the two?
Anyone who tried the new modding option and that would like to share with us which CM9 rom (nightly) did he convert and is working fine after conversion?

to keep as close as Racks' I will have a DOS batch file available sometime tonight...
True Windows GUI version will be available early in the week.
Keeping with Racks' desires... both will be open source and stored on his github... I use AutoIT for windows programming these things.

UPDATE: I converted the latest Mirage build, and when I tried to flash it, Recovery complained that it wasn't a valid zip file. Checked it and the same weird file was in the converted flashable zip. When I ran the conversion a second time, all was good and it flashed as expected. I had deleted all the extraneous _MACOSX and .gitignore file stuff prior to running it the first time. BTW, the problem in the quoted post was when I converted an ICS build the first time, too. Racks, do you think that there is something that occurs the first time the script is run that is different on subsequent runs that might account for this?
Just installed nightly 28.4 without Opengl and then gapps which appeared in the folder Primary Mod after conversion.
After that I cant get inside shop.I click to open it and it gets me back to main menu.
Any ideas?Reflashing of gapps didnt work.

Primary mod is for Primary boot. Default primary boot was CM7, so I'm assuming you formatted /system1 & /data1 before flashing?
Could you also unzip the contents of the converted gapps zip. And check the updater script. All /system variables should be /system1.
-Racks
I didn't format anything before flashing. I thought this as an upgrade, so after conversion I just proceed to flashing.
Finally, I flashed your own gapps that you have at your dualboot topic and now everything is back to normal.
Unfortunately, even after this upgrade, I still continue to deal with FC issues of mail, Facebook and of other random apps.I think there is some problem with my card and CM9, since CM7 runs perfect from emmc or from same mem card.

Dual Boot (siyah kernel) - where are 2nd rom files?

I'v installed a 2nd rom with siyah 3.4.1, I see a hidden folder @ internal memory called '.secondrom' with size of 2.2 GB and only two img files: data&cache.
There is any way to browse the 'root' dir of the 2nd rom ?
I want to get into its system/etc folder, but these folders are only at the 'original' root (of the primary rom).
Another question -
Should I install every app (same apps) to each rom?
There is a simple way to install app to both roms at once or only separate to each rom?
About deleting 2nd rom:
After I'm doing a wipe date&cache to 2nd rom, what should I delete manualy from internal memory? (which folders?)
If you want to explore 2nd ROM files, you need to enter to "hidden" partition.
About deleting: just remove .secondrom folder.
You can't install one app at the same moment on both ROMs, cause the ROMs are independent of each other.

Thanks for the answers!
What is the path of the hidden partition? there is any way to see it?
I'm using 'es file explorer' with all the root permissions enable, include enabled showing all the hidden files/folders... but can't see this partition. (if its possible of course)

Below the previous question -
If I'll update Siyah kernel or install other dual-boot kernel (for example dorimnax) will I have any problem with loading the 2nd rom?
anyone have any idea?

I don't think so because I believe that those kernels are based off Siyah in the first place.

No everything will be fine, I have even changed kernels to a non dual boot just to try them out and when I install SiyahKernel again it's just like I never changed and no need to set up the 2nd rom again as it's already there

Any answer to the other question:

I want to get into its system/etc folder, but these folders are only at the 'original' root (of the primary rom). - all I can see is a folder @ internal sd .secondrom with 2.2gb - data & cache .img only...not all the other directories (system, ...)

accessing system root in 2nd rom
Its really very simple and you'll kick yourselves.
Boot into the second ROM.
Navigate to system in your file manager.
For dual boot the image file from your sd is mounted as the system so when you navigate to system while booted to second ROM it will be the contents of that file you are seeing.
For more info about how it works follow the link from the siyah website.
While we're on the topic can anybody help me to bind/symlink the standard app installation folder in data to the data folder in the second ROM to save duplicating installed apps? I understand that the data and dalvik will need to be desperate but surely the apk files don't need to be duplicated?

If anybody want to help, try optimize /system/etc/bmm/conf/recovery.rc
Installer/Download:
If coming from 0.2.8 & below:
- backup your 2nd-system before begin.
- on first boot, choose setting, system_2, partition setup, activate CDROM.
- then go to recovery & restore your data.
For best result, start from a fresh install ROM. (use ROM not converted by older BMM)
If coming from 0.2.9/0.3.0a:
- move 1st-system /data/media/cache.img to /data/media/virtual/system_1/cache.img

This is a great modern recovery and definitely a step forward over SafeStrap 3, thanks!
It is possible to edit slot layouts and keep compatibility with further development (e.g. the app)? I intend to mimic v0.2 behaviour, so that the stock firmware layout is left untouched ([email protected],data:[email protected],cache:[email protected]), and the other system is completely contained within webtop partition (system:[email protected],data:[email protected],cache:[email protected]), the other four slots will be unused. Will it work (especially redirecting everything to webtop)?

Swap for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 (GT-P5210)

Credits:
[mbm] for teaching me this dd terminal method.
As we all know, for what ever reason, Samsung decided to release the Tab 3 model tablets with 1 GB of ram. I believe this system needs more ram but unfortunately we cannot upgrade the hardware. What we can do is create virtual memory or a "Swap file" that acts like ram to help our Tab 3's out with multitasking and other memory hogging tasks. Below are the steps to:
1. Create a swap file.
2. Create a script file to run at boot from your /system/etc/init.d directory.
3. Create a android system with 1GB of RAM and 1GB of swap file virtual memory.
*Remember whatever device you are using must have a rom with init.d support and be rooted.
STEP 1: TERMINAL COMMANDS PT.1
Download terminal emulator from the play store if you don't already have it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
Open terminal emulator and execute these commands in order:
1. "su"
2. "cd /system"
3. "mount -o rw,remount /system"
4. "dd if=/dev/zero of=swapfile bs=1m count=600" (be patient, this step takes about a minute)
5. "mkswap swapfile"
6. "chmod 755 swapfile"
STEP 2: INIT.D SWAP FILE TEXT CREATION
Now to create a script to execute at boot every time you boot your phone. I used the app QuickEdit from the play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.edit
Now open that up and put the text below in the file:
"mount -o rw,remount /system
swapon /system/swapfile"
Now save that to your sdcard (/sdcard) as "swap" (remember do not save with the .txt)
STEP 3: TERMINAL COMMANDS PT.2
Now go back into terminal and execute these commands:
1. mv /sdcard/swap /system/etc/init.d
2. chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/swap
I kept my previous terminal session open but if you closed it for what ever reason you might have to execute "su" and then "mount -o rw,remount /system" before the two commands in step 3.
STEP 4:
Reboot and win. :laugh::good::laugh:
To verify that the process has worked, after reboot, bring up terminal emulator and type "free -m". You should see that swap has more than 600M! This will stick after reboot. If for whatever reason you want to get rid of your swap file just delete the "swapfile" file and the "swap" script. Enjoy!
I'm getting "swap file needs to be a least 40kb" after I "mkswap swapfile"
EDIT:I tied it again now and it seemed to work, for some odd reason

Never mind! I found the solution... when typing "1m" into the command line, the m must be capitalized, "M". If anyone else has this issue, this is where u went wrong! Now I have "999" instead of "399"!

I also notice that the created /system/swap file is only 589M ...
So I guess I could try to use a smaller swap file or clear some /system/** memory? Anyone know the best way to do that? or what i can delete etc?
thanks.

The last step is where you went wrong, since swap uses space on your system partition. Free up space and redo everything again. You should see 999 ( or more than 600) if you succeeded.

To free up space in the system partition, try deleting unecessary system apps and bloatware, (I'm guessing you are on stock touchwiz, but it doesn't matter otherwise). You can also find a deodexed rom that you would like. Deodexed roms use less space in your system partition. The last option is to get a download of your rom on a PC and boot into TWRP (3.0.2-0 preferred) and do an advanced wipe as well as your internal storage. Backup everything if needed, then reflash.
Hope any of these helped!

Ahhh. I followed the instructions and installed cm13.0 from nels83 ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-3/development-10/rom-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3342017 )
I guess doing this step:
"Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Dalvik Cache + System + Cache + Data"
doesn't actually wipe the system partition clean?

Ya, that doesn't wipe the tablet clean, wiping all of that and 'internal storage' does the trick. Glad I could help!
