(Q) CPU control app - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

is there any or already available app that can control cpu and have profiles that can be a widget?
for example:
For everyday I use 256-1024mhz smartassv2(profile 1)
then on my sleep, I want to set my settings to 256-256 minmax to save battery(profile 2)
then in the home screen i can have widget control which in just 1 tap i will be able to change from profile1 to profile 2 vice versa
is there any app like this? is so then what's the name? thanks

May be this

SetCPU will do the job for ya

You have setcpu, nofrills CPU control, system tuner,Rom toolbox lite and tons of options for CPU control...check em out..

Looking for an app?

Hey guys. I'm looking for an app that is similar to SetCPU, but I can set my CPU overclock/underclock settings specifically for different applications. Meaning, I could have my Mantano Reader always at 300MHz but have Modern Combat 3 always at 1300MHz.
Anyone know of how to do this? I'm trying to maximize my battery. I'm on CM7.2 (Mirage Kang) and I have V6 but I'm still seeing some depressing battery loss just browsing with Wi-Fi on.
That's what your governor is for, it up clocks and/or down clocks the CPU according to what type of task is being performed.

Ah, I see. I just got my Nook Color around a week ago and I've installed Mirage Kang so I am extremely new to all this.
Could you point me in the right direction? What app for this would you suggest, SetCPU or something like Tasker?
Its under cyanogen mod settings in the settings menu.
Setcpu won't work with CM7.

I know of those settings (along with Nook Tweaks). What I was looking for was setting specific CPU settings for different apps. Like,
Mantano Reader : Always 300MHz
Andy-83 Calculator : Always 300MHz
Modern Combat 3 : Always 1300MHz
etc, etc, etc.
Specific settings for each app, not just generalized overclock/underclock settings for all apps.
(I hope I am explaining this well enough.)
I think you can set up rules such as those with Tasker.

There is no need to set it for each app. Just set it to on demand and the governor will automatically adjust the clock speed as it is needed.

[Q]Dynamic Overclocking

Hi.
My question is: Is there a way to overclock the cpu by specifying a set frequency, to run at, when opening a 3d application?
For example: The cpu is running by default at 480/600 (on any min/max like governor). When a 3d app is started the max value should scale up to 787 and then revert back to the default of 600 when the app is stopped/unfocused.
I checked out the profile creation feature of some cpu overclocking apps but didn't find any to provide this kind of functionality.

I don't think you can because setCPU doesn't have that option from what i saw.
Play with the governors, see which one fits your needs. Some of them won't go to 787 anyway if you don't force it to.
Check the governors out :
ondemand – Available in most kernels, and the default governor in most kernels. When the CPU load reaches a certain point (see “up threshold” in Advanced Settings), ondemand will rapidly scale the CPU up to meet demand, then gradually scale the CPU down when it isn't needed.
interactive – Available in newer kernels, and becoming the default scaling option in some official Android kernels. The interactive governor is functionally similar to the ondemand governor with an even greater focus on responsiveness.
conservative – Available in some kernels. It is similar to the ondemand governor, but will scale the CPU up more gradually to better fit demand. Conservative provides a less responsive experience than ondemand, but can save battery.
performance – Available in most kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the “max” set value at all times. This is a bit more efficient than simply setting “max” and “min” to the same value and using ondemand because the system will not waste resources scanning for CPU load.
powersave – Available in some kernels. It will keep the CPU running at the “min” set value at all times.
userspace – A method for controlling the CPU speed that isn't currently used by SetCPU. For best results, do not use the userspace governor.
smartass – Included in some custom kernels. The smartass governor effectively gives the phone an automatic Screen Off profile, keeping speeds at a minimum when the phone is idle.

Cpu scaling question

Hello, i have some questions about the cpu scaling of Android.. First, do the system use the lowest frequency when not in use? Aka screem off
After i unlock the phone do it always scale to max frequency or scale it based on the cpu needed? For example write a text makes the phone use thr same freq as playing a game?

It depends on the kernel u use on the custom rom
you have different governors while using setcpu or nofrills cpu control
search for a description there are quiet many of em
some are for saving battery, some sclae faster than others, some scale directly to max and sooo on

[Q] CPU Control App

Hi,
I'm looking for a CPU control app, similar to SetCpu but with the following features.
Profiles
Set the amount of cores through Profiles.
Change the governor through profiles
Many different ways to enable profiles - eg App running
If anyone knows an app with all the following features, please tell me it!

[Q] EPS toggle settings?

Hi everybody
What should I edit to set custom values in nik3r's EPS toggle for CPU max freq and max number of core allowed?
I'd like to set max freq at 1ghz, 2 cores allowed. I tried manually and it goes fine for light use.
Thanks

i think it's not possible to change this, because it is defined in kernel source code.
Ok so there is no way even adding something to userinit.sh?

nope. you can only get a cpu app with possibility to add profiles and make one for powersaving, but then there's no use for nik3rs EPS toggle
