[Q] Non-Verizon SIM - Caller ID issue "+" - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello,
I have a SCH-i545 and using it with AT&T.
The caller ID problem i am encountering is while receiving an incoming call, the caller ID displayed in incorrect format and causing not able to dial-out.
For example, when i receive calls it is as follow +8088325678. When it dials out, it remains the +, causing it incorrect format.
If it did arrive as (808)832-5678, or +18088325678, then it will dial out.
My question is:
1. How can i remove the "+" from caller ID?
2. Alternatively, How can i add "1" in the caller ID, making it +1 before the 10 digit?
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Thanks!!!

Because when you use another carrier's sim, the firmware assumes you are overseas.

I believe in phone settings there is an option for using the phone internationally that adds the +. I forget what its called and I'm not running stock, but read the descriptions of the options and you should be able to figure out which ones to play with.

Was there ever a fix found for this issue?

seriously nobody can chime in? :/

No fix yet. I'm still waiting for a fix and still dealing with it.

Go into phone then call settings scroll down and see if us dailing is checked...

Yes it is, assisted dialing is off as well. i tried a t mobile sim card and it works fine, so it appears to be the ATT sim im using is being seen as a international vs. domestic sim.

Ics update gone wrong(pin problem)

Hello everyone,
Last night we updated an s2 to the original ics, using the ota.all went well during the presidure, but later we found out that it can't receive calls, or make any calls, and it cannot register to the network.The Sim is greek, and the phone was never flashed with room in the past, everything was original from Samsung.
Amy ideas?
But it does ask for pin code and reads the sim card?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
No pin, doesn't ask for it.nor locs the screen.
I looked in apn and there is nothing there.
So it doesn't recognize sim card?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I guess not.
But we have replaced it with a brand new card,same number and network.
And is the new card working?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Have you tried to input a new APN? You can get the specific APN for your carrier with an internet search or a phone call to your carrier.
The new is not working either.i tried the apns ,i have the same carrier.But it is not able to save them.
The phone is working fine when i put my own sim in it.
Go to about phone and see if your imei is empty. If it is empty then your efs got corrupt and I guess ypu don't have backup of it. If you do have a backup then restore it. Otherwise I hope you still have warranty left as your going to need it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Imei is there,checked it with both cards
So, after searching alot,i have found out, that if i disable pin it all works fine.But the screen doesn't lock, and i can't use pin.As soon as i enable pin again then no more calls.
Any ideas?

"Global System for Mobile Communications"
This technology uses a small SIM card to contain the mobile phone details such as your phone number & etc. This allows one to swap the SIM card into another phone and have it simply work. The SIM card can also store a limited number of phone numbers. The technology is used everywhere in the world, but only on AT&T and T-Mobile in America.

Not sure to understand since I'm not in those carrier and I can swap my SIM card into any other phone and it will still work. I'm in Canada and this works for any carrier for all I know. The SIM also contains phone numbers and can hold a bunch of SMS.

I forgot about the SMS storage. Your SIM card can be put into any other GSM phone. It could not be put into a Verizon phone, for example.

AT&T Forwarding question

Hey guys,
I have question regarding AT&T call forwarding. I know how to forward incoming calls on phone A to phone B, but my question is, can I forward outgoing calls from phone B to A also?
I have two AT&T phone numbers, but I don't wan't some people to know about my second phone number. Is there any way I can make phone calls on one phone, but make it appear like i'm calling from the other one?
I tried googling this like crazy, but I'm not even sure what the outgoing forwarding is called.
Thanks in advance

Wow, I've been using Google voice since 2010 for voicemail, and never took the time to look at its other features.
Thanks a lot guys

I actually still don't see an option to change the outgoing caller ID to my cellphone number.
Have you set up Google Voice to give you your own personalized phone number yet?

Yes, I've had my google voice number for about a year now. I have google voice set up on my phone for voice mail only.
From what I've read, what I'm trying to do is not possible.

No...you can't spoof it to show your "b" tele number.
It would have worked better with one att number and one Google voice number.
Unless there is an app that will do it.

I think they were suggesting you just get another Google Voice number to hide your real number. I'm guessing you can't use the same Google Voice number on multiple phones at the same time, but worth a try I suppose...

activating my rezound

Hi i just got my rezound in the mail from Ebay. I'm trying to activate it by dialing *228 but it keeps saying on the screen "sim card activated updating roaming capabilities" or something like that. Every other phone all i had to do was dial *228 and follow the instructions then put in my number and done. What am i doing wrong?. By the way it has a Sim card that came with it and clean esn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The SIM has to be provisioned to your account. Either call Verizon, or take it to a Verizon store.

yep. the sim needs to be programmed with your account info. you should be able to call 611 and then tell them to activate the phone.
I tried 611 and *611 only get that fast busy signal .any other numbers to try?

i have been told the 228 doesn't work for 4g sim cards, only normal phones without sims i think not sure.
You need to call the Verizon 1 (800) # to activate the sim card. You can also give the rep the IMEI on the phone. Turn phone off and then back on and it should automatically activate.
i could be wrong but i believe you may need a new sim card from either verizon store or there site..they are free. i had this problem when it tried reactivating my rezound. i was told the 4g sim was a one shot deal and were good for one activation. someone correct me please if im wrong.

It may be the they are only good for one person and can't be transferred. Never really thought about it. You can, however, move the SIM between phones as much as you want once it's activated.
Thanx everyone. I called Verizon from a landline and got it activated in minutes.

AT&T Sim Cards are back w/Straight Talk!

Is there a way I can get my Verizon S4 to work with a Straight Talk AT&T SIM card?! Please say yes, so I can get rid of this expensive A$$ bill?!

Yes I'm using my at&t straight talk sim on the verizon s4 and it works great!
Is there anything special I have to do with my phone? When I order the sim card from straight talk it won't let me select the cdma option so, should I just select gsm as if I have a AT&T Galaxy S4?

CDMA does not use SIM cards. The S4 is a CDMA/GSM/LTE device. AT&T is a GSM network.
You might have to edit the APN settings to use Straight Talk.

The Verizon S4 is a CDMA phone AND a GSM phone. I believe they made it this way so you can go to about any other country in the world and still use your phone - or it was just cheaper to mass produce the radios with everything in it.
Anyway the only thing to change is the APN settings to
Name=Straight Talk
APN=att.mvno
Proxy=proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port=80
MMSC=http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy=mms2.tracfone.com
works perfect. However I did just find a small problem. I have flashed both cyanogenmod and Liquidsmooth AOSP ROMS and they do not work with at&t ST sim - when I call the phone it does not answer or register the call at all. Not sure what the problem is, seems like for some reason it is not registering with the at&t network. Trying to find a fix. However, the phone has worked fine with all TW based ROMS I've tried.
Ok thanks for the information but I have one more question... I am rooted with Clean Rom 1.5, do I have to unroot my phone? Will I still be able use wife tether or foxfi? I heard AT&T took foxfi away.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Oops just saw that you messaged me - yes just choose GSM. You do not have to unroot your phone but like I said in the last post - I cannot get AOSP roms to receive or make calls - data works - but not phone calls - which is rather strange and I'm sure can be fixed but nothing I have tried seems to work.
GSM is fine but in reality once you get the right LTE bands turned on, would it be better in global?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What kind of data do you see on AT&T? HSPA+? 3G? 2G?
