Seen a lot of offers for IMEI unlock code for jetstream around the net. Anyone tried that? fake?
Having mine shipped tomm to the middle east...already obtained the IMEI and had it unlocked by one of those sites you mentioned...will update next week when I receive it
I got mine sent to me by a friend in the states, it was bought without a plan and came locked to at&t, I called them and explained I live in Australia but they said they couldn't unlock it. I was able to get an unlock code and made a video about it here http://youtu.be/a8eN0roRxHQ
Now it is unlocked hope that helps
Thank you everybody for feedback!
Great News - will try unlocking my HTC JetStream which will use a Middle East carrier data SIM & will update - thanks for the hint !!!
Perfectly unlocked to used with any SIM, I paid 25$ to HTCIMEIUNLOCK, waited 15 minutes, got the unlocking code, entered it and ...WOW !!! SIM unlocked.
Working perfectly on ORANGE network in Israel. If anyone wants to see here it is:

Thank you for the feedback, everybody! Definitely going to find some one with US social security number now!
Buying from outside the USA
I saw these people will sell to international customers. I do not know anything about them, though.
I have ordered mine from AT&T through a friend.

Hm Interesting.
I got my hands on a HTC jetstream test machine for their engineers and it didn't come locked. Had AT&T Logos on it as well. Could just be because it was for the Taiwan Engineers so they didn't lock it. Quite interesting.
Can anyone verified if Jetstream gets 3G/3.5G speed on US T-Mobile sim card with AWS frequency? Or just edge? Someone from XDA posted the Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcZlljP62Ew&feature=youtu.be) video saying it works on Orange network, but I realized the device was only getting "edge".

Hi,
Was wondering if the sim unlock will cause a change in the root or if the root could interfere with the sim unlock or if any future updates will revert the sim unlock to sim lock?
Wanted to be sure before unlocking the sim.

I unlocked my Jetstream a couple of months ago. I rooted the jetstream last week and didn't see any issues. Although now I am bricked because of an unrelated reason. But you won't see any problems with unlocking your SIM.

Rooted first but now cannot sim unlock
Hello Everyone,
I have a Jetstream ATT which I rooted with developer d00mlord's stuff. Recently I decided to unlock it from the ATT network. The unlock code says unlock successful, but after rebooting it comes back up with the same locked screen. This will happen over and over again. This is happening with an ATT sim card too, so that I cannot use the data features with anything but wifi. The company who provided the unlock code tells me it may be due to the tablet having been rooted, and that I will need to factory reset everything. So, I am hoping that someone might be able to tell me what I should do. I have noticed that this thread addresses the sim unlock first and then a root afterwards, but not the other way around. I cannot seem to find a thread that is more relevant. This is my first posting and I am brand n00b so thank you very much for even reading this over.
when you say locked screen..what exactly do you mean?
for other sims to work you need to add a proper APN (maybe even for at&t after the unlocking). try googling: "the name of your provider + APN settings"
and add it to the settings>wireless>mobile networks
Hey Guys,
I've heard that Verizon has their S4 carrier unlocked by default...is this true, google has been saying so, but I wondered if anyone here had experienced it first hand?
If not, is their a carrier unlock that someone could direct me to?
Thanks

This is a very frequently asked question, but Yes, the Verizon S4 is carrier unlocked.
I put a SIM from a UK provider in my phone and it came up GSM on AT&T. No unlock needed.

@SteelH or @Deathsnuggle are you able to dump some partitions for me? You are the only people that I have found that is Sim Unlocked on Sprint.
I have successfully found the partition for GSM devices that contains the Sim Lock information using my AT&T M9. I am now trying to unlock my Sprint M9 (as I do not live in USA).
See more at this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/sim-unlock-method-t3143333
Thanks in advance

Hi guys, anybody here using the unlocked version of LG G6? I preordered mine off BH Photo Video and it arrived yesterday.
Was browing the threads and forums and haven't seen any regarding the unlocked version. My carrier is AT&T but I hate carrier phones since my experience with AT&T LG G5.
I saw lots of threads about how to access the hidden menu and stuff and tried it myself but didn't work so I was hoping some of you here uses the unlocked version and knows how to do that stuff.
Thanks!

I won the LGUS997 version in a drawing and I'm currently using it on cricket. Works just fine but would love to have this thing rooted.

Nope. LG did something stupid again like they did with the G4. They made the us cellular version and us unlocked version the exact same model number. I thought they had learned because with the G5 they differentiated the model number for the us unlocked version, but they went back to old habits I guess. So there are two variants of the us997:
US997: US cellular
US997: USA unlocked variant

Yea because on LG's website for redeeming the promo, the unlocked version and US cellular had different tabs. Do you have any idea how I access the hidden menu on USA unlocked?

No sorry, don't have the device so can't test. Maybe try putting a 0 in front of behind the 997 though, not sure. I'm guessing they wanted to differentiate the access code for the two different software versions but not sure. The code should be what was posted just different would be the 997 part.

Just noticed you posted that you tried:
Code:
*#546638#*997#
It should be:
Code:
*#546368#*997#
At least from my research that 2nd code should work

Not sure then
In a few days, my phone will be receiving an OEM unlock option. I tried checking whether my bootloader is locked or unlocked. I've only seen one Google result where someone said Samsung locks their bootloaders. So Samsung locks their bootloaders, right? And if so, is it a royal pain in the ass like an AT&T phone? I've been trying to install a ROM onto my AT&T Galaxy S4 and that has been.....lord have mercy.
This is my first unlocked phone (my S9+). I know 'unlocked' refers to the CARRIER and not the bootloader. But once root options are available, how hard is this going to be for an unlocked phone?
Also, when I look for ROMs, root methods or whatnot, do I have to search for kernels/ROMs/whatever for the Unlocked version or can I use an alternative (like a Verizon S9 and it will be the same).
OEM Unlock no way jose
Waited weeks now still not there
Enabling OEM unlock doesn't mean you will be able to unlock the bootloader.

The USA G965 phones would have a locked bootloader regardless of if it came from a carrier or not. Searching seems to indicate that because the bootloader can't be unlocked yet then the OEM unlock won't appear (or it doesn't do anything at all).
.
As for unlocking the bootloader I imagine it is a real PITA. I would imagine that any sort of bootloader unlock would probably come around (or after) a root method is found. Now when that will happen is not certain
any progress toward unlocking the bootloader of the SM-G965U1 ? I bought this Samsung phone from Samsung, and would hope that developers are finding some way to cure the decisions that seem to be in place.
Even though it is supposed to be Unlocked, that probably meant only OEM unlocked, and even then I don't see it directly as an option in settings.

"Unlocked" in this context means SIM unlocked. It also means that it is free of carrier branding and apps. It cannot be rooted.

does that mean that the SIM unlock in this version is ALWAYS present, or should the option show up or be triggered in some way?
It is a nice phone, but it is disappointing that root seems out of reach.
Additionally, I don't seem to get as good a signal as I did with the S5 with TMobile CSC and LineageOS, , in the same location in the middle of the city.

It only means that the firmware is intended to be loaded on phones Samsung sells, which would be SIM unlocked (assuming you didn't buy a carrier version from Samsung). There is no "SIM unlock" option or anything like that. The phone is either SIM locked or it isn't, regardless of firmware.
In any case, none of that has to do with rooting the phone, which remains impossible.
Signal strength has been worse for me on S9+ (all firmwares I've tried) than the older S7 Edge I had. Different phones with different hardware. Not much firmware can do about that.
