My phone P769 10g ICS rooted. Everything worked until i decided to try RemountSD app. It didn't work, i uninstalled. Had to reset the phone because music player couldn't scan media files. After resetting phone music player worked but something happened to the root and still no wifi. Can't connect to any network. Installing CWM 1.5.0.0 only made it worse. Not properly installed possibly because of root problems or something else is wrong.
Is it possible to emergency flash it through PC/LG software with kdz either rooted or unrooted, JB or ICS. I just need a working phone in case i have to RMA or if reflashing helps with WIFI even better. WIFI passed service code diagnostic.
If you can turn on the phone, use the normal kdz flashing method
If the normal kdz flash method doesn't work try turning off your phone and doing it in s/w upgrade mode. Set the kdz to emergency mode. Either way you should be able to get your phone back. Good luck.

I can turn on the phone everything seems to works except for wifi and something possibly wrong with root as a result of installing/removing RemountSD app. I don't have a working CWM to do rooted JB or ICS KDZ.
Can someone link me to the standard kdz flash thread? Thanks.
It's ppb the general section of the thread. Should say something like ROM or KDZ files in the heading.

Will use this method to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
Not sure if i will lose root and don't really care at this point. I'm more curious why WIFI stopped connecting and root got damaged after factory reset and if the factory KDZ will fix WIFI.
Tried flashing JB KDZ in phone update window get "Updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG Mobile phone software update". In lower right corner small window "Please check your internet line and execute program again. Continue/Cancel".
Solved. Bad KDZ dowload.
Unsolved. Phone stuck in S/W Upgrade mode. Screen on. USB device not recognized. Bricked.
I think I know why cwm didn't work for you, I noticed you are on p769 10g, that 1.5 is for jelly bean, try using the 1.4 version. That's if your busybox is working properly, and restore someone's cwm backup.

I got this error at one point too. DONT FRET, IT'S FIXABLE.... This is what I did... Open your control panel on your PC, and goto add/remove programs. I uninstalled EVERYTHING LG related. Reboot. Reinstalled everything, as if I just got the phone and was just starting out. Once it's all installed again, you should be fine.
For reference, what prompted me to do this was this page: http://mobility.forumsee.com/a/m/s/...-fix-page-error-ºiºðao-when-flashing-kdz.html
Your results may vary, but I didn't have to do what's listed on that page. You "might" have to. Good luck
EDIT: Don't forget...Some apps HAVE to be run in compatibility mode, and MUST be run as administrator.
I agree, rooting this device is not easy, I decided to make a how to video, starting off fresh, for noobs, but when I got to the flashing part, it failed three times. The first was the not connected error, so I turned on the phone then flashed, and it worked. However, the second time, while making the video, I ran in to a new error, at the part when it states checking battery level, it was telling me that I needed to charge the the phone to continue, but the phone was at 100% . I tried it on both of my laptops and Same error, so as of right now, I'm have to drain it to about. 80% then try. I hope this works (fingers crossed) so much for the video. I must be tired, time to sleep (note to self, don't go 24 hours without sleep and try to root and make a video)
good night y'all

Ok hold down the power button for ten seconds. Then do the s/w upgrade mode again. I know they say to do it while the phone is on when you are on jb but didn't work for me. Good luck dude and don't worry about it you'll figure it out just like you did the last time. Hey I was once out of a phone from Friday morning until Monday afternoon. Hi all. trying to do offline root and flash.
did it once, but i tried to unlock bootloader a month later and tragedy occurred. got replacement few days ago.
for some reason, when following guide, when i try to install updater tool, the LG logo flashes up on taskbar quickly, then goes away.
i check, and the program is not installed. i tried downloading it from another site, and it hangs on installation. about 10 percent done.
when i try to run the kdz flash, it tells me the tool isn't installed.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. with rooted JB, this isn't a bad little phone. without root, it sucks.
i'm on v10g
p769 t-mo
Sounds like you skipped a few steps. I did the same thing. Rooted then accidentally flashed non rooted file. So had to root again and I thought I knew how to do it so I just buried through the steps and if didn't work. You have to follow each and every step and don't forget to replace the bin file! Good luck.

been over and over it. LG mobile software tool won't install. when I click BC2App.exe, the logo briefly flashes in task bar, but goes away. when I run the offline flash tool, it says bc2app not set up. when I search for LG mobile updater tool, nowhere to be found on laptop

poop. third time I've posted reply. not sticking.
I didn't get the girl on small server. BUT, first time I rooted first LG, I never saw her either. tried 6 times, finally went ahead and tried flashing with success.
I seem to remember something about Windows enabler then too, but can't find a reference for it.
I'm running my internet off of hotspot at the moment too, could that have something to do with LG mobile update tool not installing? I try to install, but it closes. looked everywhere on laptop. not installed.
when I try flashing, it tells me it's not installed. to click tools, install. I do that, it says complete, but it's not.
thought of something to try. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow
possibly solved. LG mobile support tool finally installed at least. Will go through entire root process tomorrow and see if it is working.

Can you elaborate on this? I've tried to use the Smartflashtool to fix this problem and haven't had any luck.
Havent used it in a long time, but in fact you only need smartflashtool (sft), the fls file you extacted from the kdz file and that's basically it. Reboot your phone in download mode and open sft. In there change to the correct tab, choose your fls (dont remember which field, since it is REALLY long ago) hit start and it should update your baseband.

Great idea but how do you get past the magic number does not match issue? If you have the model.dll file for the p769 could you please forward so I can replace the one I have. Mine is for the 940

Like I said, I only inserted the fls file and there was no magic number error.
Maybe check the p970 forum, there is another version of SFT. Maybe it was this one, that worked.
Well that would be great if we could get that to work for our phone because it take like three minutes to flash. This would be an alternate to the offline flash.

Ok again:
It works to flash the BASEBAND ONLY!
It does NOT and I repeat N O T work for the full firmware.
For this to work we would need a new modell.dll, which we probably can only get from LG itself, or a REALLY good reverse engineer here on the forum. But I really doubt anyone wants to do this. I was also talking to xonar_ and he is like an android god to me. He confirmed, that it's very hard, up to impossible to get this to work. I also tested a pack made by him, but it also wouldnt work. If anyone is interested, go ahead an contact him. He is a really nice guy and explains everything very much in detail, if you nicely ask for

Fixed my touch screen on LG P769
I am now able to fix my wonky touch screen finally. Thank God.
After spending the whole day Saturday to unlock the bootloader and install custom rom, I finally gave up after 24 hours. Next I wanted my phone to be in working condition by Sunday night.
I just flashed the stock kdz (V20h) for t-mobile usa. I had this one originally. My display was okay (after initial switch off and on) but touch was still not good.
After that I just did root my phone and installed Super Su. as mentioned in other threads
Then followed the command to cat v6.bin into some firmware file, as mentioned in other threads. It feels so good to get the touch screen working again.
The display is still mirrored when phone boots, but first time i switch off the screen and on again, and it's fixed.
I will edit this post, later with more details and links later.
Also, I did a Factory Data reset, after flashing v20h kdz. But I believe it was not required. In fact, it was very difficult to enter passwords for wifi, google play account etc with the wonky touch screen.
Sounds like you got it under control. Here is a zip file Kuma made that I use when I try to unlock bootloader. Sometimes I have to install it twice but it's the fastest way to get back to normal

I installed one of those sd mounting apps and it didn't work so i uninstalled but then my music player stopped working. I had a message "scan media files first" so i did factory reset and now everything works except i can't connect to any WIFI network. The phone is stuck on "obtaining ip address" and one time i saw the message "avoiding poor network connections" when i'm near my home router with excellent signal strength. I did factory reset several times, avoid poor connections is unchecked, reset router but wasn't necessary all computers connect no problems, password is correct, phone can't connect to any network.
I don't want to RMA it its my only phone. Is there a fix or a rooted JB rom without any bugs that i can load and fix this problem? The phone is useless without wifi. I don't have a data plan.

list down each and everything YOU did.
not what the guide said, but what you did.
You have to use both the offline fix method along with the lelus root method together. I've done it several times, don't skip anything just because you think it's already installed it you really don't need it. Oh and you have to REPLACE the bin file and not just put it in there. Replace the file. Good luck.

Did
0) Precautions:
___A) Select "Debugging Mode" as ON (Ticked) in Phone Settings (Developer Section)
___B) Select "Install from Unknown Sources" as ON (Ticked) in Phone Settings (Security Section)
download Download LGP769_AP[6].bin and FACTORY KDZ OF V10G USA TMOBILE or here 4 links.
(bin by foister82, perfect and tested ok)
2) FOR ICS Download >>> Root_and_Flash_Guide_byCMahendra(date).zip
extract and got "Now you will get three folders named "C:\RootLelus" and "C:\RootFlash" and "C:\shttps""
All of step 3 though 11.
I did it twice because I was not fast enough to replace the bin file in step 11 for the 1st attempt.

You have to use both the offline fix method along with the lelus root method together. yes, I did
Sorry buddy the method works. I've don't it several times. You are going to have to figure out what step you are missing. Like the other guy said you have to list all the steps you did then you will see what you missed. Good luck.

Don't get me wrong. I don't mean the guide is no good. Just looking for tips to get my phone rooted.
Thanks.
During the flashing process, if I see the bin files are being created in c:\programdata\lgmobileax\phone. Does it mean all my drivers and stuff are installed correctly in the prior steps?
Download Jota Text Editor form Play Store use it to open /system/hdcp.sh
Is there a line with "/data/local/tmp/rooting.sh"

That file is locked. I can't even downloaded it to my PC.
It means that everything is ruining the way it's suppose to be and its no problem, I was telling you that it works so that you know it's not just something we are trying to do so you don't give up. Didn't work the first two times for me because I thought I didn't need to download the update tool because I already had one downloaded.

Thanks. I think I need to take a break and re-read the instruction again and take my time to do it again.
Finally got it. Not sure what steps I missed the first 2 times but now my phone is rooted!
Congrats! Now be sure to make a backup!

Sorry.
Hi,
Sorry for my poor English, I'll try my best to explain my problem:
I have a L9 Optimus L9 P769 (T-Mobile). JellyBean 4.1.2, software is P76920f.
I rooted it a month ago using the LGpwn method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338816 ) and it worked fine.
Last week, there was an update (20f I guess), and also a SuperSu update (1.51) and since then, it seems than I am not rooted any more.
I have the infamous message from superSu that says "there is no su binary installed, and supersu cannot install it. this is a problem!".
I tried re-root, no luck.
I tried phone recovery (factory reset)+root. No luck
Every time I install/reinstall superSU (last version or previous version), i have the same message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks
Any idea ? :crying:

Yes, it is checked...
The thing is that it has been successfully rooted, and now, it is not. I always have that message from SuperSU every time I try to launch it.
I installed rootchecker, and of course it says that my phone is not rooted.

Disable supersu and enable again. If still have problems delete supersu and install superuser. Should have root access again, if not then idk. Did you update ota when you had root?
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 4
Already tried that (but thanks anyway)... well, I mean uninstall/reinstall superSU. I can not Disable/Enable, I have not acess to supersu settings, it FC after displaying the message about missing library.
And yes, I was root when I updated (20f) OTA.
I just don't get it... there might be a solution. I've checked, spritebud is here. There is a .su file in system/bin/.ext.
I've googled my problem and found people with the same, but none of the fix worked (well, there was no specific for 20f afak)

Well just a heads up, never update when you have root. Will take away root. You have to use ota rootkeeper in order to keep it. I recommend you to flash 20d and update ota then re-root

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow :fingers-crossed:.
Well... I flashed the 20f this morning, then tried to install SuperSU, same problem: "the is no SU Binary installed... blah blah blah"
Other ideas ? (flash 20d ?)
You have to run the LGPWN fast, don't take your time and read each pop up. The first time I used it, I did it slow and read all directions, and it didn't root my phone. However, the second time I tried, I did it fast (didn't read anything) and it worked. You might just be running jcase root app to slow.
Good Luck
