I am looking for a XPERIA Mini Pro (mango) kernel that has USB_SERIAL built in or as a module.
I realize I could go the extra mile and compile my own, but I thought I should ask first!
(I need it to talk to my arduino)

Hi!
I wonder if there is a repository somewhere which contains the current attempts for loading custom kernels on the Mini Pro. I read that the kexec/miniloader approach might work there, too, but there was an issue with loading the actual kernel (maybe something misbuilt there). I am not particularly scared by messing around with development code which does not work yet, but I think I would be wasting my time if I started from scratch. So where would I start? By using the X10 kexec/miniloader code and building a kernel off the SE sources? Or is there any newer/more fitting codebase?
hey all,
just wondering...
- what is the current status for getting custom kernels running on the x10 mini / mini pro?
- has development of a kexec module or something similar begun based on code written for other phones?
- if so, does anybody know how far people have gotten? what difficulties are we facing at the moment in those regards?
i'm wondering because if nobody has started working on a kexec module then i thought i might try, but if someone is already working on it then i'd be glad to lend a hand if needed / if i can...
cheers,
uriah

here is the development thread for bootloader bypassing (on x8, but our phones are "twined" )
it is a dev thread, so don't post anything unless you're a dev.
link is here
answers to your questions may be there
i cant put the link cause my post, but u can serarch this in google
"how to build a linux kernel" sony ericsson
is from the original dev SE team

this link is only for open bootloader.
it is unuseful for now ^^
here is the link you are talking about: blogs.sonyericsson.com/wp/2011/05/06/how-to-build-a-linux-kernel/

a kexec module is a kernel module which reconstructs the kexec functionality (which allows one to execute a kernel from within another kernel) that the linux kernel can have. usually kexec support needs to be built into the kernel (i.e. not a module), but by loading modules such as splboot (which is the kexec module that is being developed in the X8 bootloader bypassing thread based on work that was done for the X10) one can execute a kernel from within the current kernel even if kexec support wasn't built into it.
[EDIT] actually, splboot doesn't exactly reconstruct kexec support, but does something similar. see this post and the few that follow for more details.
Greetings, as devs seem do abandon this community quite quickly (and yes, I undersnad why), I'd like to ask, how could one compile his own rom. Ow more precisely, what changes are needed after compiling a clean CM for i.e. HTC Hero or ZTE Blade to make it work on Mini Pro?
Thanks in advance for your answers
Take a rom say AOSP, put compatible drivers and some further tweaks, edit framework, delete/put apps in system/app and make compatible hw_config.sh n build.pro do some more deleting/addind and u'll get a custom rom!
Hi there!
It's my first post here and since I really can't help CM7 team, I just need to know something:
Is android camera apk dependant of the installed kernel or ROM?
I'm curious because after months of reading, I went ahead and installed CM7.2 on my both phones, Xperia Mini and Xperia PLAY. Both are working way better than when I had stock sw (kernel and ROM) installed, but one little missing resource bothered me: Xperia Play camera can't shoot HD videos anymore, only 480p ones.
I really just want to know if I can expect something better in the next realeases of FXP or not, that's all!
First, if this thread should be in general can someone move it pls.
Now to my question. I know that for example the samsung galaxy s has a similar hw as our phones and can have the new kernel, but i never saw a kernel for our phones higher than 2.6. Does anybody know if we can or cant(and why) use the new version cause it has a better security system
Some developers are working on a 3.0 kernel and there are already some threads about that
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.1
Porting kernel is not a simple task. Fxp team whom currently working on the project to bring kernel 3.x to xperia 2011 gen said it would take atleast six months, or would take forever ie it would never come to our phone.
is it really necessary?
Do we really need kernel 3.0 on our devices?
because I have read here and they say its almost same as old kernel "OR SAME AS OLD KERNEL "
