VRAMC3 is the newest OTA released by VZW, there are only minor changes, it is just an upgrade to 4.1.2 and therefore a lot of the under the hood stuff has been changed but not much that you will notice. The biggest problem with it is it had our bootloader unlock blocked but Adam and the team found a way around that and now VRAMC3 users are able to unlock.
If you're unlocked you can just flash one of the VRAMC3 ROMs and use the mod.

I am on beans 12, which is VRALL. I flashed the VRAM and it works fine. I couldn't tell much difference, but maybe that is because i am on the old rom.

I have been seeing a lot of stuff about the update and I was wondering what exactly I should do about it. Currently I'm on cleanROM 4.0.5 with twrp installed, do I need to do the OTA update if I like what I have now? If so should i revert back to stock firmware before doing it? Is the new update rootable/does it come with a differently locked bootloader? Thanks

wrong thread , sorry
Excuse my newness but this is a bit confusing. Since I have flashed my phone back to stock from being rooted/unlocked using LGNPST, not using my original bootloader backup from freegee or anything like that...just straight from the tutorial in irc, the rom and all....will i be able to get an at&t jellybean update ota when they finally decide to release it? It seems there was an OTA update to E97011c and I am at E97010o right now and it says no update available. Does that mean I can't get ota updates now? I can't seem to find a direct answer to this.

you should be able to flash the new ROM through lgpnst and mabey the ota. I think there was a problem with the latest ota for people rooted and unrooted.... And there should be custom ROMs based off of the new release that you could flash through recovery if I'm not mistaken

Right, but does unlocking/rooting/installing canadian JB, then unrooting and relocking bar me in any way from receiving future offical ota updates from at&t? I've probably been phrasing the question wrong
You will be able to ota. The process the use to tell if you are eligible is just odd, so sometimes it can take a few days / weeks to get it.

This answered my question. Thanks for the reply.
I am still on the VRALJB baseband, I am assuming I can't use the casual one click method and that I have to do it this way?

Just want to make sure before I dive into this. Thanks.

Follow the instructions listed and you should be updated in no time. That is making sure that you are not on the OTA. One Clicks do seem to work for most users, most of the time.
will adams casual method work with newest ota update vramc3?
It gets stuck at the end of the exploit.Its weird im rooted but not unlocked any suggestions???
And to clarify, you can use Casual on VRALJB. You can't use it on VRAMC3. There is no current unlock method for AMC3.
Thanks for the reply!!

Say I'm running MDK 4.2.2, I have a custom recovery installed, and then 4.3 comes out. Could I just wait for a dev to release their own flashable version of TouchWiz 4.3 with the unlocked bootloader and MDK baseband? Or would it not be the same as updating to 4.3 OTA (so, would the update not be as "good")? Sorry if this is a really noob question. Thanks!

Never take an update from Samsung/Verizon. At least as long as we have developer support just wait for a flashable ROM to be released.
BTW - the baseband is not relevant on this issue. You can flash a new radio if you choose. I've seen no reason to but many have.

A method by Surge1223 to upgrade to NC5, 4.4.2, from MK2.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868
No bootloader unlock exists, you can't run AOSP roms. There's multiple 4.4.2 TW roms in the android development section
Is the 4.4 ota update worth it or not really ? Says there is better battery and faster. But is it worth no root ?

Surge's method referenced in the previous post retains root.

no boot loader unlock exist, for the locked bootloader safestrap must be used
you need to read the following thread

my understanding that unless u are 100% stock and that means NO root, the OTA will mess up.

There is currently 2 aosp 4.3 roms for safestrap. Although they are very buggy.

Not precisely. You can be rooted but otherwise stock and manage to take the OTA successfully. That will leave you unrooted.
My phone was rooted factory stock and would have taken the OTA successfully if not for a single modified file left behind by an older version of SuperSU and a file modified by Safestrap. If Safestrap wasn't active and without that old SuperSU thing it would have taken the OTA.
From a practical standpoint, you're right. Unless you're stock, there's a good chance the OTA will fail to start. And keep nagging you each time it fails.

If you are on MK2, than you have a locked bootloader, which as of today is STILL UNLOCKABLE!!!!
Therefore, there is no AOSP ROMS avaiable for us, SafeSTrap users, which means that we can only flash TW based ROMS!
there are tons of ROMs for us, SS users, and the first 3 ROMs that pop into my mind which are the best of the best for us i337 AT&T users with MK2 locked bootloaders is these:
SHOstock-i v7.0 ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468860
Deadly Venom v3.0.2 ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447482
HyperDrive ==> Android 4.3 RLS15 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520418
HyperDrive ==> KitKat 4.4.2 RLS17 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301724
And here is an INDEX for ALL ROMS for the Galaxy S4, 4.3 and 4.4.2 ...this here is the best forum there is for our S4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616221
If I helped you, please hit THANKS, it's not that hard...
I have spoke of surge's upgrade/downgrade methods before. He is a senior member here on xda. The other method I know of, as far as upgrade/downgrade, is giglies. Giglies method came out after. It's fewer steps but the documentation could use an overhaul. If you see a post around the s4 forums with surge's name on it, I bet a lot of people are going to see what he has to say about it

with towel root now available for use on NC5 phones, the need to upgrade/downgrade really is no longer a driving force.
