Right now i am on a 2 year contract with verizon, i know contracts sucks, imma get my next phone with virgin mobile when my contract ends. Would S-OFF turn my phone unlocked or would it void my contract?

DNA is already unlocked for GSM use.
If by "unlock" you mean carrier unlocking, then no. If its bootloader unlock you mean, then yes. This doesn't void your contract, but it does void your warranty and there is risk of bricking your phone.

I was just wondering do I have any warranty on my phone if I bought the phone for full price from tmobile? Tmobile won't do **** for me if anything happens right? But I still have Samsungs warranty for hardware and stuff right? (would just have to unroot and send it in?)

It shouldn't matter where you bought the phone. Hell, you could have gotten it on craigslist, but as long as you can activate the phone under your plan, and pay for the protection plan each month, you should be covered.
Assuming that it is a phone that TMobile sells that is. TMobile just offers the coverage as a feature, Asurion is the one that covers the claims. If it was something that was a manufacturer defect/issue, then you would go through TMobile for either a repair or replacement.
Okay well I'm on a monthly 4G prepaid plan. I talked to a representative and asked if I could get and pay for the monthly insurance plan and he said no not for prepaid. That's why I was wondering. I'll try looking into 3rd party insurance then I guess

I am tired of toggling airplane mode to get my data to turn back on. Yes I am on the latest everything 3.16 and have had this problem since launch day. Doesn't unlocking your bootloader void this warranty? I also don't have TEP so I think my odds of walking into Sprint and getting a new phone is very slim. Has anyone ever exchanged their phone before in my situation?

Nevermind I called Sprint and told them I'm tired of it so they are giving me a new S3 for $50. I bought insurance thru GoCare.com and will get back at least $50 back for the cancellation of the remainder of my insurance. Off to the S3 boards I go!!

That's what many people think but isn't necessarily the case. When my gyroscope was being defective, I just re-locked my bootloader so that it actually said "RE-LOCKED" and Sprint was happy to exchange my phone for a new Evo LTE. I have also heard of this happening to many other people.

I plan to return my EVO tomorrow to avoid ETF. My question is, is it ok if I leave my EVO S-off and Unlocked?
Thank you!

not clear as to how you're avoiding an ETF by returning a year-old phone, but in any case: it seems unnecessarily risky to return your phone S-OFF and unlocked, as it's considered a violation of your warranty.
you could easily return it to locked and S-ON status, why not take half an hour and do it real quick?

Thanks for the link tho.
May be a dumb question but my contract ends tomorrow and I have unlimited data. Do I have to upgrade or renew my contract with Verizon? I want to stay with Verizon but don't want to lose my unlimited data.

No, not at all. You're just eligible to leave to another carrier or receive a subsidy on a new phone (for extending your contract of course). Otherwise your service plan will just stay the same. I was out of contract for a good year before I got my S4 in June.
Keep in mind if you accept a phone at subsidized price and agree to another 2 yr contract term you will lose your unlimited data.

Oh no lol I'm not getting rid of my unlimited unless they make me. For the last 2yrs I have been trading phones every couple of months. There's always someone will to trade if you have a current phone. I will probably be getting the note 3 and giving my wife the s4.
So I went the international chat section of the Sprint website. I got in touch with a rep who looked into my account.
They said that the sim unlock need to be requested as I've unlocked my phone once in 12 months. My previous phone was an HTC One, which I called for unlocking in 6/2013.
Anyways, the request was put in..
I got an email back today stating that it wasn't approved.
This email is intended to confirm that your request to unlock your device has been received by our Back Office group and has been reviewed.
Unfortunately at this time we are unable to complete your device unlock request. The policy only allows one unlock within a 12 calendar month period. Since a device has already been unlocked during the past 12 months, no additional unlocks may be processed.

How would I go about unlocking the sim since I need to use it on my trip to Asia? Without calling Sprint.
bump
You can't, Sprint has to do it. It makes no sense to me to deny unlocking because you decided to get a new phone. I would e-mail [email protected] and [email protected] and tell them what's going on. If that doesn't get it solved, nothing will.
So the really sucks. If you buy a Sprint phone at full price, then want to unlock it, they won't if you already have asked them to unlock a phone within a year.... That's bs

you can probably temporarily swap the phone with the one on another liine (if you have one or a friend on sprint), ask Sprint to unlock then swap back?

Not sure if that will work. It might? I think either you have to be a Sprint Customer for a certain amount of time or you have to have the phone on your account for a certain amount of time.

Note 3 doesn't come unlocked for international sim if you put one in without getting Sprint to unlock it will just say invalid sim .... Sprint reps are freaking idiots

I didn't have a chance to test it but I agree when it comes to their "knowledge". On my previous unlock request they transferred me to department who provide prices for international calls.

Can you call Sprint to unlock a Note 3 if you're not a sprint customer (For International Use)
I called sprint today. They refused to unlock my phone for international use because I'm not a customer. They said since my phone was never on the sprint network, they couldn't do it. My phone is on Ringplus, an mvno.
