I wonder if anyone has seriously started thinking about making it.I know i am not the only one who who would like to see ics for our device Any info, or progress?
I wonder too
It would be so nice to see our little device running ICS...
That is possible.
Its possible the xda member pax0r said that he would try to build it.Right now hes developing CM7 but I think that he will also make ICS/CM9

Seaech button would tell you that g model has diffrent cpu, so I9100 roms would only brick I9100G

Hasn't there any fix for that yet or will it ever be available ??

Any fix for what ? Different hardware = borked phone if you flash I9100 firmware on a I9100G. Pretty straightforward really.

I mean like other features are same in both models except processor, can there be made a fix(cwm flashable zip) to change the processor related files in firmware ???

different chipset
different drivers
different rom
get the original i9100 if you want to flash roms
It won't be available.
You have two different types of hardware and you want to run the same OS on them? That's a no go.

And, what about porting?
I try to but need some explanations on an error.
I mean if there is only different cpu and gpu, we "just" have to change driver, some lib files and perhaps some configuration files to adapt.
I will try to ask some help in the hd2 threat, they are king of porting rom!

If it would be that easy you would have every possible flavor of any rom available now. The reason you don't is that you have to have a proper kernel, drivers,... well actually everything apart from some bundled apps.
It just won't happen or it would already. You would have a HTC Sensation running a Samsung ICS rom but you don't. The hardware is just too different.
Hey guys i have been checking the differnt forums witht the phones i have and noticed that a dev is porting 3.x kernel to the lg optimus me p350 and its working.. how come no one whnts to do it to this phone. Im now convinced that it can be done. Imsure that if a phone worse and slowrr than ace can get it im sure we can.. i would like to try but its way out of my knowledge

I was wondering how hard it is to port a kernel for our device. I would like to port one of my favorite n7 kernels like motley or bricked, or possibly port one of the current sense-only kernels. I found one guide on XDA but the instructions were kind of vague.

Is there a reason why devs don't have USB OTG compiled into the kernel? Now before y'all start telling me that it's a hardware thing, go do a search. There are numerous threads for other devices, that do not have OTG in stock, yet when compiled in it works. For some it's not that simple, but I'm willing to go buy a adapter and experiment if some devs could give me a kernel to test. Lots of devices have been successful with OTG if they have an external power source. Some devices can even have their firmware/kernel modified to power the devices.
It is compiled into the cm kerenel
