[Q] App Backgrounds - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello everybody! I am running stock Motoblur .16 at the moment, and was wondering if anybody knows what file to replace in order to change the app background. (By app background, i mean the gradient grey image in the back of apps such as settings). I would like to have this be black, without having to waste internal storage by flashing a whole new Rom. I have already created a 960x540 image for it, i just don't know where to put it. I did find one tutorial on how to do this, but i think it was for an earlier android version, because the file that i had to edit was not anywhere to be found. Anybody have a suggestion? Thanks!

How do I change my icons?

Yes, noob question here, and yes I'm a noob at this.
I want to change the way my icons look, so I downloaded an APK ZIP file that has the icons I want. Now, what would be my next step to install them?
Thanks!
There's an app in the android market called Better Cut that allows you to take images that are stored on your SD card, and make them your application icons. To permanently change your app icon you need to root your device, and the extract the APK. Then you can change the image from there, but you would also need to download an APK signer because the moment you change the APK it changes its signature with which it is packed with.
+1 for Better Cut. I bought this app shortly after getting my g1 when it first came out.. still an awesome purchase to this day!

[Q] Just a couple font querstions

okay, first of all, is it possible to just add a font for minimalistic text? and if so, where would i put it? and.. i am working on getting my little theme together, and went though the Ubuntu font flash file, and nothing is labeled it? do you have to change the name to one of the defaults in there? thank youuu.
the only thing that i know that you can put the fonts in a folder named "font" in the rom.

[Q] Lost image

Hi guys,
I have lost an image,
I use a normal image as a wallpaper. One day I made a backup of my rom and flashed another. As you understand I wiped my sd card. Finally I didn't liked the new rom and restored my previous. Now I see that image as my wallpaper but it does not appear to be in my sd card. It is only set as my wallpaper. If I will change wallpaper I will lose this image once and forever.
I tryed to find that image again but with no result.
Is there any way to take this image from the system? For example via a file explorer.
Thank you.
Get root explorer (if your not rooted then you cant do this) goto system/wallpaper and it keeps that image there to hold until changed. It is different on some phones but with mine its system/wallpaper. Copy that image into your sd if you want and then your saved!!!

I am rooted, but I cannot find anything in /system
Help me someone!!
I am using Nexus One, running CyanogenMod 7.1
Cant find anything in system??? Try find where...lets say...email if its attached to the rom (there when you got the phone) . Try find that (search for it in root explorer by pressing menu then search) copy down the location of the first part (eg. Example/app then go into example folder and find wallpaper folder) that might help you find it

Did you back up? Is it possible to find it from the backup?
I can't find anything.
Its okay, guys, it does't matter, thank you for your interest.

Custom Icons

I have started playing with custom icons recently an was curious, where can one find the stock icon.png file? I have a lot of apps on my phone like DrexelOne (for my college) which no one has made customs of, because of this I need the stock image to use as a base for my custom one. Other unpacking the .apk and removing the the icon.png is there a way to reach these?
Thanks ahead of time, I think this will help many more rookies than just me!

Are you asking where that default icon is that only shows up when the app has no specified icon? That would be either in framework.res or com.htc.resources. Both of those apks are in /system/framework.
No I'm asking in general is there a way to take an application's icon and use it as the base for a custom one? For example: Can I somehow get the SuperUser icon .pgn file so that I can take it into paint and edit it, then use ApexLauncher to edit the icon shown on my home screen?
Maybe I'm simplifying the steps to much, but can't you make 72x72pixel .pgn and use ApexLauncher to to make that new icon the icon the shows up?

[Q] Dumb wallpaper question

I'm currently using a wallpaper on my phone that was originally from a picture file that I manually copied onto the SD card and placed in a folder I specifically created for such background wallpapers. I don't want to lose the wallpaper, but as far as I can tell that file is no longer in the backgrounds folder, so I'm guessing that if I change the background or theme on my phone, it will disappear. Obviously, the file is somewhere on the phone since the background remains in use, but I can't find it.
So...can someone tell me how to determine the location of the file currently being used as the background wallpaper?
Thanks!
PS - I'm running CM10.1.3.

That app definitely brought up more graphic files than my previous ones, but I still wasn't able to find it. The good news is that I finally managed to locate the same background elsewhere on the Internet and re-downloaded it, so all is well. I'll keep playing with this app, though. Looks like it might come in handy. Thanks for your help!
