Is there anyway to change the call lock screen from what I have below?
Certain ROMs will change the call screen. Do you have root on your phone?
Yep (10chars).
would there be any way to change the way you answer the phone without root? my phone keeps answering itself in my pocket

You have to find the apk files to replace the HTClockscreen.apk (do not remove it until you have a replacement lockscreen.apk file. technically you could probably pull one off from another ROM that you like and copy it onto your /system/app location and that might work... but be careful and do a nandbackup before you start experimenting.

While it is true that you can replace your lockscreen, the call lockscreen is in the phone.apk, and you either choose between the HTC screen (on Sense roms) or the Android lockscreen (on CM and AOSP roms).
One solution that I have adapted is to put the phone "top-down" in my pocket (the usb plug points up) that way, even if it does rub during extraction, it's going opposite direction to answer the call.
what exactly are you trying to change? i have mine setup like Senseable's... the screen shot you posted is the sense call-lock screen.
the actual files are located in the com.htc.resources.apk (in the \res\drawable-mdpi folder)
you can change the files in the apk... and push it back over your current file.
the lock arc screen files are named:
lockscreen_arc.png
lockscreen_arcglass_bottom.png
lockscreen_arcglass_top.9.png
i'm pretty sure you can find a flashable version around here somewhere too.
hey, i got a virgin mobile s2 yesterday and i rooted and unlocked with
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13715727
and galaxy s unlock on the market.
im assuming it went well since i have the yellow triangle and my rogers sim now works.
i got root explorer and followed instructions on making "local.prop" in data with "ro.camera.sound.forced=0" but it hasnt been working.
is there any known problems with my type of combination
Virgin
XWKDD_insecure.tar
or any other help at all?
Im totally new to this and i dont want to mess anything up by using another rom or something because i need it before a flight tomorrow morning.
You could delete the following using root explorer:
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click_short.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/Shutter_01.ogg
That way you delete the audio file the camera uses. If you don't want to do it as a permanent solution, you could backup the files if you want to restore them.
hmm i already tried to rename those files in root explorer but i got a no permission error. but your post brought me back to it and i successfully renamed them after turning on "mount r/w".
Thanks! lol
Although it would have been cool to keep the sounds and only make it silent when it was in silent mode :/
This has only been thested on stock rom HTC ONE M8 for AT&T, don't try it if you are on another network.
First thanks & credit to user Wonders_Never_Cease who helped me figure this out.
Your device must be with bootloader unlocked, rooted and s-off'ed. How to unlock bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702325. How to s-off: http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/. (Adb & fasboot knowledge required.)
I'm not resposible for any damage done to your device, you do this at your own risk. But it's safe as long as you follow instructions.
Steps:
1. Download this file: https://mega.co.nz/#!HZgDUCoK!OnMUJ-B5XPiBUuTbL1sHSBK6bI2PfAUBHOnpK82pleQ
2. Place on SD card or anywhere you want but remember where you copied it to.
3. Use any file explorer, I recommend Root Explorer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=en), go to /system/customize/CID/ and rename default.xml to default.xml.bak (just in case anything goes wrong, so you can restore the original). Then copy the default.xml you downloaded in the first step to this folder, verify the permissions on default.xml.bak, and change the permissions to the new default.xml to match the backup file.
4. Reboot, now you should have the Google Boot Animation & the HTC Bootup Sound!
In case you want to come back, delete the default.xml and rename the default.xml.bak to default.xml, that easy. Once again thanks to Wonders_Never_Cease, without his direction I wouldn't have found this, so all credit to him, I just made it more accessible.
Posts your results or if you have any issues.
Do you know if the boot animation changer in ROM Toolbox will work with the AT&T M8? I've been sketchy on trying it.

Default.xml?
Do you know what the change is to the default.xml file? I have already modified mine, and would rather not replace it.
I have a very simple question: what am I doing wrong when it comes to changing my lock and unlock sounds to something custom? I have tried on stock, CM11, and now my current rom is Revolution HD 11.2, but with all I have the same issue. When I replace the sound files in /system/media/audio/ui and reboot, it reverts to the originals.
I'm at wits end, I spent twelve hours on this yesterday and I just don't understand o.o
You need to change permissions (allow read and write) on the files you are altering, with whatever file/root explorer you are using.
The files are now copied properly, however there is only silence when I lock or unlock. Lock sounds are enabled, I'm clueless yet again.
Can anyone help me figure this out?
I have just moved back to Android from Windows Phone...Please don't shout at me, I enjoyed Windows UI but the app support is just awful.
Got myself a Z5 compact....obviously, why would I be posting here otherwise.
Its second hand and locked to o2, just waiting on the unlock code to get that sorted, but I hate the o2 animation. I have downloaded an alternative, however when in es file explorer, I can't seem to delete/rename or move the current bootanimation file. Some please tell the dummy what he is doing wrong. or another way to get rid of o2's stupid bubbles.
Everything is standard stock.
I feel like a complete beginner again.
Thanks!
Try root explorer, if no luck, you will have to root the phone to wonder in those protected sector.

You need root to modify system apps
Just flash a non branded ftf with flashtool
You don't need an alternative file manager or another ROM to be able to change the bootanimation. You only need root access. SuperSU needs to grant root permission to ES and in ES File Explorer you need to set Root Explorer on, and system R/W.
Possibly the default bootanimation isn't located in system/media (where you can drop your bootanimation) but somewhere else.
- you need to ROOT your phone to alter boot animation
- Sony releases Stock version for various LOCKED phones Verison, At&T, o2 etc. I am not sure what will happend if you FLASH stock rom (original) over locked o2. will it boot? or will it go in bootloops. however its worth trying atleast.
have both o2 version of ftf file and original ftf stockrom ready!
Just followed steps to try and unlock bootloader and the status states that "Bootloader unlock allowed: No" I presume there is a workaround, can someone help? Thanks
