I want to buy this phone so I have a few questions.
1.Which is better ICS or JB? (I saw that there are some battery problems on JB)
2.There seems to be another rooting tutorial out there (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338816). If I use that tutorial or the known one, how do I unroot to regain the warranty?
3.Are the good games playable on it?
Thanks!
1 imho jelly bean
2 in italy you dont lose warranty with root and recovery i dont know in the other countries
3 the games run well, but it hasnt lot of memory for fat games

I'm constantly reflashing between CM10 rom (PA) and a stock rom (Omega) and can't decide which one has a better camera app. this is very important for me.
Also, I've seen the two 'upgrades' :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691145
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746611
and tried them, and still can't see a clear answer on which camera takes the best pictures. Can you help me with it?
Quality relies on drivers
Obviously the stock camera is better... I can clearly see that when opening the photos on PC...
But... If you can't see the difference between then, it means that it doesn't matter much, the difference is too insignificant for normal people to notice

no question when it comes to camera, its samsung
In my opinion its the stock camera
And does the 'note 2' patch makes the camera better or just 'different'?
dual boot is the solution to having the best of both worlds, granted it takes 45 seconds to reboot from 1 Rom to the other but it is essentially THE solution if you find yourself torn!
True, Samsung camera it's a beast but dualbooting allow you to have both sides: stability of stock Rom and awesome speed of aosp

Good evening!
I just wanted to know if when I´m buying the GT-I9305 (Titanium Grey version with 2 GB RAM) I still will be able to flash the GT-I9300 ROMS as well or if this is a totally other device where I will be restricted to special ROMS for its specifications.
Thank you so much!
AFAIK it´s a LTE version, right?
no you won't be able too unfortunately.
There is root and a couple of basic Roms for it but developer support is still quite weak
hello everyone, i'm having problems playing any 3D games like NFS Shift or Raging Thunder 2. when i start the games they just show the logo and stuff and hang at the splash screen forever.. i never get into the game menu or anything.. i'm running CyanMobile X build 4 on my Atrix 4G but i have had this problem on other roms i've tried too.. can anyone suggest whats the cause?
simple, any rom based on any version of.android beyond 2.3.x lacks 3d hardware acceleration, due to missing drivers

Wrong. This is just wrong. 4.x lacks 2D drivers, 3D works fine! I'm playing NFS Shift right now (4.1.2 CM10).

thanks for the reply guys.. since i'm a newbie i was worried that maybe my phone was defected or something since i'm already having problem with the touch screen.. anyway the response from the two of you has me a bit more confused now. if it is the lack or 3d drivers then what rom should i use while at the same time have a fully work device. if its not the rom and lack of 3d drivers then what is the problem.. i just want a up to date os that can wok as a daily device and still be able to play games when i'm bored. i would love to switch to android 4.x but i need my camera and video recorder and be able to play videos which i hear is a problem in 4.x roms due to lack of drivers. maybe i'm wrong here idk. just asking for some advice please

It's essentially because you're on ICS+ Install a CM7 based ROM and you'll be good

but i'm not not on a ICS rom.. its CyanMobile gingerbread build 4 with android 2.3.8 running on it. it does have alot of ICS features or ports or whatever the technical name is.. anyway i think i had the same problem on cm7 nightly and Neutrino ROM V2.9. can't remember for sure.. i'll give it try though and report back when i have the time..
btw i flashed CM 10 SuperLite (4.1.2) + and the games work... well only tested Raging Thunder 2 so far but it plays which i was never able to do on CyanMobile but the lack of video camera is a deal breaker for me
There is no such thing as android 2.3.8...

Yeah i guess your right officially there isn't. seems that that 2.3.8 is just a modded 2.3.7 kernel with ports from other roms. at least thats how i understand it so far. still a newbie so excuse me if i'm wrong.. still learning here

Hi guys. This is not a "best rom" thread. I'd like some advice please.
A couple of months ago I rooted my girlfriend's xpu because she complained it was slow. I sympathise because I have an s3 mini with similar chipset and roughly the same specs, yet even my original stock rom was faster and more efficient.
I tried jbexperience and freexperia cm9.1. Both aren't exactly what I expected.
She regularly uses Facebook, whatsapp, email and plays candy crush and jewel star. On cm9.1 her battery life is horrible even with greenify and the phone is unstable. The ram fills up very quickly and the phone frequently reboots. She also had problems with apps that use webcoreview force closing.
Now as you can probably tell, I'm a veteran rom flasher and have been doing it for a long time on various phones. My old wildfire buzz and my son's hero are rooted with custom roms and are generally smoother and more stable than the xperia u. They are old and the hardware is ancient.
So my question for you lovely, fair members of the xperia u group today is, can you please recommend a stable and battery friendly rom for the xperia u?
Please don't say "this rom is best" or "this thread is bad", etcetera..
I can't try them all as my girlfriend has far less patience for this than I do.
Thank you for your understanding and patience, and please be nice.

Gb-rocks and remove the bloatware you don't want. if your bootloader is unlocked then flash supercharged kernel too

Thank you. This looks more like the kind of thing I'm looking for. Gingerbread for a newer model, using less ram than ics crap. My gf will be happy with this although I'll probably need to modify play store to show more apps
Yes of course bootloader is unlocked
Is there a specific supercharged kernel you're talking of?
If there are any other roms you feel are worth mentioning please do Thanks again

If you are OK with CM then SlimCM ROM is worth a mention.

Almost sure there is nothing faster than the Gingerbread version as just the core is going to take less resources.
Anyway for me the stock ICS 6.1.1.B.1,1.100 firmware works pretty well. For that one I just installed it, rooted, and removed some bloatware (just the ones that came with the ROM from the phone provider that released that firmware and an app that my own phone provider installs and some other apps I don't use like office suite and one or too more (some are apps you can even uninstall without root), but I removed nothing from Xperia apps). I didn't even installed anything else to enhance performance, no greenify not lag seeder and I'm pretty satisfied with performance. Facebook sometimes doesn't work as good as I would like to but in my opinion that's more a problem of facebook app which is a **** than a problem of the phone OS.
The last official release 6.1.1.B.1.1.54 firmware is horrible but that 6.1.1.B.1.1.100 works pretty well. I just tested only two more ICS ROMs and they didn't satisfied me more than the stock. I really prefer to continue with stock firmware and as It works really good for me that's what I choose.
By the way I don't think the game you mention is something to worry about. It is not one with a high resources requirement in my opinion. So it will work pretty well in any ROM with good enough performance.
So i've been reading the forums for a long time now and saw a lot of people who root their phones, change the governor and the phone becomes a 'beast' i'd say. So my question is what is the best firmware for rooting? Some say .100, some say .112 and others say .128. Which one is the best?

I want to do exactly that with my M4 but i'm new to phone modding and don't know where to start :/... just bought my M4 and i'm a little disapointed with current performance
+1... It is a great mobile, but the Sony firmware is a ****. Dozens of preinstalled (and impossible to uninstall) applications, OS really huge... I have 8 GB. version with less than 2 GB. in the beginning...
I have 8 GB version with 2.5 GB free
but then again, I do not use Facebook, etc.
I got the 16gb version and its just fine but its very buggy and laggy when playing most games...
