How to find the charging rate? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

It shows up as Charging AC if it's plugged into 1 or 2 amp charger. Is there any app that will show the current charging rate?

There is this app: Galaxy Charging Current Lite (I can't post links yet)
It reads the current of the charge, so not sure if that's what you are looking for.

Its not the stock charger, but it'll work. Stock is 5v-1.0a
no, you should have a 5.0v 1.0 amp charger. if you use the .7 amp charger you will notice your battery life depleting faster then normal. you can get a charger that has an output greater then 1 amp (or 1,000mA), it won't hurt the phone as long as you stay at 5.0 to 5.5 volts. the phone will only draw what it need's in ampere's. i used a 1.7amp charger (till i lost it) for awhile with my phone's, the battery would both charge faster and last longer without any harm to the phone.
SHORT ANSWER... THEY SENT YOU THE WRONG CHARGER

Anyone having an issue where the phone does not charge with the screen on? It shows that it is charging, but I think the drain may be too heavy?

Did you try to switch cable?
Also, see if there is any change when you plug it into a pc, or after restarting your device

Thats ok, no need to go formal on me
Check the current reaching your device using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abmantis.galaxychargingcurrent.free
If the charging port works as it should, you suppose to see value of 900-1100 in the 'avg' row (assuming you're using original 1A charger and cable), otherwise it should be much lower.

I was having the same problem with charging my phone for ages and then it occurred to me that it was a problem with the cables. Try the following fix from my own thread in the general section of the forum.
Link below and good luck with it

Try a different cable. I charge my S3 with a S4 charger and it works great! Good luck.

Charging rate

How can i see what rate my phone is being charged? I am stock and not rooted. I want to compare different chargers and see what rate they are charging my phone at. Thank you for reading and helping.

Battery Widget Reborn will do this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hubalek.android.reborn.beta
There is also a non beta version and a pro version.
There is a thread about it here on xda as well.
Let us know the results!

After downloading the app that freddyfredfred has offered you might go to Galaxy note 3 accessories. There are threads on charging, from what I have read and experienced the stock charger works the best. But the trick is a heavy cable, I picked up a 3.0 USB cable for a external hard drive at a radio shack. The cable is twice as thick as the stock cable and knocked about 15 min off a charge cycle from 20% . Hope this helps !
jimzweb1 is right, i am using pantech burst cable with the charger and it works absolutely fine
you can use 'galaxy charging current lite' to check charging current to the mobile.
I downloaded Galaxy charging current lite and it says 1200. Is that a good rate?

Sorry for late reply mate
Value depends on ur charger output.. See what's the output current on ur charger... If it's 1.2A then your value is perfect
Btw you are supposed to consider maximum value not reference one
