[Q] Need a little help with rooting. - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hello, i was rooting my LG Optimus L9 following this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
and i ran into a problem at step 12 where it says:
"12) CWM Recovery Installation on ICS: This rooting does not install ClockWorkMod. First run SuperSU and install SUBinary if it asks to install and then visit this thread to install L9 Recovery Installer by Artas182x. First install this app and then run app and install Recovery.
CWM Recovery Installation on Jelly Bean: Please follow AngryWolf80's thread for installing CWM. If you dont find the information, post your question in his thread."
I cant find out how to install ClockWorkMod on AngryWolf80's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206817) thread and i cant post on that thread because im a new user, sooo can anybody help me? Thanks.

Install cmw

Sorry for the noobie question but i'm thinking about intalling a custom rom on tab 10.1 and keep reading here to do a full wipe and to install cmw before flashing. How exactly I do a full wipe in the tab? And what is cmw?
thanks!
Is your tab rooted first?
No, it's in stock 3.1. I'm starting to get the picture but a post in that threat got me confused: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20022691&postcount=2966
he says: "but you wont neet to root to flash my rom. my rom does that for you. just flash cmw, then my rom, done!" but i dont get it, from the cmw intalation guides I read they all say you have to root your device before flashing it. So, do I have to root it or not?
Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185
Any questions now?
+1 s15274n's post. That's the guide I used and it couldn't be easier! If you have a 7510 install Galaxy Task v7 by 'Task650' after CWM installation then one of b00sted's themes, that's as good as it gets.

[Q] Rooted - or not

Hello to everyone
I am the proud owner of a galaxy S3 - i9300 since couple of days (got s2 before) and I would like to install a custom rom. Right now it is official JB. So first I tried to follow the guide from here the galaxys3root.com - galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-s3-jelly-bean-or-ics
I finished installing, everything said ok but SuperSU said "“There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!”. However I was able to enter recovery mode and see that cwm was installed. I repeated the procedure - same result. I tried using the CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar.md5, it said ok, finished, all green but again i had no root access (cwm still there, root checker said no root and supersu dissappeared).
The ultimate goal for me is to install CM11 rom with kitkat. So please clear some things for me (almost beginner level):
1. do i really need root from now on?
2. can i just reboot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset and install ROM? (all from the device, no odin)
3. is it a better solution to flash stock firmware through odin and start rooting all over again ?
4. Why don't I have root access since I followed all the indicated steps?
One detail that might matter is that now my cwm is version 5.5.0.4 CF v.1.5
Thank you for any help (and again, beginner+1 language please)
Visit CM and CF autoroot site you will find the answer to your questions.
All you need to install CM is recovery, so if you can get into that you are golden and don't need root on your current rom because its going to be over written with CM anyway
Thank you for your replies!
IOU-1, I did some research over the internet and I still do but I'm looking for some straight-on answers right now.
Darke5tShad0w, thanks for your help - right now I have cwm 5.5.0.4 - can you point me towards how to update to newer one? (I cannot do it through play store since I don't have root access).
Ok, I've found the cwm update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052091 I think this should work.

Try this since your goal is to install CM-ROM http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/CyanogenMod_Installer
Sorry I dont have alot of time today to be able to find you a link for the updated version.
Few things you can do here,
Use the link IOU-1 posted, I forgot about this yesterday then update CWM with rom manager
Try to flash cm with current CWM, if it works update it with rom manager
Search the forums and find the correct cwm post and update manually
Ok, thanks to everyone for their answers.
I fixed it and I'll say how so anyone in my position will do the same.
As a reminder, I tried to root but all I succeded to do is get cwm installed but no root (so no rom manager or any other root app installed).
What i did was to update cwm manually from within it, with zip install from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052091
After that I simply installed CM11 - zip install - and now I have root and everything is running smoothly.
Again thanks - and good luck to all.

[Q] backup before installing CWM?

Hi all,
Under stock recovery, I tried to run an update.zip, which is gapps package. I got: "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted."
I googled and planning to do the CWM things.
But, this Philips phone (android 4.0.4, one article says it's MTK device) is rare and no ROM available out there. So I have to be careful.
Could anybody please answer:
1>. Is there any MTK version of CWM?
2>. How do I backup BEFORE installing CWM? --- in case I want to get back stock recovery.
3>. If I got the wrong CWM version, is it just can not install CWM, or I can but very dangerous?
Thanks.

Thanks.
I viewed some tutorials and tried Goomanager and visited TWRP site, but my device is not in twrp's list. Can I just pick a relatively new version of twrp and install?
Finally I find in this forum a thread: [PORT] [TOOL] Carliv Touch Recovery for MT657x.
I successfully flashed recovery.
Thank you, sir.
I think I didn't helped you at all. LOL no prob

[Q] Rooted. unable to Flash Recovry

I rooted my Galaxy S4 using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
Rootchecker shows root access. However, I cannot get TWRP or CWM to flash. I tried CWM through ROM Manager and TWR through GooManager. ROM Manager reports a good install but when I reboot to recovery it is stock recovery.
Any help would be appreciated.
Please tell me you're already read the (many) threads about basebands and build numbers and custom recoveries.

this may assist U
Plenty of threads about this but let me help you out here.
What build number are you on? Any build number other than MDK have no known way to flash a custom recovery due to a locked bootloader. However if you read into some of the safestrap threads you can install a select few modified roms built for SS. Look here for some help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441 or use the search tool
