[Q] WIFI signal/radio connects and disconnects continually - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Hello,
I seem to have this problem with the WIFI on the phone. It seems to connect and disconnect continually despite access point and encryption method. I am using the stock rom found here and also the kernel to go along with it. The problem follows me around on any rom I use.
I am:
* On 1.15 hboot
* S-OFF (dirty racun)
* rooted
* HTC DEV Unlocked
* Super ID is VZW__001
Other stuff...
*Baseband vers. 1.53.06.0919
*Kernel vers. 3.0.8-01620-gabf7709
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
*Build no. 2.17.605.2 CL111397 release -keys
Any help on how I can remedy this annoying issue would be most grateful. Let me know if you need a logcat or anything. I wasn't sure to post this in the rom forum under developmental or to post here. I've lurked around to see if anyone else was having the issue.. No one has posted about it.
** Update, I've added a logcat of the Wifi disconnecting and reconnecting 2 times in less than a minute. Hopefully this will help...

...not a valid Win32 application

Hi,
I'm trying to make my Vodafone 1605 VPA SuperCID, but when I run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe I get a Windows error ...not a valid Win32 application.
I'm guessing this is something to do with my laptop hardware because I've had a problem loading other software due to the Due chip (Dell Latitude D820 - Centrino Duo etc).
Any advice appreciated - but be gentle with me 'cos I'm new to upgrading Windows mobile.
You actually copy that file onto your phone and run it from there, not the computer.
That should do the trick!
Thanks for quick reply - it shows how much I've got to learn!!!
Ran the file from my phone and got the "SUCCESS" message but when I checked using mtty.exe the phone still reports locked to vodafone.
I'll have a play and see what I come up with - hopefully not frying the phone in the process

You _must_ be running the unlocker's patched radio 1.16 on your phone when you run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe, otherwise it will report "SUCCESS" but do nothing.
Thanks Pof, but I don't know what to do next...
my bootloader screen shows IPL-1.00 and SPL-1.04.
My device info shows:
ROM version: 1.20.161.6
ROM date: 08/02/06
Radio version: 1.03.06.00
Protocol version: 32.34.7010.01W
I've read most of the WIKI (and even understood most of it) and also as many posts to this forum as I could.
Also, the 'available ROMs' page shows that this is the only ROM that Vodafone UK have produced and, bacause another poster has done the same thing with the same hardware and ROM I guessed I shouldn't have too much problem.
I think that as a beginner I must be doing something wrong or misunderstanding some of the lingo but would appreciate any more help which will get me away from the Vodafone ROM - and who knows, as I learn I may even be able to help some others later
Cheers, and thanks for all the informative posts

Follow instructions here, after flashing patched rom your radio version should show 1.16, then run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your phone and wait the "success" message. After that you should be SuperCID, if not, read the unlocking thread... it has all been answered before.
OK, finally worked it out - all I had to do was RTFW - ALL of it, not just the parts I think are relevant.
Cheers for the help, I'm sure I'll screw up later and need more lelp but I've learned loads already...
Now trying to work out which ROM to use (except Vodafone) and hoping not to brick the phone in the process )

HTC Hero - GPS No longer functioning.

I recently picked up an unlocked Telus HTC Hero. I'm on Rogers.
After rooting the phone, the GPS seems to have stopped working. Specifically, I am unable to get my location via GPS satellites. I'm wondering if there might be some aspect of the rooting process that might interfere with the GPS working properly (recover, radio, rom, etc...) or if anyone else has ever experienced this issue. And of course how to fix it?
I'm working on an app that requires the GPS...so it would be nice if it worked.
Any ideas?
Currently:
- Radio: update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26-signed
- Rom: update-hero-generic-2.73.405.66-rooted-signed
This happened to my Hero once.... After I disabled the GPS in the settings menu, it would not retrieve any satellites when I re-enabled it. So I flashed a new radio and it came back.
Later I had the same problem on my Nexus One, and I fixed the issue by disabling both the GPS and "Use Wireless Networks" option above it, and then re-enabling both of them.
I've tried several different things.
1 - Turned off wifi, turned off gps, turned of network location & satellites enabled...
2 - Restarted.
3 - Flashed a new rom, several in fact (HeroDroid, Modaco, HTC Generic)
4 - Flashed several radios (I can't recall which it came with)
Tempted to just sell it and grab another...
same problem here...
i don't get an error message but GPS doesn't work... i try a reset to factory settings but the prob insists. Its really strange that although GPS is on there is not the GPS sign on the notification bar.
Currently:
- Radio: update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26
- Rom: update-hero-generic-2.73.405.5 146733
I'm running the rooted, 2.73.405.66 generic ROM off Modaco. I find that the newer radio's with the slightly older firmware don't mix well. I'm running the radio with the FU prefix in it, and GPS works fine.
I actually found when I was messing about with custom ROMs, that the 1.5 ROMs seem to do better with older radio's.
SOLVED for me...
i downgrade to 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08 and everything(till now)seems ok...
Thanks Reverend.

[Q] 7.10.8112.7 failure. Continually Rebooting. Phone not working

I had a reliable debranded Mozart which has been unlocked by Orange in the UK and was running the ansar rom. It has accepted many updates in the post (post debranding) via Zune.
Unfortunately the 7.10.8112.7 update was problematic with error codes C1010007 and then C101002E.
I am left with a useless phone. I have done a factory reset to no avail.
The phone will boot into wp7.5 and sometimes holds for a few minutes before rebooting. Other times it gets into a loop while booting and ends up vibrating 7 times.
Any ideas anyone?
Is a fresh rom likely to help and if so which one?
I am currently showing:
OS 7.10.8107.79
Firmware 2250.21.51201.401
HW Rev 0004
SPL 5.12.2250.1
Thanks in advance
An Update
I have now dne a successful factory reset. Achieved this by leaving the battery out over night. I have been here before and am pretty sure that I will struggle to apply the above update.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Like many other Users of that fu**ed Phone !
Iv got 2 of that Mozarts, one with the reboot and second without.
Its a Hardware Problem. Both Phones have the same ROM , changing Batteries ,changing SDCard, no Matter
it stays; the first reboots , the second never...
Update on Rebooting
Here is an update of my rebooting issue:
Following a factory reset (battery left out overnight) the phone is not longer rebooting PROVIDED THAT ID DO NOT CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK OR ATTEMPT TO APPLY AN UPDATE VAI ZUNE.
I am also able to get into the bootloader (spl5.12.2250.1) and establish a USB connection.
I do not want to mess with rolling back the bootloader as that seems to be a very high risk undertaking.
My suspicion is that a fresh rom installation may sort the problem as it only appeared after applying an update.
So can anyone suggest options for updating to a new reliable rom which will not consume excessive battery life - or at least point me in the right direction for one which is compatible with my current spl.
Thanks in advance.

Dear,
It seems that during update you phone might have low battery or update is interrupted.
You can install offical rom containing 201 search in file factory.
Otherwise go with the below, but you will need to downgrade your spl which is a lengthy process.

Update to my last update
Thanks for your reply adeebulrehman
1. In your opinion, what are the merits of each of the two roms you suggest?
2. Can you suggest where I download the official rom safely?
3. Can you point me in the right direction for some safe and reliable spl downgrade instructions?
Many thanks

I flashed 9/20 this morning (without even clearing anything but cache) and got the new Cyanogenmod setup screens, though I just Next'd through them. The flickering is still there, and is really bad on specifically on the color grey (or when, for instance, opening a page that's white and then dragging down from the top which shades out the white underneath) but is much, much less noticeable below 25% brightness. I'm going to run at that level of brightness for a while and just see how it works.
We need to post in the Android general section or something and ask for help. As mower said, this is a developer forum overall and I'm sure there's got to be some people out there willing to take a look into it or offer some ideas.

logcat output of bootup for my device (which flickers)
In the 10.2 thread (which I don't have authority to reply to) brianr134 asked if someone could post bootup logcat output from a device with a flickering panel. here it is! it's from the 9/20 nightly which i've been running all day. not too bad to use, although i've noticed bluetooth output has some weird knocking sounds sometimes and its a little unstable (but i did _NOT_ do a complete wipe, it was an upgrade from 10.1 simply because I wanted to quickly see how bad the flickering was, etc). I hope it helps!
"Show Surface Updates" on mdm05 vs nightly cm10.2
I just noticed that "show surface updates" has different behavior as well under these two - under mdm05 you can click "show surface updates" and not see any flashing to indicate updating. But when you do this under the cm10.2 nightlies, the status bar updates wildly in the same pattern as the flickering. I had turned this on under 10.2 briefly just to see if that had anything to do with it, and I initially thought it wasn't related. But I'm back on mdm05 now and the difference in the behavior is striking. The question is, why would it make some panels flicker and others not?
Since I have no idea how the "flicker" appears, does it come immediately at boot (visible in the CM animation) or part way through? Is it only in the gray colors?
Can someone else post another logcat?

I can't get you the logcat, but I can tell you how it appears. First, mdmower discovered that if you never let the device's screen go off, the flicker will never appear. Obviously your screen has to go off at some point though. So once that happens, you will eventually start to see flicker. The best way to notice it is to turn brightness up. If you use auto brightness and you're in a dark setting you may not notice it right away. It starts as a mild flicker, mostly only noticeable on light grays. It eventually progresses worse and worse over a couple hours and you'll always see it. It's pretty much the edges of the screen flickering. If you stay on that build for a long time - maybe over night - the flickering will be super intense.

[Q] GPS not working after new ROM(s), tried everything...

Hi,
I wanted to use my old HTC One V as a bike computer and remote for my Panasonic camera, but the GPS wont work anymore! All GPS apps/tools show the GPS as enabled, but they cant find any satellites, not even after hours of searching. I tried the following steps to resolve the problem to no avail:
- Went back to stock, relocked the phone, uninstalled the old TWRP recovery, installed two different RUUs, but the problem persisted, everything else works
- Went back to fully modded, installed four different ROMs, newest TWRP recovery, unlocked the phone, etc., still no GPS
- I tried the Ignorance v5 ROM, stock RUU, and CM11, 12 and 13 (everytime I used the correct kernel/boot.img)
- The phone didn't have a SIM-card, so I tried my working SIM, but still no GPS
- GPS was working when the phone was stock and also the Ignorance v5 ROM. After I lent it to a friend, I made a factory reset and wanted to try newer ROMs, thats when the GPS stopped working.
Now my questions are:
- Is there a way to view debug information on the phone, if there is an error? Like more infos, then the standard GPS apps give me.
- Should I check the installed radio and does an RUU overwrite the radio? Does the radio even interface with the GPS hardware?
- Maybe someone has a ROM-Backup with working GPS that I can try to put on my device?
- Is there a way to test the GPS antenna? WLAN, bluetooth and GSM works normal.
Here are my HBOOT/FASTBOOT infos:
PRIMOU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
RADIO-3831.24.01.30_M
eMMC-boot
Kind Regards
No ideas at all? Maybe someone can at least say, where the GPS antenna ist located.
