Without a computer, you will only be able to restore cwm backups for p769
Also p760 Roms/backup will not run properly on p769

First things first, must have unlocked bootloader. Second flash recovery.img thru mobile terminal or adb. DO NOT USE L9 Recovery Installer.apk. It will not work. It must be a mirrored recovery, that is a sure fire way to tell you have the right one. Then flash rom thru MIRRORED CWM as well as Gapps and u should be good to go. You can also flash The OC UV zip as well. Good Luck
Can we root Jelly Bean yet for the tmobile variant yet? Like any easy ways preferably....

Lelus method is the only way currently. A hex-edited bin file for P769 Jellybean was uploaded by cmahendra in his thread. So take a look
Hi, can't we root by flashing via cwm? As I have rooted by that method
My phone is l9 jb

Ah I misunderstood the OP I think. I was assuming that he was currently stock and unrooted.
Yeah if you already have CWM you can flash a rooted backup.
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
As I have unlocked bootloader, then flashed cwm using cmd in fastboot mode and rooted using update.zip via recovery

Hey friend
You can unlock your bootloader using fastboot method then it will be easier to flash recovery in kernel and if you flashed it successfully then you are done.
As after that rooting is just child play Earlier I have owned other android but I guess LG is the easiest and safest phone to root

If you don't want to do all the u boot and whatnot then just do the Lelus method with the hex file. It's not too easy but not very hard either. Hmm. . .I wonder if we could use the original root method that we used for 10e? Boys that was easy!

New l9 (p769) user, I realized there's no point in having cwm if your on a locked bootloader ( can't unlock bootloader one bit, on v20D) and I'm just wondering if anyone had the stock recovery so I can flash the official ota? And no matter what I can't get fastboot to work which I understand has to do with bootloader. Thanks!

Cwm is very useful even if bootloader is locked. Why do you need stock recovery for? Just update ota? And fastboot works with lock bootloaders. If you have an issue just ask me.

It doesn't let me flash the ota? I've been trying and all it does is pretend to flash about halfway and reboots..

Well I'd rather just apply the ota as it is without having to do that since lack of laptop at the moment, is there a way I can get the stock recovery and push it via terminal?
Again thanks for the help!

you don't need to flash anything, just follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40871273&postcount=62
So backing up and installing the 20D backup provided will get me the stock recovery?...confused cause the link you posted was talking about removing cwm, nothing about applying the 20f update. I'm on v20d right now...
Thanks!

Okay, here we go:
1. CWM works with v20D or v20F. If you want to do OTA then you need to follow the link, that Lelus gave you, to the instructions to delete cwm from your phone.
2. If you want to flash the v20F rooted CWM backup that is on the sticky then all you have to do is download it to your sd card then get into cwm and flash the zip file.
3. I would suggest you get cwm working and backup your current ROM before you do anything just in case you run into trouble you can do the "etch-a-sketch" start over by reloading (flashing) your backup.
Good Luck!!!
Ok I deleted all remnants of cwm, renamed the file, and tried to apply the update, still no dice. Can I just restore one of the stock 20f roms stickied using cwm?

Hey,
I get the Jelly Bean update on my T-Mobile p769 10g which is rooted.
When I try to install the update I get an android with a red exclamation mark.
How do I update from a rooted p769 10g to the latest update from tmobile?

Just install from there. Otherwise you have to find out what you did wrong and fix it.

I seen in other thread you used Teenybin, that updated your partitions to 4.1.2 so you can flash anything you want.

Restoring a nandroid doesn't update your partitions but if you are planning on flashing to a stock based JB (either Stock OTA JB, SlickJB, EG8, or SnowJB) then I believe you don't need the updated partition layout. Just flash away. One thing to note though, If you ever plan on flashing a AOSP 4.2.2 ROM or higher, you will need to use teenybin in the future. Also, always keep a spare ROM or nandroid you know works on your SD card. Just in case.
Edit: Unless you used a teenybin and then restored a nandroid. Then you should be okay no matter what.

If you get OTA notification you would need to be on 100% stock ICS or it will fail to install. Or you can use file in link with lgnpst, it is a zip but unpack it and it is a tot which you rename to bin.
