[Q] The Samsung "Custom" boot screen. What does that mean exactly? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I started seeing the Samsung "Custom" boot screen with the unlocked icon after installing a custom rom. Not to sound stupid, but what exactly does this mean? Is it good, bad, or should it be ignored?

It means you're not stock. Ignore it.

[Q] How to go back to stock verizon boot animation?

I am using Jelly 'Beans' Rom + Perseus kernel on Galaxy note 2. I like this ROM except for this boot animation. Can somebody tell me where I can find and install stock verizon animation?

get stock rom and extract it then.
there are quite a few different options in that thread, so make sure you are getting the right one. there are tons of boot animations out there, and they seem simple enough to make... so if all fails just do it yourself
So I deleted the jellybeans Bootanimation.zip and installed the stock boot animation. and now I have an android boot animation... Where did that come from? Anyone k ow why it's using that animation instead of the stock files I installed?

Yeah it says "android" in silver letters and light scrolls across the letters.. Lol I'm sorry I don't know how to describe it.
I'm pretty sure it's just a stock Android boot animation. As I have seen it back in the day on my fascinate.
But i have no idea where it is located.

That is the stock animation that is played when there is no other boot animation. Most of the custom kernels do not support the Samsung format. They instead support the more standard bootanimation.zip. If there isn't a bootanimation.zip, the stock animation is played instead.
If you check out Scott's ROM threads, he has a downloadable zip with a set of custom boot animations, one of which is very similar to the stock Samsung animation.

[Q] Booting android From SD Card

Since MK2 is so tightly locked down, would it at all be conceivable to boot the S4 from the SD card, put some form of a ROM onto the SD and run like that, kind of what's going on w/ the HD2?

Even if it was possible the storage source wouldn't bypass the bootloader checks.

I bought an S4 back in the MDK days, that phone decided to stop getting data, making calls, and just overheating. Even odin didn't help it. So I had to replace it w/ a vzw "clnr" that's why I'm on MK2.

Yes. Works great.

This might be a silly question, but it can't flash kernels can it?
It installed and I did a backup which took some time. I've no sources or anything. While it seems to work, I have no idea what else may come with it. But it works.

If this isnt fake than yes it could flash kernels, we don't have kernel source from LG yet though
Although, I'm not flashing this. until one of the people who made root a possibility points us to a recovery I won't be flashing one

I've flashed a font and made a backup. It works. However, I'd at least wait until a name you know says "yes, this is safe".

From the looks of this, you just followed instructions from this thread here now, even though this appears to have worked, I would not suggest going through with actually flashing anything or making backups.
The reason is partitions are different across some of the G3 devices and it would not be a smart idea to risk flashing something to a wrong partition, especially since there are 16 and 32 gb models.
With that, it looks like there is a bypass on the VZW model which is a good sign for future use.
so bootloader is unlocked??

Yes we can. This is no different than flashing a custom ROM using safestrap on a Samsung product. I don't think you guys realize how big this is. While its not a boot loader unlock, we will be able to flash custom Roms based on factory ROM.
Hoping we get Aosp soon.

is it possible to hide SU on OnePlus One so I could use AndroidPay?

Hi,
as the title says. I'd like to know if it's possible and pass SafetyNet.
Thanks.

It's getting to the point of having to make a choice. Some have found it won't work if you just have an unlocked bootloader. Which a few other apps have also employed

No I mean it looks for if the bootloader is unlocked. I'll have to go back and read what apps are doing this again just to be sure which ones they are.

Need Help Removing Air Watch From Company Phone On Note 4....

Hey,
I have a note 4 from a company I no longer work for. It was in my drawer for almost a year. I played around with it and tried to wipe it but it wouldn't wipe because of Air Watch. I guess I made it worse when I disabled something I shouldn't which I think was the account for it. Now it stays stuck on the screen of Air Watch and do not know how to remove the company guarded info and just put the normal nougat or older os on there. Any help?
Are you rooted?
